chapter one

Author Notes: This chapter is a little bit rushed because I kind of wanted to hurry to the good bits.. namely Clark and Lex having sex and stuff. Hopefully this chapter hasn't suffered too much as a result... but it does hold some vital information.

constructive criticism is good, they help make a chapter become better.

===================================================

Chapter one: In which Lois gets the shocking news, and the AI is smoking crack.

“WHAT??” Lois practically shrieked loudly as she gaped at Clark.

She then got up and paced around. “Look, the whole thing about Kryptonians and humans being related and thus being able to breed together easily was very interesting. I was even okay with the fact that Kryptonian males could apparently get pregnant with help from the females. But... you're serious about actually doing THAT??”

Clark tried to interrupt. “Now look, I don't have to--”

“I always prided myself on being highly open-minded on a lot of things,” Lois plowed on, oblivious that Clark had tried to tell her something.

“But there's no way I would ever want my own Ex-husband to have sex with other men so soon after our divorce! Do you know how that would look like to other people if they found out that my ex-husband was having sex with a man?? Some people would be saying that I was dumped for a man. That's even worse than being left for the other woman if you actually had the balls to cheat on me. I mean, sure, I've sometimes fantasized about you with other men and about us being in a threesome with guys like Bruce Wayne. So I have no problem with you or your entire race being bisexual or whatever.

But that kind of stuff should just stay a fantasy for now, okay? If it became reality things could just get really awkward for us all, and cause unforeseen problems.”

Clark raised both eyebrows at this. Wow... just wow. He had no idea that Lois had such kinky fantasies. His cheeks heated at the mental image of Bruce Wayne, Lois and himself all together in bed.

But before he could deluge too deeply into what that fantasy was like to Lois, he replied: “Well, I actually don't need to have sex with the man of my choosing... all he has to do is just donate his sperm to me, and the AI at the fortress can artificially inseminate your eggs inside me. It would be just like In Vitro Fertilization for women. They don't need to have sex to get pregnant. So you don't have to worry about anybody finding any discriminating evidence of me with a man.”

Lois calmed down at this. “Oh. Well, why didn't you just tell me that in the first place? You made me get worked up over it for no good reason!”

Clark, who was still imagining his Ex-wife and Bruce Wayne in a threesome with him, just blushed and mumbled an apology.

Lois nodded. “You actually want kids that badly, huh? Alright... I guess I can agree to this.” she paused, and then smirked. “This could be kind of nice, actually. Usually it's the women who has to make sacrifices and do all the hard work while the men gets to keep everything they have, career and all. It's going to be refreshing to see that reversed completely.”

Clark grinned back. “You're probably wishing that all males on earth would go though this at least once right now, huh?”

Lois giggled slightly, and answered back: “Cliche as it sounds, but I really do think that if most men understood what women had to go though, then maybe it wouldn't be so hard for us sometimes! So yeah, I do wish this sort of thing happened more often.”

She then frowned as she thought of something. “But what are you going to tell people? I mean I won't be carrying the child... and if you appeared with a new baby after nine months people are going to ask questions.”

“I just figured we could tell them that my baby was adopted, or that a relative give me custody of the baby because they couldn't take care of it. I've been thinking that I could get Perry White to let me work from home, with my excuse being that I needed to prepare us for the arrival of my 'adopted' child. This way they wouldn't be able to notice my pregnancy neither.”

Lois nodded. “Yeah, that makes sense. And I'm sure Martha could help with the adoption bit... after all she knew where to go when she had to fake papers for you, right?”

Clark nodded back. He then smirked. “So.... Bruce Wayne with us in a threesome, huh? Never knew you had those kinds of thoughts....” he teased his ex-wife slightly.

It was Lane's turn to blush deeply. “Oh shut up. He's very attractive, you know. Also Between the two of you, you look very similar if you take off your glasses. So it'd be like I would be having sex with a pair of hot attractive brothers without having to deal with the whole incest issue.”

At Clark's slightly stunned expression, Lois rolled her eyes. And started teasing back “What? You never even fantasized about having a threesome with two hot sisters? Or women in general? Oh wait... you're Smallville. I bet you never even had a single dirty thought....”

Clark then looked thoughtful. “Well.... there was that one time during Trig class in high school where I thought about what it would be like if Chloe and Lana got together and let me watch....”

Lois then shuddered. “Ugh! My cousin and your ex-girlfriend?? Eww... I'm sorry I asked.”

Clark laughed, relieved and surprised that Lois had taken it all so well.

But then again, Lois Lane had seen her share of weird stuff over the years so the idea of Clark aka Superman being able to get pregnant was probably the least weird thing she had heard of.

Clark was more surprised to hear that Lois apparently objected more to the idea of him having sex with men so soon after their divorce, out of the fear that the gossipers would have a field day with it if anybody found out. Thinking more about it he supposed it made sense, in a way.

Lois would end up getting a lot of pity from virtual strangers, who would think that Clark had been gay all along but had lied to Lois as his cover. While Lois was being pitied like that, Clark would be made to look like the bad guy for leaving her for a man.

Lois completely loathed it when she was pitied for anything at all. She was one of those people who felt that pity equaled seeing somebody as weak or something like that. Plus, she still adored Superman in her own way and she didn't want to see Clark's reputation hurt because of this.

“So...tell me more about Jor-El's theory. This just screams headliner news to me after all... You don't mind, right?” Lois asked, with a wicked gleam in her eyes.

Clark grinned. “I don't mind actually. It was a part of the reason why I told you, actually. I was so shocked when I found out the real reason why Jor-El sent me here. I honestly thought that Earth had just been on a list of habitable planets that he choose at random. After all, throughout my adventures with the Justice League, I've discovered that there's actually many human-looking life-forms out there with their own planets. I could have landed on any one of them instead of Earth if you think about it. After all, it'd be just as easy for me to blend in just like I do here. But instead Earth was chosen because it had people that more closely related to Kryptonians than other alien races out there. Hell, Humans are practically ancient Kryptonians!”

Lois shook her head, sighing. “To be honest, I can't even imagine what the world here would be like if that had happened instead. I'm very happy that you came here.”

Clark smiled. “Me too.”

They looked at each other for a few moments, thinking how lucky they were to have met each other or met certain people. Clark then broke the silence by talking about the evidence that Jor-El had gathered to support his theory before his death, while Lois listened with rapt attention.

-------------------------------

Lois went ahead and wrote news story about the real reason why Jor-El had sent Superman to Earth. It stirred up this huge controversy amongst scientists and evolutionists and it was all anybody would talk on TV for days.

Half of the population was skeptical that Kryptonians and Humans could be actually be related, but the other half was convinced. After all, who wouldn't like to think that Superman was actually related to humans? Plus, despite being an overpowered Alien he looked so much like a human. The other half then became convinced that all those meta-humans on earth was actually genetic throwbacks to ancient Kryptonians.

Plus everyone was scared or intrigued over the fact that Superman could apparently breed with any human he chooses on earth rather easily. That was the other thing they talked about-- the repercussions of Superman having kids.

One superman already had a huge impact on the world, after all. What would the world be like with mini-supermen running around?

Some paranoid people even feared this would be how superman would actually take over the world—By constantly breeding with humans. Even more surprisingly, and frighteningly enough, there was actually people who wanted this to happen, just so that they could have a chance to have sex with Superman. There was even women going on TV to publicly state that they would bear superman's children any time he wanted them to!

Plus a few pregnant women who claimed that they were knocked up by superman, although they had no real proof at all. Lois laughed at this part for days on end.

Clark was surprised that they had given it so much attention.... he didn't think that Jor-El's hypothesis would make such a big deal, and he was somewhat embarrassed about all the attention over it. Especially since how it was unproven to start with anyway.

He even found himself apologizing to the Justice League members over this, even though he had no idea why or what he was apologizing for. Although he did worry a little bit that some of them would think he was an attention whore for having told Lois about that AND then letting her publish that.

Thankfully, most of them wasn't too upset about Superman taking up most of the national attention right now... if anything there was certain members who seemed deeply amused by the whole thing.

Flash joked that the Inquirer was going to have to replace their Alien abduction section in their newspaper with Alien pregnancies instead because of all the pregnant women who were coming out of the woodworks to claim that they were knocked up by him.

At any rate, all this attention didn't exactly help him get his mind off his desire to have children. If anything, all this focus on his future brood was making his desire even more worse!

It was actually taking all of his super-will to not go out and jump the first person he saw. And to make things even more worse, he would catch himself checking out people and gauging whenever they would make a good sex partner or not. He had even checked out Jimmy Olsen, for Pete’s sake!

Seeing Jimmy Olsen as a sexual being was the last thing he wanted to do.... that boy was exactly that, just a boy. Sure, he was 20 years old now and therefore legal, but you wouldn't have known it to look at him. He still looked and acted like a 17 year old at times, just like when he first joined the Daily planet.

And Clark was nearing his thirties now, so he felt like a dirty old man for even doing that... he basically had to visualize applying copious amounts of brain bleach to his own mind before he could even feel clean and pure again.

And because his sexual drive was getting so bad, he went back to the Fortress again to see if there was something wrong with him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Put simply, what you're feeling are just biological urges to seek the perfect mate now that you have a strong desire to have children.” Jor-El said this as if he thought Clark was a moron for not even realizing this.
“So... you're telling me I'm going to be in heat until I find somebody to knock me up?” Clark asked, completely dismayed by this thought. What if he went out of control and picked the wrong person? What if it was going to be some random person off the street??
Before Clark could go into a complete panic over this, Jor-El knocked him for a loop by saying that he already computed a complete list of viable mates for Clark and narrowed it down to three men. So all Clark had to do was ask them to let him collect their sperm.
Clark then went up to the massive computer screen and read though the list that the AI had complied for him.
The list looked something like this:
*Lex Luthor *Bruce Wayne *Oliver Queen
*Wally West *John Stewart *Arthur Curry
*J'onn J'onzz *Pete Ross *Ray Palmer
*Ted Kord *Michael Jon Carter *Jimmy Olsen
Well, the List was mostly Justice League members, just as he thought.
Did he honestly have no male friends outside of his Superhero group? He then tried to recall the normal male friends he had as Clark Kent.... and came up short. The only one he could think of was Jimmy Olsen and Pete Ross. There had been Lex too once upon a time, but....
Man, that was kind of sad.
They were on the List that Jor-El had came up with too. To be perfectly honest, that kind of freaked him out. For a second there he thought that Jor-El might had read his mind regarding Jimmy earlier.
Pete Ross was now married with a family of his own now, and they hadn't been in contact with each other for a while now. Again, it would be way too weird showing up out of the blue asking for a sperm donation.
Jor-El would have to be on drugs if he even thought that Clark would seriously consider them both as sperm donors! Well, that was AIs for you... even though they were Artificial Intelligence, that didn't mean that the things that they did and thought had to make sense at all.
Oh well, at least the AI had the sense to cross those two off his list of viable men.
The other thing that caught his eye was the fact that Lex Luthor had been the first name on the list. He wondered if that was deliberate on Jor-El's part for some reason.
“Lex Luthor? Why is he first on this list?” Clark questioned the Hologram.
Jor-El made an shrugging motion. “I thought it made perfect sense. After all, he's biologically superior to the rest of the humans thanks to the Kryptonite altering his genetic makeup. He's also smarter than the avenge human. And, despite the fact that you two have been at odds for quite some time now, he was kind enough to provide you with a son. Kon-El, after all, is a very fine young man.”
Clark scoffed. “Well, Kon-El is the only right thing Lex's ever done in his current life. The rest of the time... it's like he's been aspiring to be a poor clone of Lionel Luthor.”
He then sighed, growing slightly melancholy. He could remember a time when Lex Luthor fought to be completely different from his father Lionel, and tried so hard to be a good guy. It had also been a time when the two of them had been best of friends. Sometimes, Clark looked back on those times and wished that a rift hadn't appeared between the two.
There was times that he had wondered, that if he had been completely honest with Lex instead of pushing him away with his lies, that Lex wouldn't had gone over to the dark side so to speak.
Lex had felt that Clark apparently didn't feel the same way about their friendship, that Clark didn't trust Lex at all. And because of that, he had given up on their relationship. Not only that, but Lex had given up on his quest to be virtuous and different from his father, much to Lionel's delight. And Lionel, upon dying from a kidney disease, had died thinking that Lex had “outgrown” his rebellious phase and turned into the ideal businessman and heir.
Of course, Clark still blamed Lex for most of the breakup in their friendship. Lex had evaluated Clark way too much, and put him on this pedestal.... even going far as to see Clark as his own moral compass.
Clark had tried to get Lex to see that it wasn't true at all... that he had his failings just like everyone else. But Lex had been stubborn, and gotten angry when he finally realized that Clark wasn't as perfect as he thought. And so Lex had made the choice to turn away from the path of justice and moral virtues.
But still, he still wondered if he had a large part in Lex's downfall.
As if reading Clark's thoughts, Jor-El said, “Lex Luthor doesn't seem to feel the same way towards you as you do him. It would still seem that he still holds some degree of affection for you, even if it is laced with bitterness and disillusionment. Otherwise, why would he create a son that had both your and his genetic information? This is why I do not think that he would decline your request if you asked for his genetic material. Not to mention I think he would also see the logic of having more offspring related to him, even if he cannot have anything to do with them.”
Clark looked up, feeling a slight hope in his chest. “You really think so?”
Jor-El nodded, smiling softly.
Clark smiled back. As much as he was angry at Lex most of the time, he still hoped that one day that fences would be mended, and their friendship put back together.
He then got up. “Mind if I print out that list of yours and go talk to Lois about it? I still need to think it over.... this is a lot to take in at once to be honest.”
“of course, Kal-El.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He had actually found himself evaluating everyone on the list, and observing how they interacted with each other rather carefully. He stared at them thoughtfully for long periods of time when he thought they weren't looking his way.

It even got to the point where some people noticed this, and asked him if he was feeling okay since he was behaving so oddly.

He just blushed violently and denied that anything was wrong at all.

At least he had confirmed what he had thought-- that most of the men on the list he would never consider being intimate with, much less see as a good sperm donor. Again, if Jor-El was still alive and not a Hologram, Clark would have wondered if he was doing drugs or something like that. He wondered if there was such a thing as digital crack for Ais.

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold? Those two were so far into the transparent closet that it wasn't even funny, and they clearly had a thing for each other although they were (blissfully?) unaware of it.

The Atom? He barely knew the guy although he had worked with him on occasion.

Aquaman?? The guy tended to be a little bit of a braggart... definely not his type at all.

Not to mention that if he ever got sperm donations from the Martian Manhunter, there was a possibly that Lois and Clark's child could end up with green skin. Now THAT would had been hard to explain to the general public even if they passed the child off as an adopted child. Sure, The Martian was a shape-shifter and could change his skin... so it stood to logic that the child could too, but still it was too risky.

But he just put it down to strange AI logic. After all, he did know them, and they were super-powered beings which Jor-El would have seen as a plus. It was still weird, though.

And there was people like Wally West aka the Flash and John Stewart. He enjoyed spending time with them, and they even sometimes went out for fun. But the two guys were in a relationship with their girlfriends. If the two ever got married, their wives wouldn't probably be happy that their boyfriends donated their sperm to make a baby for somebody else. He didn't want to cause any complications for those two.

So it would had been better to use single guys... and that left the three guys on the top of the list... which was probably the same path of logic that Jor-El had followed when he made the list.

Now he just had to work up the courage to ask those three guys before his libido got out of control. Man, this was going to be so embarrassing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He fidgeted as he waited for a chance to ask one of the potential donors. He was hanging around the Justice League headquarters, waiting for a chance to talk to Green Arrow, but every time he approached the green-clad man something seemed to come up. Man, it was as if he couldn't catch Oliver alone... EVERYONE seemed to want to talk to Oliver today. Oliver was usually alone but at a time when Clark needed to talk to him, he wasn't. It was maddening.
A black gloved hand touched his shoulder, snapping Clark out of his reverie. He turned around to see Batman staring at him.
Clark then smiled at the Dark Knight. “Hey. Just the other guy I wanted to see!” He then looked nervous. “Actually, I've been meaning to get you and Oliver queen alone so that I could talk to you two about something important.”
Bruce made a hmm-ing sound as his icy blue eyes took in Clark's nervous expression. He then asked: “Would this have to do anything with why you've been acting so strangely the past month?”
Clark blinked. “How have I been acting strangely?”
“Well for one thing.... you seem as if you're completely preoccupied with something to the point of zoning out during important meetings and in conversations. And on top of it you kept on staring at certain male members here at the watchtower. In fact Blue Beetle and Booster Gold were convinced that you were undressing them with your eyes... X-ray style. Flash and I kept on telling them that you were married to Lois before and that far as I knew, had always been straight. So that couldn't be possible. But that still didn't quite convince them—they said that Lois Lane could be just a beard for you.” Batman's lips quirked up at that part, as if he couldn't even imagine Lois being willing to marry a gay man just to cover for him.
“Oh.” Clark was stunned, mainly because he had been so sure that he had been discreet about it. He then answered: “Well.... I've actually been checking out all the male league members that I know. But not for the reasons that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle thinks... I wasn't even using X-ray at all. But yeah, that was actually related to what I wanted to talk to you and Oliver about. But I want to talk to you alone... I don't want rumors flying all over the watchtower any more than it has already.”
Batman gazed at Superman, and then nodded. “Very well. Let's go fetch Oliver, then. I know a nice secluded place on the watchtower all three of us can talk in.”
Clark then smiled. “Thanks, Bruce.”
With that the pair went over to the group which Oliver was chatting with. The group was mainly Justice League members from other countries, since how the watchtower was doing a new international program for Superheroes. But as a result, Superman wasn't exactly very familiar with half of them. However Oliver seemed to be familiar with at least four of them, since how he appeared as if he was holding a conversation with all four of them.
That was when he overheard parts of the conversation as the two of them came closer.
“And so Starman said he wanted to have children with him. And not only that, but he wanted children that was biologically theirs. They heard about some scientific advancements that would allow two people of the same gender to have children that was biologically theirs. The scientists actually succeeded in creating a test tube baby for a lesbian couple. so now they're looking into it.” A dark-skinned woman was saying. Superman took a few seconds to try to recall her name... and the name Maya came up although he wasn't sure if it was her name.
Oliver actually seemed disturbed by this. He then said: “Really? Jeez... that's just so disturbing and wrong on many levels!””
The exotic-looking super-heroine frowned. “How so?”
“Oh come on, you don't see the problem with that?” Oliver seemed shocked that Maya didn't seem to understand. He then explained himself. “I'm not prejudiced against gays, okay? But statistics show that Gay people are far more likely to be mentally unstable and have a history of chronic depression to the point where they often attempt suicide or lead a dysfunctional life. Why would anybody want a child born to two mentally ill fathers like that??”
At this point one of the other justice members chimed in. “Really now? You actually believe that homosexuality is a mental illness?? Man, that's so last century.”
Maya nodded. “You're being unfair to homosexual men everywhere. What about all the evidence of Gay fathers having well-adjusted children?? Surely that would prove that they're not so dysfunctional as you think, Green Arrow.”
Oliver just scoffed. “That's just because the kids usually came from divorced families or were adopted. So they don't have the same genes that would create the same instability in life as their dad does. So they actually take more after their moms, and not their gay fathers. Gayness is genetic, after all. So if the kid were actually biologically related to both the homos, then that would mean that he would be two times more homosexual than his fathers put together. Having two men cheat nature by breeding like that and creating something even worse …... ugh, that's even worse than being sex-obsessed like they usually are.”
Maya just stared at Oliver as if he grew two heads, and then sighed in a disgusted way. “Whatever.”
Clark and Bruce had joined the group already at this point, and Clark was completely shocked by what he had heard. He would have never guessed that Oliver Green would be such a bigot. Especially when Green Arrow liked to pride himself on being a Liberal.... a political group that often supported gay rights. That seemed almost hypocritical now that he thought about it.
Well, Clark was now certain that he definitely did not want Oliver Green to be the sperm donor. Clark didn't really consider himself gay but he had been Bi-curious in the past. And now he was planning to get pregnant himself, a role typically reserved for women. Oliver would probably think him to be a complete freak of nature then and refuse anyway.
“Actually... I think I want to talk to you alone right now. Oliver seems to be busy with his gay-bashing.” Superman muttered under his breath just loud enough for batman to hear.
Batman just simply nodded, and said “follow me.”
The pair turned and walked away just as Oliver Green finally noticed them and called out to them. They ignored him.
They went into a dark room, one that seemed to have no use expect as an abandoned storage room. There was even cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, giving it a creepy atmosphere. No wonder why Batman seemed to like this room.
“Okay, talk.” Bruce replied, his voice deepening and becoming more harsh as he pulled his batman persona about himself.
“Well... how do I start?” Clark muttered. And then he took a deep breath, and then told Bruce: “ I'm going to have kids, or least I will.”
Batman clearly didn't expect this. But he took it in stride as he asked: “Congratulations. But you don't seem too happy about it. What's the big problem?”
“Well... I decided that I'd be the one to carry the baby during the pregnancy instead of a woman now that Lois and I are divorced. But there's actually more to it than that.”
The look on Batman's expression was priceless, and almost made Clark smile over how ridiculous that look was.
“By any chance...” Batman spoke slowly as he stared at Superman with a look of disbelief, “Have you encountered any Kryptonite lately? Differently-colored glowing ones? Or maybe hit your head too hard? Because you seem to think you can get pregnant.”
“No, I haven't encountered any Kryptonite. Of course I can get pregnant. And yes, I am fully aware that I'm a man. Do I really have to point out that I'm an Alien, and thus doesn't really go by the same laws of nature here on earth like humans do?” Clark answered.
Batman stared at Clark skeptically. “If you say so. It just seems impossible is all. Of course, I hope you don't mind if I call both Lois and your mother to confirm what you're telling me. After all, there's still a possibility that you've lost your mind. I mean, if you're fully male as you say you are, how are you even going to give birth? And if you had ovaries that would make you a hermaphrodite. And all the information you've given me on Kryptonians indicate that your race were not hermaphrodites.”
“Ever heard of the male seahorse? The seahorse is fully male, but he still can get pregnant thanks to the female laying her eggs in his pouch during the mating season.” Clark said, “Male Kryptonians can impregnate women, but apparently they also can choose to absorb the females' eggs into his body via intercourse in a very similar manner to the seahorse. So I actually don't have ovaries, just sperm. but I do have a womb-like cavity inside my body that's apparently perfect for a growing baby.”
Batman silently absorbed all that information. He then said after Clark finished explaining, “Okay, that makes sense. But what does this have to do with me?”
Clark then started to blush slightly. “Well.... there's actually a catch to this whole process. Apparently I can't impregnate myself for some weird reason, so I need another male to impregnate me.”
The priceless shocked expression Bruce had before was now nothing compared to the expression he had now. “So... you're saying you want ME to impregnate YOU?”
Clark couldn't help but laugh and smile at the other man's stupefied expression. “Pretty much, yeah.”
“And Lois is actually okay with you using her eggs for this?? Just so we're clear here.”
“Yeah, she's fully aware of the plan. In fact I asked her how she would feel about it before I went though with asking you, and she said she didn't mind.” Clark replied. He then smirked, wanting to see more of the stupefied batman. He walked closer to Bruce, and then lowered his voice to an almost seductive tone.
“You know.... she told me during our conversation about having kids that she sometimes wondered what it would be like if you joined us in bed. She always had this threesome fantasy that induced both of us with her, and didn't tell me about it until I mentioned the fact that I might ask you and others if they could be my sperm donor.”
That last piece of information had the desired effect, as Batman looked like he was about to die from shock. Clark couldn't help but wonder if he was a bad man for delighting in making Batman this uncomfortable. After all, Batman was so normally unflappable and so stoic... it seemed as if nothing could shock him, much less throw him off his game. And well, sometimes Clark just wanted to see him be thrown for a loop sometimes.
And to his surprise and delight, Bruce actually seemed to be blushing now under the cowl!
Clark found this to be somehow cute, and he just wanted to wrap batman in a hug. So he did, and he couldn't help but notice that Bruce smelled so good.
Clark then decided that it was enough teasing for now. He then remarked casually, “Of course you don't have to have sex with us if you don't want to. You could just give me your sperm in a container and I could have the AI at my fortress artificially impregnate me with your genetic material. But that's only if you agree to it.”
“It's just all so sudden....give me some time to think about it?” Bruce asked, still looking shell-shocked by the entire conversation and by Clark's obvious flirting.
Clark smiled. “Sure. Take your time... I'm not exactly in a hurry you know. We still need time to prepare everything for our future baby.”
Bruce just nodded, and left the room silently.
Clark left the room too as well, only to run into Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.
“Hello.” He greeted the pair.
“Hey, Supe. What was up with Batman? He was blushing like mad when he left the room you were in!” Blue Beetle wondered, as he greeted Superman.
“Well, uhh...” Unfortunately Clark couldn't think of any reasonable question to answer to that, because he was still keeping his future plans for pregnancy still wraps. Instead, he blushed beet red and stuttered like a moron about having something that he needed to go.
With that he super-sped out of there.
With that, Booster Gold looked at Blue Beetle. “Did you see that? Supe's face got red when you asked him about Batman. Just exactly what do you think they were doing in an old dusty storage room together?”
Blue Beetle tsked. “I knew Superman had to be gay, but Batman?? But in a way I guess it makes sense... After all, you've seen how utterly protective Batman is of Superman, and vice versa! They seemed way too close to be mere friends...”
Booster Gold grinned. “Oh man, this tidbit is way too juicy to keep to ourselves! Let's go and tell our friends here!”
Blue Beetle grinned back. “Right behind you!”
With that, the pair rushed towards the social hub of the watchtower to spread the latest piece of gossip.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Things were strangely uneventful after all that. There was little to no crisis for Superman to deal with at all. so Clark was just mostly working at the Daily Planet, and looking for a new place to live.

He also took the opportunity to inform Perry White that he would like to work at home, since he was in the process of adopting a baby and he wanted to be the one to take care of the baby. Perry didn't really understand at first why Clark was looking to adopt a baby so soon after his divorce.

However He just told Clark that he would look into it and see if it would be possible for Clark to start working from home.

And Bruce had been calling him sporadically, with questions such as: “If it's Lois's egg inside you and you use my genetic material, won't that mean it would actually have me and Lois as it's biological parents, with only you as the carrier? Or would it have DNA from all of us? Are there going to be any danger to you and the baby if we go though with this?”

Finally it had taken to the point where Clark had become sick of all the questions and just had Jor-El send all the pertaining data about Kryptonian birth methods to Bruce's computer in the Batcave. The calls had stopped for a while after that.

And there was the times when he was alone, in the apartment, just looking at the now worn paper with the list of possible donors. He had crossed out Oliver's name on there rather viciously that he had almost torn though the paper doing so. Now, Lex and Bruce was the only ones left.

He suddenly had a moment of doubt, wondering if Bruce was going to agree to this plan to get him knocked up. Bruce still hadn't said yes, and he was obsessively looking though all the information about Kryptonian births for anything to indicate that it might go disastrously wrong. Bruce seemed to be paranoid that the baby might burst out of Clark's stomach like the chestburster alien in that one movie, or something like that.

It was as if Bruce was looking for an excuse to say no.

He then wondered if he should ask Lex after all, just in case.

He hadn't really gone to Lex Luthor first like his father had wanted him to. He understood why Jor-El seemed to think that Lex was a good match. Of course, a small part of him hoped that their relationship wasn't so far gone that it couldn't be salvaged. But the truth of it was that Lex and Clark just had so much negative history between the two of them. So it didn't seem likely that Lex would even agree.

Well, if Bruce was going to stall in giving his answer then he would go to Lex and ask him. But first he would wait for Bruce.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was almost another two weeks already and Bruce still hadn't given his answer, claiming that he still hadn't thoroughly researched Kryptonian births before he could reach a convulsive answer.
Clark took that as a sign that Bruce wasn't ready to help him father a child, but were unable to say no to him for some reason. In a way he found it somewhat funny....As Batman he had faced up against the worst of criminals, and had seen so much unspeakable horrors in his time. But apparently the thought of fathering a child terrified him.
Clark had been annoyed about that fact, but the more he thought about it maybe Bruce had a very good reason. After all, some of the children that he had become the mentor to had fallen victim to the villains of Gotham City simply just because they were associated with the Batman.
The original Batgirl had become a cripple in a wheelchair thanks to the Joker. The second Batgirl had been brutally tortured, and had to fake her own death to the point where even Batman thought she had been dead, until a few months ago. Then there was Jason Todd, one of the Robins, who had died. In fact, a lot of the Robins had often been captured and tortured, if not outright killed.
It was one of the reasons why Batman and Nightwing seemed to have a shaky relationship right now. It seemed as if Batman could never catch a break in the soap opera that was his life.
Maybe on some subconscious level, Batman was afraid that the same thing might happen to Clark's future son or daughter just because they also had Bruce's blood flowing though their little bodies.
With that in mind, he was now hovering outside Lex Luthor's penthouse wondering if he was doing the right thing by trying to talk to Lex.
“Are you going to hover there all day, or what?” Lex's voice interrupted his thoughts, and Clark looked down at Lex, who was already walking out into his large open balcony. “You've been doing nothing expect hover there for 20 minutes so far. Are you spying on me? Because I hate to disappoint you but I lead a pretty boring life outside my work.”
With that, he smirked up at Superman.
