Tears and Stilleto's

Chapter 2 (2 weeks later)

Hannah sat in the break room fiddling around with her guitar when a song came to mind and she began to play. The first notes of Crazy on you by Heart came out, It was one of her favorite songs to play. She failed to notice Greg standing at the doorway watching her play.
"Your not bad." she looked up suddenly and immediately regretted the move.
"I really wish people wouldn't do that. Be sneaky and all."
"Boo." Greg said in a flat voice. Hannah smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Very funny, look I wanted to talk to you. I want to apologize about they way I acted when we first met." she tried to sound apologetic. She needed his forgiveness, why she didn't know, but it bugged her when they fought.
"No that was totally my doing. I'm sorry." Greg put on a puppy face and batted his eyes at Hannah until she gave up trying not to smile. "Well I was gonna go on break and see if anyone wanted to join me and you were the first one who popped in my head. You wanna come?"
"Sorry. I have samples on. Rain check?" Greg nodded and smiled before he left the room. Hannah put her guitar back in the case and headed to the locker room to put it back in her locker.
"Hey gurl. I didn't know you could play?" Hannah heard Nicks voice coming from the other end of the bench. He was stting with Warrick.
"A little. Don't you guys ever work?" She asked teasingly. Warrick laughed and patted her on the shoulder as he and Nick smiled and walked out of the room. Hannah soon followed suit and went back to her lab to finish up those samples for Grissom. She looked through her selection and couldn't think of anything to listen to except for one song. She put on Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'. She began to move things around and finish out her task without thought. When she finished she sat there listening to the song and its words.
There was a time ago when she would only listen to this song if she felt lonely and was missing Grissom. He like this group and always said this was a pretty song. Well back then whatever he liked, she liked too. Hearing the song brought back some old emotions and she found herself silently crying. Tears escaping her eyes without permission. She hated crying. Hodges walked by and thought better to go in there. Last time he did, she chewed him out. He walked to where Grissom was standing and called out to him.
"Yes?"
"Your DNA Tech is sitting in her lab crying. She might be contaminating evidence. I would stop her but she hates me."
"And with good reason too." Grissom said as he walked away. He had to see why Hanna was crying. Upon nearing the lab he heard a familiar song playing and it hit him why she was crying. He stood in the doorway and watched her for a moment till she began drying her eyes.
"Were you going to stand there and watch me make a fool of myself or do you need something?" Her tone was bitter.
"I wanted to know if my samples were done." she picked them up and handed to him without a word and went back to porcessing Sara's hairs that she had found on her vic. "Is everything ok Hannah?"
"Yes." She answered tersly.
"Doesn't seem like it."
"Grissom, I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, ok?" He nodded and walked away. Soon as he walked out of the lab he heard the song change over to another one. Run Like Hell By Pink Floyd. He knew she wasn't being truthful, she definitely was in a bad mood. She rose from her chair in obvious irritation.
"Does anyone know how to close a door around here ?" Hannah yelled to Grissom and shut the door. She returned to her samples just as Sara returned to check in with. Sara noticed the door was closed and thought it best to knock. She didnt want to startle Hannah.
"Come in." Answered a gruff voice from inside.
"Hey."
"Your samples are almost done. Just a few more minutes."
"Everything ok Hannah?"
"No, but I'll be fine." Hannah didnt want to be dishonest with Sara. She trusted her. The machine beeped and spat out the results Hannah grabbed it and handded it to Sara without even looking at her. Sara already knew what the results were going to say. The killer had confessed and this just went along to prove it.
"Why don't we take a break and go get something to drink from the breakroom." Sara waited for Hannah to turn around. When she did she saw such a rage in her eyes it almost scared her. Hannah shrugged off her lab coat and held the door open for Sara to walk out of.
Sitting in the breakroom Hannah sipped her apple cider while Sara drank her third cup of coffee.
"I was never much of a coffe person. I love the smell but can't drink it."
"Yeah." Sara paused not knowing how to broach the subject. Hannah beat her to it.
"Bug and I have history. It's not what many think. He was like a father to me. My own father was a prick and did nothing good for me or my family. Bug did. He loved me and helped my mother when she needed it.My Father didn't like him. Told Bug to leave because he was sure that our friendship was not what it seemed. He accused Bug of trying to get into a little girls pants and told him that he was a sick man. I haven't seen or heard from Bug since until I got here. He left me without anyone to lean onto. Not one word. Not 'I'm sorry', 'Fuck you, nothing." Hannah was crying by now but they were silent tears.
"You know what, I can feel you. I have had my share of Grissom trouble believe me. We still get at each other now and then but you know what, lets forget about Grissom and just go out today and have a girls day. Just the two of us. I know Cath would love to but she has to get Lindsey from school and do the mom thing you know?" Sara offered. She wanted to get Hannah's mind off Grissom for a while and help her relax.
"Only thing is, you're better at being a girl then I, so you might have to make some suggestions about what we should do." Hannah smiled at this and checked her watch.
"If you're done with that case, I know a great place we can eat." Sara dumped her coffee and pointed towards the door.
"Meet you at your car in ten?" Hannah nodded and greeted the dayshift DNA tech as she left the break room.
"All samples are up to date and all my mess is cleaned up."
"Thanks Malone." The tech smiled and went straight into the lab.
The day was great and for the first time in a long while Sara could say she had fun hanging out with someone of the same sex. They had breakfast at a diner not far from the strip and then spent most of the afternoon shopping in music stores and book shops. Sara had come out with a few books on entomology and Hannah had the newest from her favorite writer Frank Peretti.
Sara didnt know what possessed her to be out to a club at this time in the morning but Hannah did such a good job of convincing her to come with her. She was standing at the bar thinking of the last time she had a drink. She was proud that it had never come to that point after Grissom had taken her home. Something caught her eye and she looked over to see Hannah running towards her frantically.
"Hannah, whats wrong?" Sara shouted.
"Sara, I have to go, I gotta leave. Please don't make me stay." Sara could see hannah had a bruised cheek and bruises around her wrists. Sara knew something went worng in the office of the club and began to usher Hannah out of the club while at the same time keeping an eye out for the owner who only wanted to "talk".
"Come on." Sra forced through her clinched teeth.
As soon as they reached Hannah's truck hannah climbed in and reached in the back seat, and pulled out her bag. she pulled out the extra clothes and began changing.
"What are you doing?" Sara sked momentarily lost in the moment. Hannah kept changing as she spoke carefully putting the clothes into the bag she just emptied.
"Please do not tell Bug about this, Ok? I dont want him to know. That guy in there. . ." she paused tears about to spill over. "That guy in there raped me." She said it slowly, like she was trying to convince herslef of all that was happening. " I am gonna get this asshole for doing this to me." It didnt take long for the anger to set in.
"I have to tell him Hannah." Sara said softly knowing Hannah would understand who she was speaking of. Immediately the pleading look came back into Hannah's eyes.
"NO! Sara please I dont want him to know, ok He will go balistic. He can't know about this. I have to talk to Ecklie. I have to make him do it. I want to nail this fucker!" she pulled on the coveralls and headed toward the lab. When she arrived Sara was still in the car with her.
"How are you going to explain wearing this?"
"What? I like coveralls." Hannah replied honestly earning a laugh from Sara.
"Eventually he will know." Hannah knew who she was referring to.
"I know and I will tell him just not now." Hannah jumped out of the truck with the bag in hand searching for Ecklie. As she moved through the parking lot, she searched for Grissom's car. She was thanking God when she didn't see it anywhere. She quickly ran in smiling at Judy when she walked by. Luckily she didn't have to run far.
"Ecklie, I have a case for you."
"Oh really?" He said unbelieving. This was Grissom's DNA tech. Just as bad as Sanders was.
"Yeah, I need you to do this for me. Grissom is busy. Come with me and we will talk." She led him into the breakroom knowing everyone left and they could talk.
As soon As Ecklie accepted the offer and she finished filling him in on everything handed him the evidence(it sounded so weird to her, her clothes, evidence). He tried to get one of his dayshift techs to do the SAE kit but she refused saying she would only allow Sara. She trusted Sara with anything. As soon as they had let it her she noticed it was time for Grissom to come in. She knew he would come in early. She got in her truck and drove home to take a hot shower and wash the grime off of her. She sat in her living room drinking hot apple cider and thinking of how she was going to get along hiding this from Grissom. She shuddered at thought of what he would do to her if he found out. She knew all about Grissom's temper when it came to certain things or cases. She didn't want to be on the recieving end of it. The door bell rang and she didn't waste anytime getting up to answer it.
"Hannah Carrie Malone! Why havent you called me? I have been sitting around waiting for you to call and you don't. I could have been dying and you wouldn't even know it." Hannah rolled her eyes.
"Hello mother. You want to come in ?"
"Yes. What are you wearing ? You can't wear that out to dinner."
"I'm not really hungry Mother."
"Sweetie, just go get ready and we'll leave ok?" Hannah was honestly to tired to argue with her mother.
"Tell you what Ma, if you leave me alone, I'll go to lunch with you and I'll even wear something nice. Let me meet you there."
"Nonscense. I want to see where you work and meet all your nice friends." Hannah only rolled her eyes and walked into her room to get changed. She reminded hersellf to lock the door because her mother never believed in closed doors.
Walking into the lab an hour later mumbling about her mother she nearly missed the looks that just about every man was giving her including Grissom. He saw her walk by his office grumbling about something. He decided to pick up and follow to see where she was going.
Hannah reached the lab but with her luck Greg was in today. Greg looked up and saw a gorgeous woman digging around for something and he coughed to get her attention.
"Greg have you seen my Cd case? I left it in here yesterday."
"You mean this one?" He playfully asked as he held it up for her to see when she turned around. She went to grab it but he pulled it from her reach.
"Greg? Please? My Mother is waiting." Greg complied knowing how doting mothers could be. He watched her for a moment before hading over the heavy case. She was dressed to the nines. Black corset with a red ankle length coat and matching mini skirt, standing tapping her red stilletto heels on the tile floor.
"Hannah, You look . .Amazing!" Hannah blushed at the comment from Greg. She found herself liking the fact that he paid attention to her.
"Thanks. I gotta go. I will see you later, ok ?" She said timidly. She was becoming like a teenager again. Drooling over the school hottie. She rushed out of the lab and bumped into Grissom on the way out.
"Your not going out like that are you ?" He asked.
"Why? Whats wrong with it?" She asked confused.
"Honey, that barely covers you. You cant go out like that." Hannah tilted her head at Grissom and then straightened up.
"I dont have time for this, mother is waiting." She tried to push past him but he wouldn't bugde.
"Your Mother is here?" he asked not believing.
"I am Gilbert." Her heard Annette speak from behind him. He turned to find her standing with the most soft smile. Almost a reminising smile.
"Annette." he had a nack for just saying people's name's in times that he couldnt say anything else, epecially Sara. "You look good. How have you been?"
"Missing you Gilbert. Life has treated you good I see?" He nodded. He half expected for old feeling to rise up once again and then have her lure him in for another round of making love. He was about to repsond when Hannah interupted them.
"Mother, you will have plenty of time later to catch up with Grissom. We need to leave if you want to make it on time."
"Where will you be going?" Grissom quickly questioned Hannah.
"If you must know, we are going to the italian on 43rd and Vine, Dad." Her mother visibly flinched when she heard her daughter call Gil 'dad'.
"Darling, we must leave now. Gilbert, some other time then. " and that quickly she was gone leaving Grissom standing in the hallway dumbstruck. Sara snuck up behind and quietly stood for a moment.
"It was her wasnt it?" Grissom didn't even have to ask what she was asking about.
"Yes."
"Do you still love her?"
"No." Sara smiled a small smile and then rested her hand on his shoulder.
"You gonna be ok?"
"As long as I have you." Sara's smile got bigger and she couldn't help but blush as he turned to her and smiled.

5 months later

Giggling could be heard coming from the break room. Catherine could have sworn it was Hannah but she had never heard Hannah laugh so long and loud. Upon entering the doorway she saw Hannah and Greg sitting together arguing and laughing like brother and sister .
"What are you looking at?" Greg asked Hannah exasperated. Hannah shook her head while smiling.
"Nothing. I keep telling you that, so stop asking and finish your lunch." She turned back to her mag that she was reading then looked up at the imaginary spot on the wall that she was trying to make Greg crazy over.
"You did it again! What on earth are you looking at?!"
"I did nothing of the sort." She replied. Catherine laughed slightly, just enjoying the scene. Sara came up behind her and was about to ask her a question when Greg yelled.
"Did too."
"Did not."
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"You so did and you know it." He plucked a french fry at her and she swatted it away while laughing.
"No abusing food Sanders." Then under her breath mumbled a small "Did not." He smiled and kept eating until he realized what they had playing on the radio sitting next to them.
"I can't believe you actually like this guy!"
"Ugh, he is good and you know it. Plus he is a hottie. Bonus!" Sara smiled knowing Hannah had been around her enough to pick up her favorite word.
"Is he cuter than me?" Greg cautiously asked. Sara picked up on the hidden meaning in the question just as Catherine did. Catherine's hand landed on Sara's arm as they waited for Hannah's answer.
"So not cuter than you, Suga." Hannah turned serious for only a moment then went back to eating hoping that Greg couldn't see the heat rising in her cheeks. Of course luck was not on her side and he noticed but said nothing, only smiled and went back to eating. Catherine pulled Sara aside and smiled.
"No Catherine. Leave them alone. They will work it out." The coniving smile that adorned Catherine's face did nothing to relieve Sara's fears.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"I dont know man, she looked really pissed off. Why did you even go there?" Warrick asked Hodges knowing he wouldn't recieve a striaght answer.
"I can never tell what kind of mood that girl is going to be in." both men heard a disapproving grunt from the other side of the break room, more specifically the couch. Greg sat up and looked hodges straight in the eyes.
"What kinda music was she playing?"
"Huh?" Warrick and Hodges answered.
"What was playing on her stereo?" Greg repeated himself.
"I dont know." Greg motioned for hodges to follow him as he walked out of the breakroom headed towards Hannah's lab. Warrick followed knowing Greg must have had a point to this small exercise. Greg knocked on the door and walked in waiting for Hannah to acknowledge him.
"Yes Greg?" He was glad she finally started using his given name instead of his last.
"I was wondering if I could ask you a question."
"Shoot." She said still concentrating on the DNA extraction she was doing for Sara.
"What are you listening to in your stereo?"
"Stained, why?"
"Just rying to prove a point. Thanks Dollface." He motioned for Hodges to follow him back out but left the door open so Hannah would hear what he was saying. Greg didn't want her thinking he was talking behind her back.
"You can tell her moods by what she is listening to." Hannah perked up and eavesdropped on the conversation.
Greg continued. "If she is mad, she'll put something loud on, if she is sad then she will listen to country and if she listening to techno well that can only mean two things."
"What ?" Hodges asked.
"She is either happy or . ."
"Gregory Sanders will exist no more if he finishes that sentence mind you." Hannah said loud enough for them to hear outside the door. Hannah smiled in the fact that Greg knew her so well. Greg just smiled and walked away knowing he was right.
Hannah knew her break was coming up and she was thinking of what she wanted to eat. Only one word popped up, Bagel.
"Blueberry bagel, yeah thats it. . . . "
Grissom stood outside the DNA lab watching Hannah talk to herself about a blueberry bagel.
"That girl has lost it." Greg piped up beside him watching his object of affection. Grissom turned to look as Greg and then just shook his head as he walked off. Greg followed shrugging his shoulders.
"What? What did I say?"
Hannah sat in the breakrooom enjoying her bagel, when she got a craving for . . Peanut Butter. Yeah thats it. She knew she would find some in the fridge. She opened the door but soon her search stopped. She began feeling nausiated. She ran from the room and Cath and Sara were walking in. Cath sat down but soon followed her when she noticed that Sara was gone. As soon as she hit the ladies bathroom she heard vomiting and knew that it wasn't good.
"You opened the fridge didn't you?" Hannah nodded sadly and began throwing up again at the mention of it. Catherine stormed out of the room mumbling about she was going to rip Grissom a new one if he didn't clean out his experiments. Sara watched Hannah pull herself up from the toilet and clean herself off. She walked over to the sink and began washing off.
"Sara, Please don't tell Grissom. Just . . .please don't tell him."
"I won't tell but you need to see someone about this. How long have you known?"
"A few months now, 26 weeks to be exact. I wanna keep it. Even though. . ." Sara nodded in understanding. She knew Hannah well enough to know she would make the baby suffer for a mistake it didn't make.
