Chapter 2

Jen woke the next morning, with a headache that she thought would make her head explode. She sat up in the bed much to the protest of her head and saw Sam sleeping in the chair, snoring softly. She gazed at him, and couldn’t believe how cute he looked sleeping. She slowly got out of the bed and padded to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on her face. When she came back out she saw that Sam was awake.

“Hey, you okay?” he asked her stretching out his long legs.

“I guess. I just got a killer headache. What happened last night?”

“You passed out, not long after we got back here, you must have been pretty tired.”

Jen blushed, “Sorry, I think I had too much to drink.”

“That’s okay.”

“I need to get back to my room, got some things I need to take care of, but umm here is my cell number.” Jen said handing him a piece of paper with the number written on it.

Sam gave her a smile and watched as she opened the door and then saw Dean standing there.

“Hey Dean.” Jen said walking around him and going back to her room.

Dean shut the door behind him, and flopped down on the bed and kicked his shoes off. “Man I thought I was gonna get lucky last night.” He said putting his hands behind his head and looking at Sam.

“What happened?” Sam asked him, a look of amusement on his face.

“I tried to kiss her, but she wouldn't let me. We watched a movie and then Amy laid her head on my chest and fell asleep. I guess she had too much to drink”, Dean said, “What about you?” he asked and when Sam didn't answer, “Well there is always next time.” Dean laughed.

“Dean, dude, these girls I think are worth more than just a one night stand. We’ll be here for a bit, get to know them at little at least. For once.”

Dean looked at Sam like he had gone crazy. As a rule Dean didn't get into relationships. The longest he had been in one was…he shook that thought away, relationships just weren’t his thing. But Sammy was a different story, at least at one time.

“Fine Dude.” Dean huffed.

Jen stumbled into her room and saw that Amy had gotten up. “Hey Amy, how was last night?”

“I fell asleep soon after we got back into the room. Dean thought he was gonna get some, poor baby.” She giggled.

“Yea, Sam said I passed out.”

"You mean you didn't..." Amy asked.

Jen opened her mouth to answer, but heard her cell phone ringing. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw Bobby’s number on it. “Hiya Bobby.”

She said as she sat on the edge of the bed.

“Hey Jen, you girls doing okay?”

“Yea were good, just had a bit too much to drink last night.”

“Meet anybody?” He inquired.

"That is a little personal don't you think Bobby?"

"Jen?"

She sighed, “Yea two guys...Sam and Dean. Why?”

“I sent them to help you guys out.”

“What?” Jen said with complete surprise, sitting straight up on the bed.

“They are the best hunters out there, they’ll come in handy.”

“But Bobby, we can handle ourselves.”

“I don’t care Jen, let them help you. You two are like daughters to me and I don't want you alone on this.”

“Fine Bobby.” She sighed.

“Alright, call me if you girls need anything.”

“Okay.” She said before sliding her cell shut.

“What did he say?” Amy asked her.

“Those two guys last night, are here to help us.”

“We don’t need there help.” Amy insisted, a bit aggravated.

“I said that, but he said to take their help.” Jen sighed.

"Why did Bobby wait 'til this morning to tell us, what's up with that?"

Jen shrugged, "Sam and Dean didn't say anything either. Hold up...Sam and Dean. Why didn't we realize before...Winchesters."

"The Winchesters...Jeez. What was all this, some kind of test?"

The two girls cleaned up and got dressed before heading to Sam and Dean’s room to talk to them. Just as Amy opened the door, she saw Dean standing there.

“Dean…” She said and crossed her arms over her chest in a defensive stance, “What's up?”

“Bobby told us you girls were here.” he confessed.

"Ah really, thanks for the update. Yea, Bobby just told us this morning." Amy sounded annoyed.

“Yea he said you guys are here to help us.” Jen said from behind Amy, “But I think we are capable of handling ourselves.”

"I second that." Amy added, giving Dean a challenging glance.

“Bobby said that you would probably say that.” Dean said, scratching his head, “How 'bout we take you two to dinner later? Bobby said we have to drive south of here tomorrow.”

“Whatever.” Amy acted indifferent and glanced over at Jen with a shrug.

“Alright we’ll see you girls at six.” Dean said with a smile.

Later that evening Jen and Amy were just finishing getting ready to go to dinner with Sam and Dean. Jen had put on a dark blue satin finish, spaghetti strap dress that grazed just below her knees and some zip up leather ankle boots, that looked a bit like motorcycle boots. Jen had that bad ass fashion sense and besides, she hated high heels. Amy put on a sleeveless v-neck, silk red dress, that scrunched in and tied under her breasts. The dress pushed up her cleavage and went to her ankles. She wore zebra print high heels to add a bit of her funky style. Both of them applied a bit of make-up and styled their hair.

"I don't know why we are getting dressed up, this isn't supposed to be a date J." Amy raised her voice enough to be heard, from the bedroom of the motel room as Jen was almost done straightening her hair.

"Because we never get dressed up and go anywhere civilized." Jen called back.

"I thought we were just gonna talk about how we don't need them to hunt with us, cause we are not some damsels in distress that need knights in shining armor to rescue us", Amy complained, "We can discuss that at a bar....or someplace with a drive-thru." she finished as Jen emerged from the bathroom.

Jen smiled at Amy, "Did I mention that they are paying?" Jen teased.

"Don't need them to pay either, I wanna go dutch."

"Would you relax, what has your panties in a wad?" Jen asked.

Amy shrugged from her seat on the bed, "I don't know, I still don't get why no-one told us that they were the Winchesters." Amy put emphasis on 'the' and drew out the E. "What if we had...you know...gotten to know them in the biblical sense?"

Jen giggled, "Would that have really been so bad?"

"Jen?"

"I know girl, I'm just teasing...maybe", she winked, "I am actually pissed about it too, but we will get it straightened out at dinner?"

Amy huffed, "Fine."

There was a knock at the door and Jen asked Amy to get it while she tried to find a strategic place to hide cash on her, just in case. Amy opened the door and Jen noticed that Sam and Dean looked as cute as could be. Sam was wearing black slacks and a navy blue button up shirt. Dean had a nice jacket over a black t-shirt and faded jeans.

"Wow, you two look amazing." Dean said, when he saw them both, then checked Amy out from head to toe and settled his gaze on her cleavage.

"He says to her breasts." Amy mocked him, breaking his gaze from her chest.

Jen heard Sam try not to laugh from behind Dean and he stepped around him and took Jen by her hand, "You do look great." he said to Jen, looking her in the eyes, "both of you." he added, looking toward Amy.

"Thanks." Jen answered for them both. Amy just snickered. She still had her guard up and made no plans to relax, until they had settled this.

The boys let them walk out the door first. Jen went out the door behind Amy and Sam followed her and she could feel his gaze on her. Dean caught up to Amy and slung his arm over her shoulders and they chatted, as they walked to the Italian restaurant, not to far from the motel they were staying at in Missouri. Jen slowed down to walk next to Sam.

"Your brother has a way with women, doesn't he?"

"Yea, he seems to meet someone in just about every town we visit." Sam said, looking over at Jen.

"Well, he will have a more difficult time with my girl there."

Sam beamed a smile, amused by what Jen had just told him," Good, I sure hope so."

As Sam and Jen talked some more, Sam thought about breaking his rule of not getting involved with anyone again. Jen was pretty and the way her silky dress hugged her curves, he could see she had a great body. He found himself wanting to take it off of her and see the rest of her. A smirk played across his lips, as he watched her walk. She was a hunter too, so he knew she could handle herself and would be something to be reckoned with. This made her more interesting than most women. He smiled again at the thought of Amy giving Dean crap, his brother could use a good smack to his ego now and then.

The four of them talked out the problem at hand, and how none of them liked the idea of working together. The brothers had said that it had always been just them and the girls understood that and agreed, but Bobby must have had his reasons to bring them all together and they would all just have to suck it up. Whatever he had them chasing, must have been big.

The rest of the evening went smoother, as they engaged in small talk and even headed to a bar for a bit. At the end of the night, Dean hinted at room swapping again, saying it should be boy girl and boy girl, as nature intended. The girls made excuses and sent him pouting back to him and Sam's room. Sam thought it was funny and Jen kind of wished they had taken Dean up on that offer, being with Sam in his room sounded like one hell of a great idea to her.

The next morning, the girls were getting ready in their Missouri motel room. They had moved their location from Belleville, Illinois to Saint Louis, Missouri, because the bulk of their case would be there. They did have to travel to Savannah, Georgia. That is where a suicide occurred that a friend of theirs, Ash was sure had to be linked to some past suicides. He had seen a picture in the obituaries and the woman photographed, the suicide victim, was sitting in her living room in the picture. Ash had seen something in the background of the photo that had caught his attention. Then Ash had another friend of theirs, Ellen Harvelle, call the girls to tell them they had a case for them. Ellen owned a roadhouse that the girls both frequented, along with many other hunters of the supernatural.

Ellen had a daughter, Joann Harvelle, Jo for short. The young woman wanted to become a hunter as well, like her father, who had been killed, but Ellen forbid it. She would not lose her daughter, like she had lost her husband. Ash was the resident genius of the roadhouse and even slept there. He did some work too, occasionally. You couldn't tell by looking at Ash, or even by the way he spoke, but he was one of the smartest people the girls had ever met. Anyway, soon after Ellen's call, Bobby sent Dean and Sam, who he apparently wanted on this case with them. There was one thing that seemed weird to the girls though, they had never seen Sam or Dean at Ellen's roadhouse.

First, they were to take a tour of Saint Louis' Lemp Mansion and digitally record that tour. Then they were to email the video to Ash, so he could examine the rooms and the photographs that were hanging inside. That, and all other art work contained there in, to see if his suspicions were true. Then, following their trip to Savannah, they were to go back to Lemp Mansion and spend the night. Bobby wanted them to observe and write down any supernatural activity that may occur, even the smallest bump in the night.

Up until now, Lemp was barely a blip on the radar for any hunter, as far as the supernatural was concerned. It seemed the place may have paranormal and haunting activity, but it was unsubstantiated. There had been no real proof, nor had there been any activity that had caused any harm to anyone, at least not since Charles Lemp's suicide in 1949. Or so it seemed. Charles Lemp was the last in a series of Lemp family members to take their own life. In total, there were four suicides in the Lemp family and at least two of of those suicides occurred inside the Lemp Mansion.

Nothing like the four deaths had occurred in their family line before. Not unless it hadn't been made a matter public record. Then, William Lemp Senior inherited the Lemp Brewery from his father Johann Adam Lemp, where he produced the families very popular beer and then subsequently purchased the mansion. Soon after, his favorite son, Frederick Lemp died. Followed by William Lemp's close friend Frederick Pabst. No doubt, William's favorite son was named for his friend Pabst. Pabst's death threw William into an even deeper depression, but he was still reeling from his son's death.

William Lemp Senior was never the same after his son Frederick's death. Frederick Lemp was favored because he was hard working and ambitious, unlike his other family members, including his brother and eventual owner of the family brewery, William Lemp Junior. William Junior also committed suicide, sometime after inheriting the brewery and the mansion. It seemed the Lemp family had been cursed and to this day, there is no explanation as to why they would all take their own lives. Not any explanation that did not include that of mental illness running in the family, anyway. The last member of the Lemp family, Edwin Lemp, managed to escape suicide, but he did not escape the madness. He became afraid of germs, often wearing gloves to avoid them and he was paranoid. He was said to have kept constant companions around, refusing to ever be left alone in the mansion. Edwin lived to well past ninety years old, but his life was a tortured one.
The girls heard a knock on the door and Jen answered it, as Amy loaded her duffel bag. When Jen opened the door, she saw Dean. Sam was standing behind him, looking like he was annoyed.

"Dean, Sam. You ready to head out?"

"Here's the thing, we need to talk to you ladies about that", Dean told Jen.

"You mean YOU", Sam muttered.

"Um, okay. Come on in." Jen stepped aside.

"Hey jelly bean. Hey Sam." Amy beamed a smile, pleased with herself that she referred to Dean as jelly bean.

"Jelly bean?" Dean gave her a look.

"Just playing with nick names, cause that's how I roll."

"Well, I vote no on that one", Dean decided. Sam smiled at the fact that Amy could goad Dean that way.

"You sure?" Amy teased, in a tone that suggested he'd be missing out on something.

"Quite sure", Dean told her, then turned to Jen. "Alright, so, we decided..."

"You decided", Sam interrupted his brother.

"WE decided it would be best to go our separate ways." Dean finished, giving his brother a look that shut him up.

"Okay. Why?" Jen wanted to know.

"Hey now, I'm fine with that idea. Let's not question the man", Amy interjected.

Dean nodded and smiled at her. "See...", he looked at Sam, "see", he repeated and gave his brother an 'I told you so' look. Then he turned his attention back to Amy,"thank you."

"No problem Deanarino."

"No." Dean pointed a warning finger at Amy and tried to suppress a grin.

Sam and Jen giggled and Amy smiled like she was delighted and took on a look of pretend innocence. Then she shrugged and scrunched her face in a look that said, 'whatever.'

Jen focused on Dean. "Seriously, though. I am all for hunting separately, but why did you decide to pull out of this one? I thought we had settled all this, last night." She was still curious.

"Well, we are both confident you two can handle this on your own. I mean, you made it this far by yourselves." Dean answered, laying on the charm, with his best, 'I want the last cookie in the jar' grin.

"Right. Thanks for that. You still aren't answering my question." Jen told him.

Sam smirked, he was starting to like these girls. Anyone who could stand up to his brother and his charms was alright in his book. He seemed to be more drawn to Jen and though that fact bothered him a little bit, he wouldn't mind hanging out with her in the future...and Amy too, of course.

"Apparently, there is something in Bisbee, Arizona that needs our attention", Sam answered for Dean.

"Nice...thanks Sammy." Dean looked at Sam as if he felt betrayed and then turned back to Jen. "Anyway, why are you giving me the third degree? You were just as annoyed with this arrangement of Bobby's as we were." He was getting flustered.

"Fine", Jen said like she was dissatisfied, "See ya."

"Thank you. Let's go Sammy." Dean patted Sam's chest and walked past him. "Later Ama rama banana", he said to Amy without turning around and then opened the door and exited the girls motel room.

Amy nodded and smiled like she was satisfied that he teased her back and approved of the nick name he had just given her. Besides, she deserved it and she knew it.

"So...well, I guess we'll see you later", Sam told Jen, then looked at Amy, "bye Amy."

"Later", Amy said to him.

"Bye Sam." Jen followed him to the door and they shared a look. Jen held the motel room door open as he walked to the Impala. He opened the passenger side door and shared one more look with Jen.

Amy walked to the door and Dean waved at Jen and then blew Amy a kiss. Then he pulled out of the motel's parking lot and drove off.

"I hope he didn't expect me to catch that kiss and put it in my pocket", Amy rolled her eyes and looked at Jen.

"You know you want him", Jen teased her.

"Shaat up", Amy used a goofy tone to shush Jen, "you are just transferring your desire for Sam onto me."

"Oh, look who's using her psychology degree on me. Well, you never actually got that degree, but that is beside the point. Now come on, for you to even think about that whole catching the kiss thing..."

"Blah, blah, blah. Can we go now?" Amy cut her off and grabbed her bag.

"Mmm-hmm", Jen agreed, but used a knowing tone. Amy may have had a point though, she did feel a twinge when Sam was around, and she feared that twinge would grow if they spent too much time together.
