Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Grissom stood taking in the scene. He remembered a while ago talking to Nick and telling him there were certain cases that got ot him. He could tell this was going to be one of them.
'I would rather be at the airport picking up Sara and Greg.' Immediately he chastised himself for having errants thoughts while on a case. 'Concentrate Gil!' he could see his mother signing to him. Getting to the task at hand, he grabbed his kit and trugged on.
20 minutes later
Standing next to the body with camera in hand he began taking pictures and making notes in his head. Sara and Greg hadn't arrived yet and evidence was always time sensitive, Vegas or not.
'the body has multiple lacerations, cuts and abrasions all over .Grissom began to get choked up . . both hands and feet have suffered puncture wounds.'
"God who would do this?" Grissom almost felt guilty for mentioning His name.
He heard some commotion behind him and found that the sight of Sara and Greg was a sight for sore eyes. He nver really thought about how much he missed her but seeing her now brought back all the times he had thought about her while he was gone.
Seeing his smile as she walked up was comforting, more than she should allow herself.
"Hey Grissom. We are at your service." Greg called out as they reached him.
"Ok. Thanks. I need you with me to take pictures of what I didn't get. Sara I need you to talk with Donna and see what you can gather from the body. Ok?"
"Sure." 'first words she said to me all month.' Grissom sighed and walked back toward the body to let Greg know what he wanted. Greg picked up Sara's kit and handed it to her.
"Thanks Greggo." She smiled and walked off to talk to Donna, who apparently was already familiar with the body, scene and Grissom. She looked tired and Sara felt for her, Sara was tired too.
"Sara Sidle, I presume." Donna held out her hand. "Donna Collins, Hampton PD. Wish we could have met on better terms. Dr. Grissom speaks highly of you." 'He speaks of me?' Sara thought that was awful odd.
"Same here. What can you tell me about our Vic?"
"No id yet but guessing, the cause of death could be any number of things."
"Thanks.I think I am gonna get more aquainted with our Vic." Donna only nodded and walked away. Sara looked over the body and a large feeling or remorse washed over her. She stood only for a moment before motioning the coronor. It was fifteen mintues before they could actually get the body down with out taking off of what seemed to be a make shift cross. She apparently suffered the wounds of Christ.
"Be gentle with her please?" Sara pleaded. Grissom heard her request and turned from what he was looking at with Greg and watched the expression on her face changed from pained to angry in the span of three seconds after hearing the coroner belittle the young girl.
"Its only a corpse." Sara immediately stepped up to him and stared him down.
"She has suffered a great deal! The least you can do is show some respect for the dead!" Grissom approached and pulled her aside with little effort. He spoke softly incase anyone was listening. He was not one to repremand in front of others.
"Calm down ok? Don't make me regret bringing you out here."
"But he was out of line!" She spat out through gritted teeth. She had to remember not to direct her anger at Grissom.
"I know that." to say she was surprised would have been an understatement. "But you need to calm down ok?" She conceded and walked back over to the body trying to find something, anything that would help her find this killer.
She stepped away when she was done and watched as the coroners took the body back to the lab. Grissom came and stood beside her. She turned to face him and he could tell that she had been crying.
"Thought this only happened in Vegas. I . . I guess I was wrong." Her body shook with sobs and Grissom pulled her into a hug. He knew all along that this would happen, but truth be told, she was one of his best CSI's and he missed her. He pulled away and looked her in the eyes.
"You ok?"
"Yeah. Sorry I freaked on you again."
"Yeah but it is exactly your kind of passion that I need for this."
