Among Man

I do not own Smallville or Kyle XY.
Summary: Move over Roswell. What if Kyle XY woke up in Kansas and was found by a real alien?
Chapter One
“According to Sheriff Ethan,” Jonathan said getting off the phone, “There is no one fitting your new friends description in the missing persons…anywhere.”
“See,” Clark said and then slapped his blue eyed friend’s hand in order to keep him from sticking a finger in the light socket, “I told you, he fell out of the sky all naked and glowing with this white fire all around him that didn’t burn.”
“Clark,” Martha said looking at the young man’s hand, “People just don’t fall out of the sky…like that.”
“No, I just had a spaceship and a couple million meteors,” Clark said while waving his hands around madly, “Fall my pretties, fall.”
“We know this is all new to you sweetheart,” she said while watching their strange visitor mimicking Clark’s expression and waving his hands about too, “But, are you sure he doesn’t understand a word we’re saying?”
Clark watched the blue eyed young man looking at his hands again and then at all the pictures that were hanging in frames on the wooden walls. A sad look seemed to cross his calm features and was quickly replaced by an understanding warmth.
“What are we going to call him,” Jonathan asked, “Should we take him to the hospital to make sure nothing is seriously wrong with him?”
“He has no belly button,” Clark said and lifted up the red shirt he had helped him put on, “See?”
His stomach was smooth and ripped like Jesus.
“That is odd,” Martha said walking over to look it over, “But I’m sure that there is a medical reason.”
“Why do you think I’m lying,” Clark asked feeling really hurt, “He fell out of the sky in a blaze of white fire so bright it nearly blinded me…not to mention the hard wind and the pearly mist the fire turned into.”
“Are you sure you were not just daydreaming that bit,” Jonathan asked, “I mean after with what happened with Luthor and that psycho at school. I’m sure you’re just stressed, son.”
“Dad,” Clark said and was doing his best to stay calm, “I was hit by a care at top speed. I found out I’m not from this world. I stopped Jeremy from hosting a barbeque…and now I have belly boy who just simply fell out of the sky to deal with.”
“Sweetheart,” Martha said in a soothing voice, “We’re sorry for keeping your origins from you, but we only did what we thought was best.”
“We were afraid that if people found out about you,” Jonathan said, “We would lose our special little boy…and I’d be damned if I allowed that to happen.”
“We raised you in ways that taught you to be conservative with your powers,” Martha told him, “We were afraid that if people found out you were special, then we might lose you.”
Clark was suddenly horrified. He started to see himself being strapped to a cold iron table being opened up and looked at like a frog in biology class. He sure as hell did not want that to happen to him.
“I’m sorry,” Clark said dropping his emerald eyes, “I didn’t mean to yell and get so mad.”
Martha smiled, “It’s all right to be upset with us Clark. This is a lot for a fifteen year old to take in and deal with.”
“I just want to be normal,” Clark said looking up at them, “Like everyone else.”
Martha suddenly gasped and Clark turned to see that his new friend was sticking his finger into a candle flame. He moved to stop him only to suddenly stop in his tracks. The young man was holding the flame in his palm like a child would do a small kitten. He looked to be…cuddling it.
Clark looked at his wide eyed parents, “Now, do you believe me?”
“I guess this rules out taking him to the doctor,” Jonathan said watching the young man in amazement.
Blue eyes looked at Clark with laughter in them as he put the flame out with a small breath.
“Well,” Clark said, “What do we do with him?”
“We keep him safe,” Martha said just as a knock came at the door.
Jonathan quickly got up and went to see who it was and Clark had his new friend sit down next to him. He looked into those azure eyes and smiled, “I need you to sit here and act…normal.”
The young man cocked his head to the side and his dark hair fell across one eye. Clark shook his head and just smiled at him only to get one in return.
“Lex,” Jonathan said, “What a “pleasant” surprise.”
“I’m sorry to bother you,” Lex said from the door while completely ignoring Mr. Kent‘s air quotes, “But I came to speak with Clark.”
“I’m afraid that Clark is in bed,” Jonathan said, “School night and all, Lex.”
“I’m right here,” Clark called out and Jonathan cringed.
Lex did not even bother to roll his eyes. He could tell right off the bat that Jonathan Kent did not like him at all. Jonathan moved to the side and let him in.
“Oh,” Lex said when he saw the young man sitting next to Clark who was flipping through a magazine, “I did not know you had company, I can come back at a more convenient time.”
“That would be wonderful,” Jonathan said only to back off when Martha glared at him, “But since Clark is up and all, go right ahead.”
“Lovely to see you, Lex,” Martha said, “Jonathan and I will go and make some tea.”
“No need for that, Mrs. Kent,” Lex said very politely to the kind woman, “I don’t want to be a bother.”
“Nonsense,” she said getting to her feet, “I’ll make it extra yummy.”
Lex smiled, “Thank you.”
Jonathan growled under his breath as Martha led him away from the three young men to the kitchen. Lex watched them go and then turned back to Clark who was smiling up at him from his seat.
“What’s up,” Clark asked and his body language seemed, tight.
“Who is this,” Lex asked and the young man looked up at him and Lex did not allow himself to gasp. The young man’s eyes were like aquamarine. They were so blue. He was breathtaking…like Clark.
“Oh, how rude of me,” Clark said quickly turning to look at his new friend, “This is my cousin on my mom’s side…Kyle Hudson.”
“Oh,” Lex said with a pleasant smile at hearing that he was only a cousin, “Very nice to meet you, Kyle.”
Kyle smiled at him and turned to look at Clark who said, “He does not speak.”
“What do you mean,” Lex asked.
“He was in an accident,” Clark told him, “So he has basically shunned away from it.”
“Oh,” Lex said with sympathy in his voice, “I’m sorry, Clark.”
Clark felt terrible. He was lying to Lex. Lex was a really nice person when he was not running people over with his fast pretty shiny.
“Don’t worry about it,” Clark said and handed Kyle another glossy magazine to look at.
“I just came to see how you are doing,” Lex said and took a seat across from him when Clark gestured for him to, “You really had me scared when I saw you up on that…cross.”
“It was nothing,” Clark said, “Just some guys at school being stupid. It’s a Smallville High tradition.”
“What a stupid tradition,” Lex hissed which took Clark aback at the anger in his voice, “To do something like that to someone as nice as you. You could of gotten really sick or something. It was freezing out.”
“I’m fine,” Clark said really liking that Lex cared so much, “They do it to someone every year.”
“They,” Lex asked and then remembered the painted red “S” that had been on Clark’s very nice chest, “Who?”
“Nobody to concern yourself with,” Clark said.
“You were calling for help,” Lex said with a calm voice that made Clark very nervous, “You sounded as though you were in pain.”
“I’m fine, now,” Clark smiled, “Thanks to you.”
“Who was it, Clark,” Lex asked, “The basketball team? The football team?”
Clark paled and Lex smiled, “Ah.”
“Don’t tell anyone,” Clark begged, “I’ll never live another normal day of high school again if you tell, Lex. I have this year and three more to go with these guys.”
“Don’t worry, Clark,” Lex said with those cool gray eyes, “Your secret is safe with me.”
Clark nodded and quickly handed Kyle another magazine when he tossed the one he had finished looking at to the side. Either he was a really fast reader or he was just looking at the pictures, maybe both.
“If people are giving you trouble at school, Clark,” Lex said with a smug smile, “Don’t ever hesitate to let me know about it…besides, they’ll never know you had anything to do with it.”
“Okay,” Clark said, “Thanks, Lex.”
“It’s the least I can do for the man who saved my life,” Lex said just as the two elder Kent’s came back into the room with some hot tea.
“Here you are, Lex,” Martha said, “I even put it in a to go cup seeing as how you look like your already on your way out.”
“How thoughtful,” Lex smiled to himself and said, “You are too kind Mrs. Kent, thank you.”
“You come back and visit now,” Martha said as Clark walked him to the door.
“Will do,” he smiled and quickly tasted the tea that was just the right temperature, “It’s…perfect.”
“Why, thank you,” she grinned and elbowed Jonathan who rolled his eyes, “Goodnight, Lex.”
“Goodnight,” he said and let Clark walk him out.
“I don’t think your dad likes me very much,” Lex said as he took another sip of the yummy tea.
“He’ll come around,” Clark smiled, “It’s my mom you got to worry about.”
Suddenly, Lex felt sick as he looked at the cup in his hand.
Clark laughed, “She didn’t poison it.”
Lex grinned. Clark was making him grin. This was…very special. He had not grinned like this in forever.
“I will see you later, Clark,” Lex said as he got in his flashy new Lamborghini.
“Yeah,” Clark told him as he closed the door behind him.
He waved as Lex drove out of sight. Clark could not help but smile.
“I could of sworn that my Dad told him to drive slower.”
He turned around to see both his parents peeking out the door and he rolled his eyes. Why did he suddenly feel like the Men in Black were going to come and take him away this very second? This was all simply too much. This should be a television show or a comic book.
“We heard what you told him,” Jonathan said, “That was very quick thinking, Son.”
“I agree,” Martha said and then looked at her husband, “Go call Ethan and tell him what we’re doing for the time being.”
“Do you think he would be down with that,” Clark asked using one of Pete’s phrases.
“Ethan is a trustworthy person,” Jonathan said, “Unlike some people we have come to know as of late.”
“Dad,” Clark said, “Just because Lex’s dad is a bad man does not make him one.”
“The apple never falls too far from the tree,” Jonathan said.
“Unless that tree is on a very big hill,” Clark retorted.
Martha snorted, “Well, he definitely got you there, Jonathan.”
Jonathan growled, “I’m going to go call Ethan.”
“Now,” Martha said turning to look at her son, “What’s this about being tied to a cross with an “S” painted on your chest?”
