It Comes To This

In a private apartment in Starfleet’s earth base the diplomacy section. Spock son of Sarek meditated. This in and of itself was not an unusual or surprising thing. However Spock had been feeling, dissatisfied and disquieted of late. He had already run through every Vulcan form of control he knew with only limited success. Something in his life was not balanced, as it should be, something was missing. So, because this imbalance would no doubt effect his ability to perform his duties as an ambassador and Starfleet commander, it was only logical that he discovered the imbalance and corrected it. Thus Spock meditated.
He focused on the variables within his life that had changed within the last few years. There were many but he had judged this to be the most efficient way and he had all the time he might require. One by one he weighed and considered each option closely. Leaving the Enterprise seems to be the greatest difference, and Spock carefully considered the impact leaving his old duties would have on him, before discerning this not to be the imbalance. He considered other angles of his new position as it compared to his duties upon the Enterprise, his former crew members where not present now, of course, yet Spock had only been close to a few of them. Jim he spoke to regularly, yet this did not seem to sooth him has it once had. One more possibility occurred to him and he considered it at length. It was intriguing really, Spock frowned then settled deeper into thought, this idea as far-fetched as it might seem needed further consideration.
Many hours later he rose, confident that he had found the root of his imbalance, and having come up with a way to remedy the said abnormality. He moved to the computer and began making the necessary preparations. He had a trip a head of him, there was someone had had to see.
