Carly's story

Chapter 2

**Carly’s Story**

Carly walks into the large front door of her house standing in the large foyer looking at the mail she sees an invitation to her ten year class reunion. “Wow it’s been that long already? Cool.” She walks into the sitting room right off to the left of the foyer. Sitting on the couch she opens the envelope and reads the invitation. She tosses it on the coffee table; she walks over to the book case and pulls out her yearbook. Returning to the couch she opens the book flips through she finds her and her two old friends standing under the sign for iCarly. She looks sadly at the picture of the three people running her finger over the image of the girl that she stood next to she feels a sad smile as she remembers the day before the picture was taken.

“Hey they want to take a picture of us under the iCarly.com sign for the yearbook!” Sam ran to her two friends.

“Wow the yearbook!” Carly moved to Sam’s side putting her arm around her pulling her closer.
“Yeah now iCarly will be remembered forever!” Freddie spoke waving one hand in front of him as he walked over to Carly.

“Too close.”

“Sorry.” He takes a step away from her.

“So how do they want to do this or more importantly when are they going to do this?” Sam reached into Carly’s front pocket looking for her lipstick.

“After lunch tomorrow. We should dress up really nice for it.” He watched as the blond moved her hand around in their friend’s pocket. He then noticed that Carly wasn’t bothered by this at all.

“No dill weed we should dress the same way we would on the show.” Sam then pulled the lipstick out and brought it to her lips. “The picture should show us as we are.” She then put the lipstick back into Carly’s pocket. All the time holding Carly’s hand that was around her waist. She went to say something else when she caught Freddie looking at them. She looked at how she was holding Carly and took a small step away from her.

“I have to go I have class see you later.” Freddie then turned and ran off.

“What up with him? School’s over and we have rehearsal.” Carly asked

“Who knows...I-I...Carly can we skip rehearsal and talk?”

“Sure what goes on?”

“We just have some things to figure out and we need to do it alone.” She walked over to her locker. “Can you call Freddie and tell him that we’ll do rehearsal later or maybe tomorrow?”
“Sure. Sam, are you okay?”

“Sure see you at your place.” Then she ran off to meet her mother

Spencer jumped as the door slammed opened. Carly throw her bag onto the floor then whipped the tears off her face then slammed the door closed.

“Carly what’s wrong?” Spencer asked from the couch.

“Nothing, I have to call Freddie. We’re not having rehearsal today and Sam is coming over to ‘talk’.” She told her brother while she took her phone out and dialed the boy’s number.

“Wow what up with the air quotes?”

“Nothing.” She put her figure up to quite him and talked into the phone. “Hey I don’t want to rehears today...what? Because I don’t. Sam is coming over I have to talk to her about something that has nothing to do with you so don’t ask.” She then slammed her phone closed without saying good-bye. “I’ll be in the studio tell Sam when she gets here.” She looked to Spencer and started to cry again then she was gone up the stairs,

Carly is sitting on a beanbag chair writing when Sam opened the door and walked over to her.”Hey working on the show?”

“Yeah, Sam why are you mad at me?”

“I’m not I just need to talk. Why do you think I’m mad at you?”

“Just little things.”
“Like?”

“Well you moved away from me in the hall and then you stuttered. You don’t stutter you yell, cuss and hit things but you don’t stutter.”

“True but me moving away from you had nothing to do with you or you doing anything wrong. It was Freddie he was looking at me weird. Then I saw how I was holding your hand and you holding me. I just didn’t know...”

“Sam I’m in love with you!” Carly cried out.

“Ok...you’re in...what now?”

“Oh god, oh god you don’t and I said now you’re all. Oh god.” Carly started to dance around nervously. “Oh no now you’re going to think that I’m this big raging freak that’s after your body!”

“Oh you’re in love...by any chance did you mean fried chicken?”

“Sam!”

“Look I have to go. I don’t know how to.” Sam runs out the door and down the stairs. Carly, falls to the floor crying. “Sam, please! Sam don’t leave me. I need you!” She cries.

“Look it caught me off guard and I didn’t know what to say.” Sam walks in the studio and kneels next to Carly.

“You don’t feel the same.”

“But I do! I think.” She shakes her head then moves so she is looking right into Carly’s eyes and takes her hands. “Look I know when you hold me your arms are the only place I want to be. When I stay over and we sleep in your bed I know I never want to leave. I love the way you cuddle next to me when you sleep and the way your breath feels on my body. I love the way you snore and I love the way your lips feel on my back and shoulders. And I love the way you say my name when you dream. I love the way you feel in my arms and the little catch in your breath when I slide my hands around you to hug you. I love the little almost silent moan you make when I pull you close. And baby I love you, oh god Carly I love you so much.” She pulled Carly in her arms pulling her inches from her own lips. “I love you more than fried chicken.”

“Sam.”Carly sighs

Sam leans in and catches Carly’s lips with her own. She slides her arms around Sam neck and pulls her in closer. Sam wraps her hand into the long dark hair and deepens the kiss. Carly opens her eyes to look at the beautiful blond kissing her. She sees a movement out the corner of her eye. “Sam, Sam!” She pulls out of the kiss and turns to the movement she pats Sam’s leg when she realizes that Spencer is standing at the door.

“Spencer! Oh god we were just um...” Carly tries to move but her legs won’t work.

“Kissing” Sam blurts out.

“Yes I can see that.”

“Spencer! Oh god.”

“I came up to see if you wanted...”

“Pork chops?”

“No smoothies but I can see you’re still...”
“Kissing”

“Sam!”

“What?”

“Okay well I’m going to go and when I get back I think we should...” He stops to see if Sam was going to but in. She was playing with an old nail and a wirer she found. “We should all talk.” They both turn to see if Sam was going to say anything, she was still playing with the nail and wirer, she then hit herself in the face bring herself back to conversation.

“What...smoothies and then talking got it and we’ll come with you.” They walk to the studio door. “Man now I’m hungry for pork chops.”

Carly smile at the memory of the girl she loved so much. She looked to the wall over her desk at the pictures of all three of them together then the pain creped up and hit her in the stomach like a fist from a prized fighter. Tears fell harder and she let out a small groan as the memory of Freddie losing the one most important person in his life, his mother.

The girls are cuddled under a blanket on the couch watching television when the door flies opened and a very worried Freddie runs in yelling. “Spencer, Spencer help.”

“Freddie what is it? Spencer isn’t here.” Carly moves to her feet while Sam is struggling with the zipper on her pants.

“It’s my mom she’s been in a bad accident, she’s at the hospital. She was driving my car because hers wouldn’t start and I need Spencer to take me to the hospital.”

“Hey I’ll take you just give me a sec.” Sam was pulling on her shoes and grabbing her keys. “Carls are you going or what?”

“Yeah I’m coming, Freddie do you have everything you’ll need?” Carly asks the boy.

“I got the hospital pack right here.” He showed her the package that had all of the important papers.

“Okay then Sam you drive, I’ll call Spencer and Freddie you...oh just come on.” Carly grabbed the boy that was once her best friend.

At the hospital in the waiting room Freddie paced the floor waiting for any kind of news. The only thing he was told was she was involved in a car accident with a drunk driver. He was then told that she was in surgery. Carly had gotten everyone coffee, Spencer was reading a news paper, and Sam was pacing the floor with Freddie. Carly would look up from her bad cup of coffee and seen the young man pacing with the deep worry on his face, she wished she could just stand up and pull him into a big hug, but too much had happened.

As Sam would pass him she would take a glance to make sure he was doing okay, there seemed to be more than just worry. “Hey, Freddie...want, to talk?” She asked him with her hand held out.

He looks over to Carly and she gives him a small smile. “Sure but can I ask you a question first?”

“Yeah.”

“Why did you stay...you could have dropped me at the door and left. Why did you stay?”

“You looked like you could use someone to pick on.”

“Oh yeah like that was going to happen. I would just get a good one out and you would...” He was just starting to open up when the sergeant called for a Mr. Benson. All of them stood behind Freddie, just as they would before they had their falling out. “Mr. Benson, as you know your mother was involved in a car accident with a drunk driver. I’m sorry we did everything we could, but there was too much damage... Mr. Benson your mother did not make.it”

Freddie stood motionless as the doctor spoke to him. It was Sam who stepped up and took over the conversation with the doctor. Carly stood by his side and Spencer was behind him. Sam had gotten all the paperwork and put it in the hospital package for him. When she returned to the group of people Freddie was still standing stone still, she notice the look on his face was changing and she knew that this was it he was going to loss it. “Spencer catch him he’s going down!” Sam yelled to her lover’s brother. Spencer caught him with his finger tips, Carly was still at his side, she wrapped her arms around him and fell to the floor. Sam slid to a stop in front of him, she looked as if she was ending a Broadway play.

Freddie started to shake and tears fell harder and he sobbed every time he spoke. “Oh she’s going to need a new dress you know she loves green right?” He looks over to Carly whose arms he was still wrapped up in. “She has this lovely gold necklace I think she would want to ware that what do you think?” Again asking Carly, as soon as he said her name he remembered he had no right to ask he was no longer her friend. Carly looked past him to Sam, shaking his head he tried to smile but failed. “Oh yeah sorry I forgot.” He gentle pushed at her hands to free himself and standing, he started to walk away from the three people that one time was his family.

Sam reached out grabbing his arm pulling him into a hug. “Oh god Sam what am I going to do?” She shudder hearing him say the same words she did when her mother left her. “Don’t worry Freddie I’m here and I’m going to take care of everything.”

She lived up to her promise just as he had two years ago. She made sure he had everything for his mother, the dress the jewelry. She went with him to the funeral home and church to make the finial plans, and Carly made sure the hall and the caterer was booked for the luncheon, she was also in charge of family plans. She made all of the necessary calls to all family members and their respective families.

The service was beautiful Sam, Carly and Spencer sat as his family, he walked out of the church with the girls on his arms. Gibby stood to the side of Spencer at the grave side, even Nevel was there, and he stood by Sam. Lewbert stood behind him resting his hands on the young mans shoulders

“Now we lay our sister here to rest Yea though I walk throw the valley of shadow of death. I well feel no evil. For thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table for me in presence of mine enemies, thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. I will dwell in the house of the Load forever. From ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” Then the priest walks over to Freddie taking his hands. “Go in peace my son.”

Freddie, Sam, Carly and Spencer stayed at the grave side so Freddie could say good-bye. Sam took Carly into her arms as they watched him walk to the casket and lay his hand down trying to stay strong but lost his fight falling to his knees crying. Spencer knelt down next to Freddie pulling him to his side. Freddie turned and sobbed loudly. “I didn’t get the chance to tell her that I loved her, Spencer I didn’t tell her, she doesn’t know I didn’t tell her!” He starts beating on Spencer chest crying out almost screaming with both fists landing hard Spencer pulls him into a
tight embrace. “She’s gone, she’s gone and she didn’t know!” Carly turned her face into Sam’s shoulder and began to cry.

Spencer let him expend his grief before gently pulling him to the waiting limo Carly and Sam trailing behind with tears and soft sobs from both as they watch their once friend being help into the car. Spencer stood straight and tall as the two girl made their way to the other side before bending to escape to the darkness of the car Carly and Spencer exchange an expression of anguish as they remembered the death of their own mother, with a nod form her brother Carly disappeared into the waiting limo and her lover’s arms.

Carly was shaken out her thoughts by a small voice at the door to her office “Mommy why are you crying?”

She opened her arms to the child. “Mommy is just remembering a sad time but everything is okay. Mommy just needs a minute so why don’t you run to the kitchen and get a juice pouch.”

“Okay mommy, I love you!”

“I love you too Freddie.”
