Misunderstanding
Chapter 21

"You sure this is a good idea L.B.?" Cooter asked his cousin.

"No, but neither one of us wants to hide our relationship," L.B. replied, pausing to slap aftershave on. "To tell ya the truth Cooter I'm more worried for Bo than myself."

"What do ya mean?"

"Well if the reaction we get is too severe I can go back home, but Bo would have to leave his home behind."

"Now see, that right there is why I don't think you should do this. I don't understand why you need to anyway, you ain't never had any need to tell everybody your business before."

"Never had a need is right Cooter. I got one now though, I'm in love cousin and I shouldn't have to hide that."

"You shouldn't, that's true but the fact is L.B. there's a lot of folks don't like gay men. You saw what happened to Bo cause some bigots couldn't just let people live their lives the way they want to. Hell L.B. you were hurt too by them same men, do you really want to risk you or Bo getting hurt again?"

"It's too late now."

"Huh?"

"If I tell Bo now that I don't think we should go through with our plans he's likely to think I've changed my mind about us."

"Well why in the world would he think that?"

"He don't think he's good enough to be with me, well to be with anybody actually. He hides it pretty good, but after what that bastard did to him..." slamming his hand against the wall, L.B. turned away.

"Calm down cousin," Cooter soothed, stepping up and laying a supportive hand on L.B.'s back.

"He blames himself Cooter, thinks that he should've fought harder or something. That's why even though I am worried, I can't back out or Bo will get the idea that I think he's to blame for what happened to him."

"I'm sorry L.B., I had no idea that Bo felt that way."

"You weren't supposed to know and ya can't be telling him that you do either."

"Don't worry I won't, and I ain't gonna say anymore about this date except...."

"What?"

"Would you mind if I was at the diner too? I'll make sure that Bo don't see me, but I'd feel better if y'all had some back-up just in case."

"Thanks Cooter, that's probably a good idea," L.B. agreed. "Well I'd better get going or I'm gonna be late."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pulling up outside Molly's Kitchen, the local diner, L.B. looked over at Bo, giving him a tight smile. "You ready?"

"I ggggguess," Bo stuttered in reply, more nervous than he could ever remember being in his life.

"It's going to be okay Bo," L.B. assured, reaching for his lover's hand and giving it a light squeeze.

"Yeah," with a short nod, Bo returned the grasp and grabbed the door handle.

Walking towards the door, L.B. unobrusively placed a supportive hand on the small of Bo's back, gently guiding him into the diner. Once inside, they quickly found a table. Taking their seats, they both felt as though every eye in the place was on them.

"Hey Bo, L.B., what can I get for you boys?"

"Hey LouAnne, um could you just bring us each a glass of sweet tea for now?" L.B. asked.

"Sure thing L.B., be right back."

Ordering them each a pork chop dinner, L.B. handed the menus to LouAnne. "Bo, you okay?" he asked, concerned by his lover's silence.

"Yeah," the quiet answer was completely unconvincing.

"We don't have to stay ya know."

"No!" Bo practically yelled, turning red and looking down at the table when several heads turned their way. "Sorry, didn't mean to yell."

"It's okay Bo, you're nervous," L.B. assured him.

"That ain't no excuse to yell at ya, especially when you're just trying to help. I'm trying not to let my fear take over, but..."

"It ain't that simple, is it?"

Shaking his head miserably, Bo wondered again if he should just go home before they made a mistake they couldn't take back.

"Here ya go boys," LouAnne interrupted, placing a plate in front of each man. "Everything okay?" she asked, noticing that Bo still hadn't spoken to or looked at her.

"Yeah LouAnne, thanks," L.B. replied.

"You sure L.B.? Cause Bo don't look so good."

"I'm sure."

"Okay, well if y'all need anything just holler."

"Looks good, don't it?" L.B. asked, doing his best to behave normally, hoping it would help Bo to relax.

Glancing up, Bo gave his lover a grateful smile, "Sure does." Taking several deep breaths, Bo picked up his fork and slowly began his meal. As they ate, the two men talked about a variety of topics, much like any other couple out on a date might do. The more they spoke, the more relaxed Bo became, the occassional brush of L.B.'s hand against his own soothing him as well.

"Come on Mary, I ain't sitting here with the likes of them," Bud Smith growled.

"No," Mary calmly refused, not even looking at her husband.

"Don't tell me it don't bother you to see that!"

"Bud, what exactly are they doing that is hurting you?"

"Well it just ain't normal."

"They aren't acting any differently than any other couple in here, are they?"

"No, but Mary they're men."

"Yes, I noticed and rather handsome men at that. I still don't see how those two men being in love, and they obviously are, is hurting you."

Bud looked at his wife increduously, before glancing towards the table where L.B. and Bo were enjoying their dinner. Glancing between his wife and the two men, a sheepish look began to cross his face as he realized the truth of his wife's words. "You know you're right Mary, they ain't hurting me any. In fact I think I'm getting my appetite back, might even have dessert," he smiled across the table at his wife.

"I love you Bud," Mary whispered, returning the smile as she returned to her own meal.

Throughout the diner similar conversations were taking place and several ended like Bud and Mary's did. A few of the younger couples, however, were too offended to stay and left the diner in disgust.

"L.B., maybe we should go," Bo suggested when the second couple passed by, aiming dirty looks their way.

"You gonna let them dictate your life?"

"I just don't want to cause any trouble," Bo protested.

"Bo, while you were watching those other couples walking out, did ya notice all the ones that are staying?"

With a guilty start, Bo finally began to look around the room, for the first time noticing the couples who were calmly eating their meals. A few even gave him friendly smiles as he caught their eyes, "Wow, I didn't even see them."

"I know ya didn't," L.B. acknowledged. Reaching across the table, he took Bo's hand in his own, "You feel better now?"

"Yeah, yeah I do," Bo replied with a bright smile. "Maybe even good enough to have a beer at the Boar's Nest after dinner."

"If that's what you want to do, then that's what we'll do," L.B. agreed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tim Childress sneered when he saw Bo and L.B. step into the Boar's Nest. He had been at the diner earlier, witnessing with disgust their open display of affection. He was amazed that they would have the nerve to go out together, trying to act like any other couple, trying to convince everybody that they were normal.

"What's the matter Tim?" Lou Wilson asked, sliding into the booth across from his friend.

"Them," came the sneering reply.

"Who?" Lou asked, turning in his seat, trying to figure out who had Tim's nose out of joint this time.

"Bo and L.B., it's disgusting."

"Huh? What are you talking about Tim?"

"I was at Molly's tonight with Becky Anne, they was in there having dinner."

"So what's wrong with that?"

"I mean like a date Lou, I seen 'em holding hands and making moon eyes at each other. It's disgusting and shouldn't be allowed among decent folks."

"Bo and L.B.? Are you sure Tim?"

"Sure I'm sure, see looky there," he pointed at the two men just as L.B. slipped an arm around Bo's waist, leading him towards a table.

"Well I'll be damned," Lou whispered, shocked and surprised by what he was seeing.

"I ain't gonna put up with it!" Tim snapped. Sliding from the booth, he stalked over to the table where Bo and L.B. sat enjoying their beers.

"Whoa, hold on now Tim, let's not doing anything stupid," Lou cautioned, grabbing his friend's arm.

"Stupid? What's the matter with you Lou, you a queer lover now?" Tim demanded, jerking his arm away from Lou. Not bothering to wait for an answer, he continued over to the other table. "Hey everybody, ya know what we got here?" he asked loudly, looming over the two men at the table.

"What ya talking about Tim?" somebody yelled.

"Talking about Bo Duke and L.B. Davenport being queers."

"You drunk?" a different voice asked.

"No sir, I ain't drunk. I seen 'em at the diner, holding hands and making eyes at each other."

"Look Tim we don't want no trouble," L.B. said, coming to his feet and facing the other man.

"Too late for that faggot," Tim snarled, pulling his arm back and curling his hand into a fist.

"Yeah," several voices agreed from the crowd.

Bo stood, backing L.B.'s move, though hearing the number of voices in agreement with Tim, he figured they were about to get their heads handed to them. Bracing himself, he waited for Tim to throw the first punch; it took him a second to realize that Tim was struggling against Lou's hold.

"Stop it ya damned idiot, didn't ya learn nothing from Bobby Jensen?"

"What the hell are ya talking about Lou?" Tim demanded, turning towards the other man and momentairily forgetting about Bo and L.B..

"Look at what Bobby and them other men did, do y'all really think that was right?" asking not only Tim, but the others in the bar as well.

"That was different," Tim insisted.

"How? Cause you ain't planning to rape anybody? They ain't hurting ya none Tim, nor any of the rest of ya either. Hell they're kind of helping ya," Lou pointed out.

"How do you figure that?" somebody asked, as Lou had known they would.

"Think about it, if Bo is with L.B., he ain't trying to go after the girls..."

"Still don't make it right," Tim argued.

"Yeah well I had time to think about it after what happened before and I decided that it ain't my job to punish people I don't agree with."

"So you're just gonna let them go on with their perversions?"

"Yep, long as they don't expect me to join 'em and they ain't making out in front of me, I don't much care what they do."

"Yeah well I say we should run 'em both out of town! Who's with me?" Tim asked. Looking around the bar, he was surprised to see that the others had all sat back down. "Y'all want to let a couple of queers live around decent folks? Is that what you're saying?"

"Give it up Childress, Lou's right," a voice from the bar called out.

"No he ain't!" Tim yelled back. Seeing that he would get no support from the rest of the bar, he shook his head in disgust and stormed out of the building.

"Thanks Lou," Bo called as the other man began to walk away.

"You're welcome Bo, but like I told Tim; I think we'd all appreciate it if ya's don't go making out in front of us," Lou responded.

Blushing furiously, Bo mumbled his agreement, sitting down heavily in his chair. As the other patrons began to return to their own conversations, Bo finally looked up. "What?" he demanded when he saw L.B. grinning at him.

"Nothing, just you're awfully cute when ya blush," he teased, relief making him nearly giddy.

"It ain't funny," Bo protested, though his words lacked any real heat.

"Sure it is, but I'll stop. You know I do kind of like that idea."

"What idea?"

"Making out," L.B. answered with a smile. "What do ya say we head up to our spot?"

"Sounds good, let's go," Bo quickly agreed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After that first date, the people of Hazzard quickly became accustomed to seeing the two men together. Though Bo and L.B. did go out on dates, most of their time together was spent alone at their special spot or in L.B.'s room. Several months went by, both young men finished with their physical therapy and were pronounced to be as good as new.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"L.B., you're sure Cooter won't be home tonight?" Bo asked, lying in his lover's arms.

"I'm sure, he's staying the night in Atlanta so he won't have to make another trip tommorrow. He sure was mad that they messed up his order and left off the one part he has to have, but I'm glad they did." L.B. observed, running his fingers up and down his lover's chest, gently caressing his skin.

"Me too," Bo softly agreed, turning towards his lover and returning the caress. Leaning forward, he pressed his lips against L.B.'s, running his tongue across his lover's lips, requesting entrance. Moaning with desire when L.B.'s mouth opened, allowing him to delve inside for a quick taste of his lover.

L.B. pushed Bo to his back, returning the passionate kiss, slowly moving down to his lover's throat. Trailing kisses down the other man's chest, he paused to nip at first one nipple and then the other, loving the way Bo writhed on the bed beneath him. Kissing his way down Bo's body, he felt himself growing hard at the sounds being emitted by his lover. Making his way to his lover's feet, he slowly kissed his way back up Bo's legs, until he reached his cock. Kissing Bo's sacs, he roughly ran his tongue up the thick vein on the back of his lover's cock, engulfing the head in his mouth, he began to suck. Moving his head up and down, he swirled his tongue around the tip as he worked, slowly increasing his speed and rythym.

"Oh God babe," Bo moaned with need as L.B. slowly sucked the head of his cock into his mouth. The sensations his lover was creating were quickly overwhelming him. Arching his back, he instinctively pushed himself deeper into L.B.'s mouth, groaning at the deep pleasure his lover was giving him. As L.B. increased his speed, Bo began to buck upward. All too soon, he felt the familiar tingling in his balls, warning of his impending orgasm. "L.B., I...can't wait..."

"Don't wait, cum for me," L.B. whispered. As Bo screamed out his name, L.B. greedily swallowed all his lover had to offer. Finally allowing Bo's cock to fall from his mouth, he kissed his way back up Bo's body until he claimed his lips in a passionate kiss.

"L.B.?"

"What's wrong?" L.B. asked, hearing something strange in Bo's voice.

"Nothing, I...L.B., I want you to make love to me, please," Bo huskily whispered.

"Are you sure Bo?"

"I love you and I trust you Longstreet B. Davenport, please make love to me," Bo asked, ending his plea with a gentle kiss.

"Gladly, but on one condition."

"What's that?"

"If you decide ya can't handle it, you tell me."

"Okay," Bo agreed, silently thanking God for giving him such an understanding lover.

Leaning down, L.B. brushed Bo's lips with a soft kiss that soon turned passionate. Using his mouth and hands, he soon had his lover writhing beneath him. Without breaking his kisses, L.B. reached into the bedside table for the lube he kept there. Applying a small amount to his fingers, he slicked them with lube and gently began to run one finger around Bo's anus. "Shhh, relax angel, it's okay," he soothed as he felt his lover tensing beneath him. When he felt his lover relaxing, he continued to kiss him as he played around the rim of his rectum. After several minutes of playing, he slowing pushed one long finger into his lover's body. Pushing it in and out, he allowed Bo time to adjust to the strange sensation, before adding a second finger. Moving his fingers apart, he gradually stretched his lover's opening, preparing him for what was to come. As he pushed his fingers inside he searched for that one spot that would send his lover through the ceiling.

"Oh God! What was that?" Bo cried out as fire suddenly erupted in his groin, spreading outward to the rest of his body.

"Like that?" L.B. moaned between kisses.

"Oh yeah! But what was it?"

"You're special spot, all men have it, that's what makes sex between two men worthwhile."

"Can ya do...oh yeah, just like that," Bo groaned as the fire within him built. "L.B. please I want you inside me," he plead as the sensations threatened to overwhelm him.

"Whatever you want angel," L.B. agreed, removing his fingers and beginning to apply lube to his dick. "No, I want you to stay where you are," he spoke softly, stopping Bo as he started to turn over. "I want you to know that it's me making love to you, okay?"

"I love you," Bo replied, pulling L.B. down for a passionate kiss.

After slicking himself with lube, L.B. placed the head of his dick against his lover's rectum and slowly pushed inside. He could feel the sweat running down his face as he resisted the urge to move, giving Bo a chance to adjust to his presence.

As L.B. pushed into him, Bo was unable to keep himself from tensing the muscles. Closing his eyes, he snapped them open as the memories of another man tried to invade the moment. Focusing on his lover, Bo silently reminded himself that he was with L.B., right where he wanted to be. Taking a few deep breaths, he began to relax and was amazed to find as he did that the pain was receding. The more the pain faded, the deeper the pleasure grew until he knew that he needed something else. "L.B., move please," he moaned, pushing against his lover, drawing more of his length into his own body.

That was all L.B. needed to hear, slowly he moved deeper into his lover's body, inch by inch until he was fully encased. Leaning down, he gave Bo a deep kiss as he finally started to move himself in and out of his lover's passage. The tight feeling as his lover's body gripped his dick was pushing him closer and closer to the edge. Reluctantly ending the kiss, he pushed himself upward, slowly increasing the tempo of his thrusts.

Bo couldn't believe how good it felt to have his lover's dick moving inside him, and as L.B. brushed against that special spot, he felt himself growing hard. With a need he couldn't resist, Bo reached for his own cock and began to pump it, until he was matching his lover for speed and rythym. Within moments, Bo was screaming L.B.'s name as he shot his load, covering his hand and stomach with the sticky mess.

The sound of Bo screaming his name and the sensation of muscles clenching around him sent L.B. over the edge. Calling out his lover's name, he came with an intensity he'd never felt before. Slowly he pulled from Bo's body, leaning down he brushed his lips, "Be right back." Rolling off the bed, he hurried to the bathroom for two warm washcloths. Returning quickly, he handed one to Bo as he used the other to clean himself up. Taking the cloth from Bo, he dropped both on the bedside table and crawled into the bed beside his lover. "Love you," he whispered, giving Bo another gentle kiss.

"I love you too, thank you," Bo replied, returning the kiss.

"Thank you? For what?"

"For being patient with me, for showing me how wonderful it can be, for loving me."

"Aw angel, loving you's the easy part and that makes everything else easy too, but you're welcome."

Snuggling into his lover's arms, Bo laid his head on L.B's chest. Relaxing in his lover's embrace, he began to think about the last few months. He wasn't sure what had been more surprising, the fact that he'd fallen in love with a man or the way the people of Hazzard had accepted it. Well most of the people, shoving that thought aside, Bo refused to let those others ruin what had been a wonderful night. As he drifted to sleep his last conscious thought was one of amazement, that a horrible misunderstanding had led him to the love of a lifetime.

The end.

Well this has by far been my longest story yet, but a very satisfying one. Hope y'all enjoyed the ride, please review and let me know.
