Thanks to my friend and beta Judy for all her help.

Chapter Two

Bright and early the next morning, Alexis was getting ready to go out and do some grocery shopping. Sam and Riley were just waking up and as she joined the two of them in the hall, Alexis asked Sam if she wanted anything in particular for herself or Riley. Sam asked for two jars of Gerber's applesauce, bananas and peas for Riley. Alexis nodded and then she asked Sam what she wanted for herself. Sam paused for a few moments and then she said, "I don't know what I'm hungry for." So she shrugged and Alexis laughed softly.

"Why don't I just pick you up a cheeseburger and some fries? I know you like that." Alexis said to her daughter. Sam smiled and then said, "That would be great, thanks. Let me know when you get back and I'll unload the car for you so that can spend some alone time with Riley." Alexis walked over to her daughter and kissed her on the top of the head. "I've missed you. You know that, right? I'm glad that you're back in town even if it's only for a little while."

Moments later Alexis grabbed her keys and purse and then she was out the door. Sam looked around the house that she had grown up in and decided to walk around and see if her mother had changed anything. However, as she was about to start down the hall again there was a knock on the door. Wondering who would come to visit her mother at eight in the morning Sam quickly walked over to the door and without looking in the peephole, opened the door.

Seconds later she was surprised to find Lucky standing in front of her and went to quickly close the door but he stopped her. "Sam?" Lucky asked surprised. "What are you doing here?" Sam sighed and then opened the door wider to let Lucky inside. She closed the door and then she and Lucky sat down in the living room. Sam switched Riley to her other arm and then she spoke. "I'm in town spending some time with my mother. I haven't seen her in several months and I decided to change that."

Lucky nodded at what she was saying and then Sam asked the same thing. "What are you doing here?" Lucky shrugged and then explained. "Since you left, Alexis and I were both feeling lonely and missing you. We would end up running into each other a lot when trying to find something to get rid of the emptiness." Sam motioned for Lucky to continue. "We ran into each other so much that a week after you left we just decided to start visiting each other in the morning."

Lucky paused and then said, "Well actually, I decided that I would stop by and see Alexis every Saturday morning and kind of check on her, you know? See how she was doing. Sometimes I bring Cameron with me and the three of us have a fun day together." As Sam listened to what Lucky was saying, she knew that it was time to tell him about Riley. As she was just about to do so, Lucky asked, "Who is this young lady?" Sam snapped out of her thoughts and said, "This is Riley, my daughter."

After Sam spoke, there was a heavy silence as Lucky processed what Sam was telling him. "Is she...?" Sam nodded. "Yes. Riley is your daughter." Lucky stared at Riley for several seconds and then he turned his attention back to Sam.

"Why didn't you tell me and why did you leave?" Sam looked Lucky in the eyes and said, "I was your rebound from Elizabeth. I didn't think you loved me or that you would want Riley." Lucky shook his head in disbelief. "So you left without telling Alexis or me where you were going. Damn it, Sam! What if you had gotten hurt or something? You wouldn't have been able to get help! What the hell were you thinking just up and leaving like that?"

Lucky took a few seconds to calm down and when he was feeling better he said, "I'm sorry for yelling at you. It's just that thinking about you out there by yourself - it scares me." Sam nodded and then asked, "Do you want to hold Riley?" Lucky nodded and Sam handed Riley to him. As Lucky was holding Riley he asked, "Why else did you leave? I know that there's something else going on."

Sam nodded and then explained. "Diego and Claudia have teamed up and they want to take me out. I messed up several of their shipments and they’re pissed as hell. Also, Claudia has a thing for Jason. She hates that I was with him and she hates that she can't have him now that he's seeing Elizabeth." Lucky didn't say anything for several moments. He had turned his full attention back to Riley and was staring at his daughter.

She was such a beautiful little girl. Lucky had always wanted a daughter and now he had one. Well, that is if Sam didn't leave again. Lucky sighed. If Sam left again his heart wouldn't be able to take it. He loved her and wanted to give her the world. Sam waited a few minutes for Lucky to say something and when he didn't, she spoke again.

"I know that you're angry. I know that you're hurt and I'm sorry. I was doing what I thought was best at the time and that was to get as far away from Diego and Claudia before they could hurt either of us. I know that there is no chance for the two of us to be together again because you don't trust me. I just want you to know that I missed you the entire time I was gone and that I still love you." Lucky took in what Sam was saying and then he asked, "So now what? Are you coming home for good?" Sam looked at Lucky as she got ready to answer.
