Chapter Two

Clark and Chloe were stunned as they excitedly walked into the café. This was not the Talon’s normal look. There were lights all over the place as well as balloons, bubbles and a disco ball hanging from the ceiling. People were dancing and laughing.

“Chloe, what the hell is this?” Clark asked, glaring at her. “I thought we were coming here to get coffee. How could you do this to me?!”

“I didn’t know, I swear! I’m sorry, Clark.”

Clark knew it was Valentine’s Day. After all, he had dressed up a little and took his mom out for a nice lunch. However she never once mentioned anything about a party here at the Talon. Turning around he was determined to leave but was immediately stopped by Chloe.

“Uh…no wait,” she said. “You are not going to spend the rest of your life hiding out in the barn, either. Let’s go.”

Chloe grabbed Clark’s arm and urged him to continued into the café, listening as he bickered with her about past views of Valentine’s Day.

“Don’t you think after being trapped in the front seat of the Clark and Lana operetta that I deserve a good V Day?” Chloe jokingly said with a smile on her face.

“You are the only person who can make me feel guilty, relieved and sad all in one sentence…” he said, then he thought. *That is…besides Lana.*

Looking at Chloe, Clark could still see some of the remaining pain that she had endured during his and Lana’s relationship. At this point, Chloe’s voice was drowned out with the music. From across the room, Clark saw his angel. Well, she was his angel at one time… He wondered why she was here alone instead of with Lex. Damn Lex!!!

“Can you put that in writing?” Clark replied not even paying attention to the rest of Chloe’s conversation.

He couldn’t take his eyes off Lana not even as Chloe dragged him the rest of the way into the Talon. Eventually he turned away, being secretly glad that she had her back to him. That way he didn’t have to look into her beautiful eyes.

“Welcome to the love fest,” he said.

Then he noticed for the first time that Lois was standing there next to Jimmy.

*Oh goody,* Clark thought. *Just what I need – a pain in the ass.*

“Like the new look Clark,” Lois said, sarcastically. “A whole lot different from wearing flannel all the time ain’t it?”

Clark rolled his eyes. He really didn’t like Lois. He liked his women small and not so loud…but he refused to go there because it only brought up thoughts of Lana.

“I going to get that COFFEE we supposedly came here for,” he said, turning and leaving.

“Well that went great,” Jimmy whispered into Chloe’s ear.

“What are you doing? We were supposed to take Clark out tonight, remember?” Chloe watched as Clark walked to the coffee counter.

“Yeah. But Lois was all alone and then it hit me…Lois and Clark!”

Jimmy thought it was a great idea even though he didn’t know Clark that well since Jimmy was always so quiet and he knew that Lois could be a little annoying at times… Surely, Lois and Clark would make a good couple.

“Lois and Clark…oh no. I don’t think so,” said Chloe, then her voice drifted off. *Is that Lana? Oh god, what is she doing here?*
