Finding Out
" You hate me?" Lucky asked. " What in the hell did I do?"
" ME!" I yelled. " Me." I said again quieter. " And now I'm paying for it."
" How do I even know--" I hung up.
" I want to go home." I said.
" What's wrong?" My dad asked.
" I just want to go home!" I said, a little louder.
" Baby girl, you have to tell me what's going on?" He said.
" I just want to go home." I said, fighting the tears that wanted to fall.
" Ella..." He said
" Daddy please." I said quietly. He didn't say anything, so I ran in my room and locked the door. " It's ok." I whispered. " It's ok, baby, Momma's always going to be here for you." I laid my hand on my stomach. " Momma will always be here."
" Ella? Baby girl?" I heard my dad outside the door. He sounded worried. I knew he hadn't me...I was whispering. " Ella?" I went and opened the door.
" Can I please just go home?" I asked.
" Baby girl...please tell me what's going on?" He said.
" I want to go home." I said. He nodded.
" Ok." He said. I got my stuff and pushed past him. He took me back to my mom's.
" Momma he's getting married." I said, crying.
" Sonny how could you tell her that?" Mom asked.
" I didn't know they had something..." He drifted off.
" Ella, are you ok?" Miguel asked.
" Get the hell away from my daughter." My dad said.
" Sonny don't add anymore stress to her." Miguel said. " She's been through enough."
" Don't tell me how to raise my daughter." Dad said.
" Both of you please stop." Mom said.
" Momma he said--he doesn't believe--he said--" I couldn't get it out. I ran to the bathroom, I was getting sick again.
" Ella!" Mom said, following me. When I shut the door and locked it, she stood outside. My dad followed too.
" What is going on?" My dad asked. " I don't want to hear nothing, I want to know what is wrong with my daughter."
" Sonny it's not my place." She said. " But I don't want her going back to Port Charles."
" Her family is there Lily." He said.
" Bring them here. Carly, Michael, Morgan, especially Morgan...Mike... Courtney, Jason." She said. " Bring them here." She paused. " She's not going back to Port Charles."
" Lily, you can't just pull her away from her family." My dad said.
" But I can pull her away from someone she doesn't need to be around." She said.
" Lucky?" He asked. She didn't say anything. " What did he do to her Lily?" I heard that question coming out of the bathroom.
" He told me he loved me, then I--" I ran back into the bathroom.
" Lily do you think she should see a doctor?" Miguel asked.
" It's normal, especially when she's stressed." Mom said.
" Her vomiting is not normal. Lily she needs to see a doctor." Dad said.
" She's ok." Mom said. " She will be ok." I walked back out and leaned against the wall.
" Momma...I...I can't do this." I said.
" It's ok baby girl. It's not going to last forever." She smiled, running her hand over my hair.
" What is going on with my daughter?" Dad asked.
" Isn't it obvious Sonny?" Mom asked, a little annoyed.
" Isn't what--what obvious?" He asked. " What's--"
" Daddy I'm pregnant." I said, quietly, still leaning on the wall.
" You're what?" He asked. " How could this have happened?" He looked at my mother. " How could you let this happen?"
" She was in New York Sonny." She said.
" There's no way. There was a--" He started. I cut him off.
" Daddy I'm not stupid. I slipped away from all of the guards." I said.
" Is it--was--" I cut him off again.
" Lucky." Miguel said.
" It's not his fault Daddy." I said. " Both of us were involved." I paused and looked at my mother. " And I'm not sorry."
" You've been here too long." He said. " Girls here get pregnant at 15 and start an adult life. Gabriella you are still a little girl. How could you be so irresponsible?"
" I was in love." I said. " I thought we'd be together forever."
" Sonny..." Mom started. " She's not a little girl. She'll be 18...and if u haven't forgotten I had--" He cut her off.
" Lily...that's different." He said.
" Sonny you're not going to make her feel bad about this." Mom said. " She wants this baby."
" How does she know what she wants?" He asked. " Ella I want you to pack your stuff, you're going back to New York with me, where I can keep an eye on you."
" You're not taking my daughter." Mom said. Juan walked in.
" Juan." I said, relieved.
" Ella what's wrong?" He asked.
" Get me out of here." I said. " Please."
" Ok." He said, a little worried sounding. " Momma we'll be back." She just nodded.
" Ella." Dad said.
" No." I said. I left with Juan.
" You ok?" He asked.
" Yeah." I said. " I just can't deal with him blaming everything on Momma. It's not her fault. I slept with Lucky...and I'm not sorry. Juan I love this baby so much."
" I know." He said. " Momma won't let him bad mouth her."
" I know." I said. " But I can't believe he would even blame her."
" Ella...don't worry. You just concern yourself with you and that baby." He said. We went back to the house about 2 hours later.
" Mom I need to go to Port Charles." I told her. I'd been doing a lot of thinking while with Juan.
" For what?" She asked.
" I want Lucky to sign away his parental rights." I said. " I don't want him anywhere near my baby. He doesn't think it's his or that I'm even pregnant. Well fine...it doesn't have to be his. It's just mine."
" I'll go with you." She said. " You get the papers, and get them signed, then we come home."
" Ok." I said. So we flew to New York when my Dad went back about two weeks later. He'd eased up a little bit. I went straight to Lucky's. I'd already gotten the papers. He and Elizabeth were living together. I took a deep breath. I was nervous. " Don't get attached baby." I whispered. I knocked on the door. Elizabeth openned the door. " Where's Lucky?"
" Lucky?" Elizabeth said. He came up behind her. I shoved the papers at him.
" Sign them." I said.
" What is this?" He asked.
" I want you to sign away your parental rights. I want nothing to do with you, and I don't want you to have anything to do with my baby." I said. I made sure I wore something that actually showed that I was pregnant. " You're the only person I've ever slept with, and it's yours. Sign the papers so I can go home, and live my life."
" You're--" I cut Elizabeth off.
" Yeah. Isn't it great?" I said. " Sign the papers Lucky. Please. I'd like to go home."
" Ella." Lucky said.
" I know, I know. You didn't think I was pregnant. Well surprise, surprise. Whether you sign those papers or not, I won't let you--" He cut me off.
" Liz, can you give us a minute?" Lucky asked.
" Sure." She said. I stood there. She went into the back. Lucky came up close to me.
" Please just sign the papers." I said.
" If that baby is mine, I'm not giving it up." Lucky said.
" After you swore that I wasn't pregnant and that it wouldn't be your's?" I said, loudly. " Hell no. You are never going to see this baby."
