The Valley Of No Return

The walk to the camp was becoming a little treacherous; Annie had gotten her foot caught in a root, which brought her, and Alex who had tried to catch her, to the ground. They both let out a scream and a few choice curse words as they landed with a thud. Sam and Dean were up ahead, looking for a safe path when they heard the screams. They looked back to see both the girls on the ground and they rushed over to help them.

“You two Ok?” Sam asked as bent down.

“I tripped on a root,” Annie answered.

“This is why I told you to wear more sensible shoes,” Alex said as both girls were helped to their feet.

Annie just stuck out her tongue as a reply to this and Dean couldn’t stop himself from smiling. Sam looked at the two of them.

‘They really are alike’ he thought to himself and a smile crossed his lips as Alex responded by kicking Annie in the shin.

“Jerk” Alex said with a smile.

“Bitch” Annie replied with a smile of her own.

Dean looked between the two sisters and then at his brother, a huge grin crossed his face. After a moment Alex broke the silence.

“We should get moving, it’ll be dark soon,” She said, adjusting the weight of her backpack.

“Yeah” Sam said as he was suddenly brought back to reality. His mind had drifted a little.

They continued walking for another thirty minutes and it wasn’t long before they heard…

“Are we there yet?” This time it was Dean who spoke.

“No” Sam answered with a sigh of disbelief.

“Why do they have to put these places so far away?” Dean asked looking miserable. He had been upset ever since he had to leave his “Baby” the Impala back in town.

“It’s a woodland campsite” Sam said obviously annoyed with his brother’s behaviour. “If it was in town it wouldn’t be a campsite. It’d be a park.”

Sam could hear Dean still complaining from behind, moaning about how his shoes weren’t meant for hiking, they were meant for “looking good and kicking ass in”. He was suddenly distracted by a slight giggle to his left. He turned to see Alex who had stepped up beside him while he was busy yelling at his brother.

“He always like this?” Alex asked, still giggling slightly.

“Pretty much” Sam answered.

Sam and Alex giggled as they walked ahead.

Thirty minutes later they finally arrived at the campsite, which was lucky because it just started to get dark.

“Thank god” Dean and Annie said in unison, which resulted in them both giggling like idiots.

“Kids” Alex said with a smile as she removed her backpack.

Annie chose the perfect spot, big enough for all four of them.

“Here. This should be big enough for us.” She explained with a smile at the to boys, “What do you guys think?”

“I like it,” Dean smiled back and then added with a quick wink, “Especially liking the view.”

“Can I talk to you for a sec’” Sam asked as he grabbed Dean by the arm and dragging him away from the girls before he even had a chance to protest.

“What?” Dean asked, shrugging him off.

“Are you forgetting why we’re out here?” Sam asked.

“I’m starting to.” Dean smiled as he cast another quick look at the two new “Loves of his life”.

Annie watched the two boys and enjoyed the view. Alex quickly shot her a light elbow to the ribs to snap her out of her lustful daze.

“What are you doing?” Alex asked in a scolding tone.

“What? They’re cute.” Annie whined as she rubbed her ribs.

“And for all we know, they could be cute serial killers.” Alex explained, “Have you not seen a single horror movie?”

“I’m more into romantic comedies.” Annie told her, only to receive a roll of the eyes from Alex.

Sam was lost. He couldn’t believe they were doing this again. Taking civilians on a job where they could get them killed. Dean on the other hand, was liking the idea more and more.

“Come on man. We get the evil son of a bitch and we keep these two lovely ladies company.” Dean argued his case. He saw Sam was about to argue and cut in with, “Don’t be gay.”

“That’s mature.” Sam said, rolling his eyes at Dean.

“Would you rather leave them out here alone with whatever is out here?” Dean challenged and then smiled. He knew he just won that argument.

Sam rolled his eyes again and let out a defeated sigh before he and Dean turned back to face the two new women in their lives. The two were stood there, arms crossed, eyeing the two quizzically.

“Are you two serial killers?” Annie asked in a teasing tone.

“No.” Sam half-smiled.

“Good. Then it’s settled. Which side of the mud pit do you want?” Annie smiled as she set her pack down on a fallen log and opened it to get some of her stuff out.

“Dude,” Dean began as he admired the view he got when Annie bent over, “Dibs.”

Sam rolled his eyes again as he sat back on another fallen log. The group set up camp and made themselves comfortable. Then, before the boys could even offer to, the girls got a fire going. A little impressed, Sam and Dean took seats around it, getting warm.

“Know any camp fire songs?” Dean said playfully as he warmed his hands.

“You mean besides cum-by-ya, no” Annie answered as she fastened her jacket.

“It got really cold all of a sudden,” Alex said as she hugged her knees. She had given Annie her jacket because she knew she’d forget to pack one.

“Here” Sam said, being the good guy that he obviously was, moved next to Alex and covered them both with his jacket.

“Thanks” Alex said savouring the warmth of Sam’s body.

“I taught him that move.” Dean teased, only to receive a mock-annoyed look from his baby brother.

They sat in silence for while, just watching the fire before eventually climbing in their sleeping bags to sleep.

Well the girls slept. The two strange boys they just met had another reason for being there.

Meanwhile

A young man was walking through the woods, he was lost and he knew it. He had only gone for a short walk around the camp, now he couldn’t even see the camp. A cold breeze t blew through the trees and sent an icy chill down his spine.

And then he heard it…

“Danny”

Danny looks around and sees nothing. He had definitely heard a voice. A female voice. But where was it coming from?

“Danny” The voice said again.

Then it hit him. He knew that voice. He knew it so well. It couldn’t be her. Could it?

“Sarah” Danny called out in disbelief.

It was his wife’s voice; she disappeared three years ago and was never found. He had almost given up hope. But it was her. He could hear her. Had she been out here all this time?

“Help me Danny, I’m scared” Sarah called back.

Danny looked around, trying to find her.

“Where are you?” Danny asked, calling out into the dark.

“This way Danny” Sarah replied, her voice was coming from straight ahead, “Please, hurry”

Danny didn’t even think, he just followed. Moving closer and closer towards the beckoning voice until he came to a cave. He didn’t stop to wonder why his wife Sarah was hiding in a cave. Why she was all the way out here. He didn’t even stop to think about who creepy and dark that cave looked. Sarah needed him.

“In here” Sarah said, She sounded so scared, “I need you. Please, help me.”

Danny walked into the cave without a second thought.

The silence of the woods at night was then broken by a heart-wrenching scream that echoed throughout the night.
