2. The Mantal is Passed

CHAPTER 2

The white sandy beach reflected the sun, making this beach one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Dinah absolutely loved this tropical Island that she and her mother moved onto. For the past year and a half, they have lived there, getting to know each other once again. Dinah had no regrets about leaving New Gotham to spend time with her mother. These months have meant a great deal for her.

While the mother had stepped away for a second, Dinah was sun bathing on the beach, lying on her stomach on a beach blanket. Her bikini top was to her right; allow the sun to get her entire back, so not to have a white strip across her back. It was so relaxing, she could have fallen asleep.

“Don’t expose your back to much more, Dinah. You are going to get burned!”

Dinah never opened her eyes as she replied. “I’ll be okay, Mother.”

Carolyn shrugged as she sat down next to her daughter. She had come back from a nice dip in the crystal clear ocean water. “Have I told you yet that you look so cute with your hair cut so short?”

Just the other day, Dinah had her hair done. She now had very short dirty-blonde hair that did not even cover her neck. Her hair was also now curly making her look like a whole new woman. “Cute was not what I was going for, Mom,” Dinah replied.

“Still, with this hair cut, you’re a splitting image of me when I was your age and just starting out in my superhero days.”

Dinah opened her eyes and looked up to her mother without lifting her head. “Are you still hinting that you want me to be back to being a hero?”

“I suppose I am,” Carolyn replied. There was no point trying to hide the truth from a daughter who has recently learn to control the power of reading minds. “You are eighteen years old now. You are now ‘officially’ a young woman. You don’t need your mommy by your side anymore. You need to find a life for yourself. You need to spread your wings.”

Dinah lifted her head off the beach towel. “All my life, I grew up without knowing anything about my real mother and father. This past year and half have been the happiest in my months in my life getting to know you against. Since we moved here though, you seem to want to get rid of me. You’ve made me continue practicing my fighting skills. Why? Do you want to get rid of me?”

“Of course not, Dinah. This past year, I loved getting to know my only child. Tell me the truth, Dinah. Don’t you miss being a superhero just a tad?”

Dinah sighed. It was true. She missed Barbara and Helena. She loved working side-by-side with Helena fighting crime. Dinah used her arms to push herself up off the blanket unto her knees. Leaning to her right, she spun around until she was sitting upright. “I suppose I do.” She sat there remembering the times that she had with Helena.

She suddenly noticed a few people staring at her with wide eyes. She looked down and remember that her breasts were revealed to the world. A year and a half ago, there were so small, she thought she would never have a pair of breasts to be proud of. Now here she was, she had a full figure and a lovely pair of breasts that man went google eyed over.

She reached over and grabbed her bikini top and slipped it on. “It doesn’t really matter anyway. Barbara and Richard are married by now and Helena and Reese are living together and probably engaged by now. Helena left the hero business as well not to mention that the clock tower was completely destroyed when we left it. There’s nothing more for me to go back to.” Dinah snapped the bikini top in place and she snugged in her boobs into the cups.

“One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the world is always in need of heroes. If not in New Gotham, then somewhere else.”

“I’ll think about it, mother. Right now, I’m ready to head back.”

Dinah opened the door to their apartment and the tow women walked in only to find themselves in shock. The whole house had been ransacked. The furniture had been ripped and it’s innards pulled out. The television had been destroyed and papers, silverware, and other miscellaneous stuff as scatted all over the place.

“What in the name of God?” Carolyn said in utter disbelief.

“Who could have done this? Who would have done this? Who would have done this?” Dinah uttered, slowly walking deeper into the their apartment.

“I’ll go get the mop!” Carolyn said cautiously walking through the mess towards the kitchen. The tone in her voice clearly said that she was agitated and at the same time was preoccupied thinking on who on the island would do something like this.

Dinah slowly headed for her bedroom. Her door was ripped from it’s hinges. Marks on the door told Dinah that someone had kicked the door in. Breathing heavily, and preparing for an attacker, she entered her room. Inside, her mattress was thrown off the spring board and ripped into by a knife or something of that sort. Her clothing, including her bras, underwear, and bikini’s None of that compared to what she saw written on the mirror. “Mom, come quickly!”

Dinah heard the crunching of items outside her room. Her mother muttered a few swear words as she finally made it into Dinah’s room. There on Dinah’s mirror, written in lip stick were the words, ‘Gotham will fall!’ Underneath the words were pictures of Helena Kyle and Barbara Gordon both with red X’s crossing their faces out.

Dinah knew what had to be done. “We have to go back to New Gotham!”

Carolyn turned to her daughter. “You need to go back to New Gotham.”

“No, Mom. I’m not going without you. We can work together,” Dinah pleaded.

“No, no, no, no,” Carolyn shook her head. “My days as the Black Canary are over. I am retired permanently. You, your life has just begun. Go, live out your dream.”

“I will not go back without you, Mother! A year and a half is not enough time to catch up on eighteen years,” Dinah rejected.

Carolyn sighed as she looked down at her feet. She was going to have to tell her. She should have had this talk with her since the beginning. “Dinah, there is something I should have told you before we ever moved onto this tropical island. The main reason, I wanted to move here is because of my health.’

“You’re health?” Dinah had not been ready for a comment like that. It was too sudden and out of nowhere. “What do you mean? You’re not dying, are you?”

Carolyn struggled to phrase it in a way she could understand. She barley understood her condition herself. “Not in the way you are thinking. My meta powers, although a gift, has apparently also been a curse. I have discovered that the many years of using my powers in the toxic air of New Gotham, has caused me to contract a disease. Those toxic chemicals in the atmosphere of New Gotham have done a number on my lungs. I can no longer stay in New Gotham for extended periods without shortening my lifespan. I needed to move to a location where the air is as purse as you can find on this planet. You must go alone.”

“I won’t go then. I’ll stay here with you then,” Dinah responded in protest.

“Dinah,” Carolyn’s voice made it clear that she was putting her foot down. “You are eighteen now. You are fully trained and ready to leave the nest. You must go to Barbara and Helena and help them face whoever is behind all of this.”

Dinah was reluctant. Of all these years of not having a mother, and then finding her so recently, now she had to give that all up. “Okay, I will go.”

Carolyn smiled as she placed her right hand on her shoulder. I have something for you. Come with me.”

Dinah followed her mother, walking cautiously over the mess on the floor into her mothers room. Her room also was completely torn apart. Carolyn led her to her closet. All of her clothes were ripped out of the closet as well, but she didn’t seem to care. She reached in and opened a secret compartment. She slid the compartment open and pulled out a black suit and leather trench coat.

Instantly recognizing it, Dinah was near dumbfounded. “Mom, that is your Black Canary costume! I can’t take that!”

“My time as the Black Canary is over, but that does not mean it’s the end of the Black Canary. She will once again walk the streets of New Gotham. I am passing my mantle unto you. You are ready to become the new Black Canary.”

“I don’t know what to say!” Dinah held it in her hands as if she was holding a sacred idol. She could not believe that her mother was giving her something this precious.

“Don’t say anything. Go put it on!”

Dinah stood there in her mother’s bathroom undressed. She stood in front of the standing mirror, looking at her nude reflection. Her breasts were perky, her bald pussy. She imagined herself into the suit that she was about to be put on. Standing sidways, she looked at her reflection for a second before turning around again and looking at her rear. Her small ass with a crack. She rubbed her ass for a few seconds. She returned facing the mirror directly and she rubbed her breasts. This dress would show her cleavage and her beautifully round breasts.

She looked onto the counter where her new costume laid there waiting. She picked it up and began to dress herself. When dressed, she was in awe. Indeed, she was the perfect spitting image of her mother long ago. Her cleavage was shown in the black shirt which left her shoulders and the crack of her two breasts exposed. She put on the trench coat and boots and her costume was complete.

Dinah walked out of her mother’s bathroom in the Black Canary costumn. Carolyn smiled as Dinah spun around for her. “What do you think ?”

“Perfect!”
