Chapter One

Clark Kent was sitting at his desk in the Torch checking one of Chloe’s articles for grammatical errors only to find none. Senior year was supposed to be fun and now it was all slowly going down hill.

Lana Lang is now possessed by some super powerful countess with some wicked magic and is dating a young man named Jason Teague who she met while in France. Clark had thought that when he destroyed the spell book back in the cave Isobel would go away but her mark was still on Lana. For all he knew Isobel could take over at any moment and start blowing shit up.

Lex is now on this never ending quest to find all three of the magical stones of power just like Isobel and Lionel is once again haunting the halls of the Luthor castle. He had no idea how Lionel got out of prison but if he so much as stepped one foot out of line Clark was going to hit him so hard he would not know what happened until someone called an ambulance.

Lois and Chloe were the only two that were acting normal if one would call Lois normal. Clark liked Lois but the girl got on his damn nerves. She was always up in his business and he just wanted to smack the girl silly and send her on her merry little way. The girl was always bitching about something and getting herself into more trouble than Lana believe it or not. He really shouldn’t have thought that. Now something really bad was going to happen. He could just feel it.

Clark looked around to make sure that no one was looking and quickly typed the entire article without making one single mistake. It had to do with a new pet shop opening in town by a man named Count D.

Clark rolled his eyes at the name, “Count Dracula more like it.”

“What was that Clark,” Chloe asked walking in with some folders in her hands.

“Nothing,” Clark lied smoothly after years of practice and clicked print, “I got your article done.”

“Awesome,” she said while quickly dropping the folders on her desk, “Now all I have to do is type it.”

“Already done,” Clark said and handed her the printed copy.

Chloe smiled brightly and took it from him, “You’re amazing Clark.”

“I know,” he said while sitting back in his chair to relax, “And so modest to.”

Chloe snorted, “Have you seen Lana?”

“No,” he said not really wanting to talk about her right now but to make things not seem weird he asked, “Why?”

“Just wondering,” she said while placing the article in with the rest, “Jason was asking about her.”

“She’s not here,” Clark asked thinking back to trouble, “She was here during first period.”

“I guess her new pet has her occupied at the moment,” she said looking at him.

“New pet,” he asked thinking about the new pet shop, “She got a pet?”

“Yeah,” Chloe said pushing copy on the copier, “She got a cute little kitten.”

“A kitten,” Clark asked kind of confused. He thought Lana more of a snake person.

“Yeah,” Chloe said wondering what the hell was wrong with the damn contraption, “She said that this Count D is unnaturally beautiful and had her sign some contract when she bought the kitten.”

An eyebrow lifted, “A contract,” he asked sitting up, “What kind of contract?”

“Silly really,” Chloe told him while starting to smack the copier for being a pain in her lovely ass, “No food or water after midnight, burn some kind of incense daily, and play with him when you can.”

“Wow,” was all Clark could say.

“That’s not even the good part,” she said finally getting the damn thing to work, “If any of the terms listed are broken the pet shop cannot be held liable for any of the consequences.”

“Interesting,” Clark said getting to his feet to head to his next class, “Maybe I’ll check it out sometime.”

“You should,” Chloe said, “You could use a pet.”

He waved over his shoulder and quickly made his way down the hall to gym class. It was time to spend an hour and a half in hell with Coach Teague. He walked in just in time to hear Jason yell that it was a free period and then jumped in the pool.

Lana added some more of the sweet smelling incense to the burner that the Count provided her with. The man was beyond that which even the word beauty could describe. She turned around and bent down to pick Snowflake up. The kitten was a boy but she insisted on calling him Snowflake.

She carried him over to the bed and let him roll around with a big fluffy all of blue yarn. He was absolutely adorable and she looked over at the clock realizing she needed to get back to school before she was missed.

She kissed Snowflake on the head and told him to be a good boy. He sneezed in response and she rolled him over and tickled his tummy with the big ball of yarn.

Everyone else in gym class decided to play a big game of volleyball over in the next room. Clark decided that he was going to stay in the pool and relax. He was not allowed to get involved in such sports because of his big dark secret. It was not his fault that he could be better that everyone else in everything. Just because he was different did not mean that he should have to always be alone, but at this particular moment he wanted to be alone. Now he could just relax in the cool water without listening to Jason yell at him all the time.

That was when he suddenly got a face full of water and could hear Jason laughing at him. Clark turned around to glare at him with poisonous green eyes, “What was that for?”

“Why aren’t you over there playing volleyball with your friends,” Jason asked still laughing at him.

“They are not my friends,” Clark told him wishing that he would just go away.

“Really,” Jason asked floating a little closer than Clark liked, “Are you always such a loner Clark?”

“I have my friends,” Clark told him floating back a little.

“All girls,” Jason asked.

“I have Lex,” Clark told him and turned to swim off for Jason gently grabbed his shoulder to stop him.

“I didn’t mean to upset you Clark,” Jason said apologetically, “I’m here if you need to talk.”

“Why,” Clark asked with eyes narrowed in suspicion of an ulterior motive.

“I’m your teacher Clark,” he told him letting go of his shoulder, “It’s my job to be there for my students.”

“Thanks,” Clark said and began to swim off in time to see Lana walk in and say, “We need to talk Coach.”

Clark quickly changed back into his school clothes and made his way to the Torch office. Chloe would still be in class and he would get to have some time to himself before his fourth period. He took a seat at his desk and sat back to close his eyes and relax. For some odd reason people refused to allow him to have a moment to himself today.

He would go home after class and get all of his homework and chores done. There would be no doubt that Lois would be there to grate on his last nerve. He might try and see if Lex would tolerate his presence since there last spat about something he could not even remember because it was over something really stupid. He always liked to lay on the soft fur rug in front of the fireplace while Lex typed away on his newest laptop.

It was no telling how many laptops Lex went through but being the son of a billionaire and having your own millions he could afford the luxury. Clark leaned back and put his feet up on his desk which was even more comfortable.

He then began to wonder why Jason had spoken to him like that. He knew he didn’t have very many friends but he had close friends he could rely on in times of trouble. Everyone else was more acquaintances than anything else. It felt like Jason was observing him and Clark didn’t like that very much. He hated it when people looked at him closely because he was terrified they would see something that would send them screaming to the loony bin.

That sure did bring back some fond memories of him trying to get Lex out of Belle Reve because he had discovered Clark’s big dark secret. He would have succeeded to if it had not been for those damn meteor freaks always fucking things up. It was because of him Lex got his brain fried and almost wound up a vegetable for life. He remembered the look of concern on Lex’s face as the meteor freaks dragged him away from Lex. Lex had shouted after them, “Leave him alone!” It made Clark realize that Lex could handle his secret but like Pete it would put him in too much danger. So it was best that he just forgot.

Clark was brought out of his thoughts when he heard someone run in and close the door behind them. He opened his eyes to see Lana leaning against the door with tears in her eyes.

She looked up and saw Clark looking at her with concern and quickly rubbed her eyes, “Clark, I didn’t see you.”

“No one ever does,” he thought to himself and smiled warmly, “Are you okay?”

“I don’t know,” she said looking around the Torch in a daze, “I just broke up with Jason.”

“What,” Clark asked in shock, “Why?”

“Have you ever felt smothered Clark,” she asked walking over to sit in Chloe’s seat to face him.

Clark raised an eyebrow and Lana ran her hands through her long hair, “I just need space,” she said turning to look out the window, “To adjust to my situation without having someone constantly fussing over me.”

“He loves you Lana,” Clark said worrying if this was really Isobel and not Lana coming out to play. Maybe he should go and check to make sure Jason was not a floater right now.

“He doesn’t love me Clark,” she said looking back to smile sadly at him, “I know what people say about me behind my back.”

“What,” Clark asked trying to play confused and with years of practice she bought his perfect act. Cute, dumb, confused Clark always needing an explanation.

“I know they call me the snow queen,” she said looking very icy indeed, “Or the frigid bitch who is so cold she has her period in cubes.”

“Lana,” Clark said while trying his best not to snort at how true it was. He loved Lana a lot but she was one frozen Popsicle.

“I didn’t want people to find out that we were together,” she said, “He would lose his job and it would make me look like a whore.”

Clark just looked at her trying not to tally up the number of guys Lana had gone through, “How did Jason take it?”

“He dove under,” Lana said, “And swam away to climb out and go into the men’s locker room.”

“Wow,” Clark said, “And I thought only girls did stuff like that.”

“Nice Clark,” Lana said with a frown, “Being under the influence of the Nicodemus flower was not my fault.”

“I got in so much trouble with Principal Kwan,” he said laughing which made her smile, “Because of your little stunt.”

“I said I was sorry,” she said while throwing a pen at his head.

It bounced off his forehead and he quickly rubbed it to make it look like it hurt, “What was that for?”

“Getting out some aggression,” she said getting to her feet, “I’ll see you later?”

He nodded and she said, “Thanks for listening Clark.”

“What are friends for,” he told her and he watched her open the door and walk out.

He turned around in his chair and looked out the window to see that the sky was getting dark with storm clouds just as Chloe came walking in.

“Hey Clark,” she called with a smile, “What’s up Spaceman?”

Clark winced and turned to smile at her, “Storm clouds.”

“Really,” she asked and bounced over to look out the window, “Perfect weather for driving in.”

Clark rolled his eyes at her sarcasm and jumped to his feet when the bell rang for his next class to begin. He told Chloe that he would see her later and quickly dashed out of the room.

The bell began to ring and Clark picked up his backpack only to realize he must have left his cell phone in the Torch. He left the classroom and made his way down the hall just in time before Chloe locked up for the day.

He went inside and saw Chloe at her desk finishing up some stuff, “Forget something?”

“My cell phone,” he said looking over his desk to find no trace of it, “Not here.”

“When did you last have it,” she asked while shutting down her computer.

Clark thought back through his day and said, “See you later,” and ran out heading towards the pool.

He opened up the doors and walked inside to look around the spot on the bleachers where he had been at. Someone had probably stolen it when he remembered he had kept his backpack in the locker room. It probably fell out when he took his backpack out.

He jogged into the locker room to hear a shower running. Someone might have been too lazy to turn it off. He walked over to his locker and opened it up to find his cell laying there all safe and sound.

He slipped it into his backpack and made sure all the pockets were zipped up tight so nothing was going to fall out when he dashed home. A blast of thunder boomed overhead and he thought he heard a sniffle.

He walked around the lockers to where the showers were to see if someone was there. All he needed was another ghost running around causing mayhem. One of the lights overhead was busted but he made out the figure of someone huddled in the floor with their back to the wall crying.

Clark could not believe his eyes, “Jason?”

“Go away,” Jason rasped while pulling his legs in tighter to make himself look small if that was at all possible.

Clark looked closer to see that his skin was very pink from the hot water and asked, “How long have you been in there?”

Jason shrugged his broad shoulders and hid his face against his knees hoping that Clark would get the hint and leave.

“It’s storming,” Clark said not even bothering to ask what was wrong, “Lets get you out of there.”

Jason slowly lifted his head up to see that Clark was kneeling there looking at him with worry in his green eyes. Why did Clark look worried?

“Why do you care if lightning comes through and fries me,” he asked trying not to let the tear slip. Maybe Clark would just think it was from the water raining down on him in hot spurts.

Clark got to his feet, “I’ll go get you a towel.”

Jason watched him go and was dumbfounded. He knew that Clark would be the first person Lana would run to but he was not even bringing it up or asking what was wrong. He really was too nice for his own good.

He could care less about Lana dumping him. He was afraid of what his mother was going to do. She had told him to stick to that girl like glue and now she dumped him. Now he was having nothing to look forward to except for the doom his mother would surely rain down upon his head. She would no doubt blame his failure on the fact that he was homosexual.

Another tear fell as he remembered the many beatings his mother gave him whenever he failed at something. She never once laid hands on his face for he had to be beautiful at all times. Now he would probably get another beating. She might even kill him over losing a chance to get at the stones of power.

Clark walked back in and held the towel out to him. Jason reached out with a pink hand and took it after he turned the water off. He wrapped it around himself and moved to step out of the stall when the lights suddenly went out with a deafening blast of thunder overhead. His foot hit the rise in the stall floor and he felt himself fall into Clark and the both of them went to the ground in yelps.

The two of them just laid there in complete and utter darkness not daring to move for fear of touching something.

“Are you okay,” Clark asked not really sure of what to do with his arms that were around the shorter man.

“I’m good,” Jason said trying to keep the shock out of his voice from having Clark’s arms around him. This was bad. This was very bad.

Clark felt something hard against his stomach and was thankful that Jason could not see that his eyes were bugging out of his head. Was Jason hard? Why the fuck was Jason hard?

Jason was holding his breath and counting to a billion really fast when Clark slightly moved, and brushed his erection. Jason bit his tongue to keep from moaning at how nice that actually felt.

Clark was really confused. He suddenly realized that his arms were still around this man’s silky smooth back and quickly let him go. Jason went to move only to bump his head against Clark’s which resulted in him yelping in pain. That boy’s head was harder than a fucking brick.

“Are you okay,” Clark went to touch him only for him to feel a blind hand touch his groin. He jumped in slight panic and Jason apologized, “Oh my God I’m so sorry.”

Clark said that it was alright because it wasn’t his fault. It was too dark for either of them to see what the hell it was they were doing. He scooted back against a wall just as the lights came back on to see Jason on all fours with his eyes looking right at him in fear.

Jason felt as though he were having a heart attack. Was this the part where Clark was suppose to claw his way to his feet and run screaming from the room?

Clark ran his fingers through his mussed hair and got to his feet. Jason was waiting for the ass kicking only to look up and see Clark holding his hand out to help him to his feet. Was this some kind of mean trick? He had seen movies where guys act like everything is cool and then they attack when you least expect it.

He hesitantly took Clark’s hand and got to his feet, “Thanks.”

“Are you okay,” Clark asked in concern wondering if he might have actually hurt Jason in the fall.

“I’m fine,” Jason said still waiting for the blow, “Are you?”

“I’m good,” Clark said taking a few steps back wondering what the hell just happened, “I gotta go.”

Jason watched him grab his backpack and how he walked almost hurriedly from the room. He leaned back against the wall when he was sure Clark was gone and let out a small sigh of relief and then looked afraid as fear washed over him. Would Clark be vindictive and find a way to use this against him? His mother was going to fucking kill him. He felt like crawling back into the shower and cry all over again.

99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

Clark was running through the storm not really knowing where his super fast legs were taking him until he looked up to see that he was standing in front of the large wooden door of Lex’s castle. He looked around and wondered why in the hell had he come here and decided to see if Lex would tolerate his company.

He silently opened the door and sure enough it was unlocked and he quickly stepped inside. He looked around and noticed how quite it was as he closed the door behind him. He made his way down the long hall and he could hear Lex in his study typing away as he got closer.

He stood outside the study wondering if he should just leave and not even bother him. He took a deep breath and walked in for Lex to look up at him with narrowed eyes as if he expected some kind of verbal attack, “Clark?”

Clark just stood there looking at him as water dripped down his frame to collect in a small puddle at his feet. Maybe he was in some kind of shock from what happened in the locker room. He didn’t really know. He could always blame what he was going to do on shock.

Lex looked him over and decided to say, “You’re wet.”

Clark took of his backpack and jacket and let them fall to the floor with a splat. Lex watched him without betraying a single emotion as Clark stepped out of his well worn sneakers and jeans. He watched Clark walk over and lay down on his rug curling up in front of the fire.

What in the fuck happened? Did he lose his memory again? Has Lana gone all crazy again and put a spell on him? He didn’t know what the fuck to think. Clark Kent was a fucking puzzle with so many hidden pieces but this was bizarre even for him.

Lex shook his head and closed the lid to his laptop. He walked around his desk and over to where Clark was laying and knelt down to find that he was fast asleep. He loved the way the firelight was dancing on his wet skin that his shirt and boxers were not covering up. The droplets of water began to evaporate off that sun kissed skin and Lex felt himself wanting to touch him.

Lex just knelt there thinking of how back in the day Clark would just pop in and just curl up right here while he worked at his desk. He reached out with a pale hand and ran it through Clark’s dark locks feeling how soft they were when wet.

He tilted his head to the side and a rare smile graced his cold face that met his icy blue eyes as he gazed upon Clark affectionately. He tore his gaze away to look over at Clark’s wet jeans and decided he had better dry them for his farmboy.

His? When in the hell had Clark become his? Oh! That’s right. The day Clark breathed life back into him. He remembered opening his eyes to see scared green ones looking back at him as relief flooded those emerald pools.

Lex smiled again as he picked up the wet jeans and carried them out. He also noticed was the only person who could get through is mental shields with ease. He had smiled twice today and that was only because of Clark.

He handed the jeans to Stephen and told him to have them ready when Clark decided to leave. Stephen took them and Lex went back to his study to find Clark in the same position he had left him. He wondered if he should call the Kent’s and tell them their son was here lying in front of his fire.

An image of a pissed of Mr. Kent came to his mind carrying in a shotgun and he quickly changed his mind. Maybe he could call Chloe and have her call the Kent’s and say that Clark is with her so they don’t get worried about him.

“I’m wonderful,” Lex said as he picked up his cell to call her, “And so modest to.”

9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

“Hello,” Chloe said as she pulled into a parking lot near the Talon, “Lex?”

After a few minutes of explaining what was going on she snorted, “You’re kidding?”

“No,” Lex said trying to keep his voice down so he didn’t wake Clark up, “He’s asleep.”

“Wow,” Chloe said, “Just when you think you have him figured out.”

“He does a complete 180,” Lex finished for her, “So you will call the Kent’s and lie for me?”

“Ok Lex,” she said with an evil grin that he knew was there, “But you owe me.”

“Name it,” he said wondering if he was going to regret this.

“I’ll get back to you,” and she flipped the phone shut to call the Kent’s.

99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

Count D was sipping his early evening tea when he heard a soft jingle come from the front of the shop. He smiled darkly to himself as he made his way from his chambers into the parlor where a pretty blonde was looking around in some interest at the décor.

He bowed before her and asked in a sultry highly cultured tone, “How may I help me miss?”

“Wow,” Chloe thought keeping her features blank, “Lana was not kidding. This guy really is beautiful.”

“You’re Count D,” she asked while looking him over.

“I am,” he said and she caught his beautiful mismatched eyes. One was golden and the other was amethyst. They had to be contacts.

“Are you looking for something in particular,” he asked with a lovely smile hoping he could sell her something that would wind up smashing her to pulp.

“Yes,” she said with her best reporter smile, “I’m looking to interview you for my school newspaper.”

Count D almost exploded with joyous rapture. This silly little twit wanted to interview him for her school newspaper. This was most welcomed. With students reading about how wonderful and exotic his pet shop was the more pets he would sell.

His gorgeous purple lips formed a perfect smile, “When would you like to begin?”

She pulled out her voice recorder and held it up to his face, “Right now.”
