chapter 2

“You just leave that to me. I’ll make a few calls tonight and I’ll tell you all my plan in the morning.” Horatio assured them both before taking his leave. Leaving two very curious members of his team standing in the middle of the hallway.

“You know sometimes he’s just way to good at this type of thing.” she told Eric as they walked together out to the parking lot.

“I know what you mean.” Eric grinned thinking back over the many times Horatio had came to the rescue of multiple members of the crime lab. The man was an unstoppable force when one of his own was in danger. But the grin quickly faded from his face as his thoughts turned to the one man who was hurting and in need of a wake up call.

His thoughts were interrupted when a warm hand came to rest on his shoulder. “Its alright Eric, we’ll get through this. You and Ryan are perfect for each other.”

“Thanks Samantha, I’d better get going. I have a few errands to run before I go home.”

“Bye Eric.” she called after the retreating figure of her friend. Shaking her head she slid behind the wheel of her car and headed home. And for the entire drive she couldn’t stop thinking about Ryan and what he thought must be going on with her and Eric.

As her thoughts went over the events of the day she could just imagine what her brother was thinking. It never failed where she was concerned. Everyone thought that she could get whatever or whoever she wanted without even trying. But that wasn’t true, she just had better timing and thought things out a tad more clearly than Ryan. And his ocd didn’t help matters either. Damn but she wished she could do something now to ease his pain. But there was nothing to do at the moment but wait for Horatio to tell them what he had in mind.

So she did the only thing she could do, she pushed her way ward thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on getting home in one piece without getting into a wreck. About fifteen minutes later found her sitting on her sofa, cell phone in hand wondering if Ryan would answer if she called him. Probably not but hey it was worth a try and if he didn’t answer she could always leave a message.

One, two, three rings is what she heard and then her brothers answering machine picked up. Letting out a sigh she left a quick message for him to call her back and hung up the phone. ‘Oh Ryan what am I going to do with you?’ she thought to herself as she fell asleep waiting on her phone to ring.
