Chapter 2
AN: Thanks Anon for the response. I wanted to see if anywone would respond before I posted anymore of it. No the story isn't complete. One day I hope that it will be.

Trudy slowly led the girl toward the mall. The going was slow. They had to stop and rest every few minutes when the contractions would come again. Gel wasn't sure how much more this girl could take, and Trudy's concerned look didn't help. When they reached the outside of the mall, Trudy looked down.
"I can't carry her anymore," Gel moaned. "She's too heavy."
"She's hardly anything!" Trudy protested. She saw Gel's unyielding face and sighed. She looked at the writhing form between them. "Let's set her down."
The managed to put her on the ground gently and Trudy spoke to her again, not knowing if she was being heard through the haze of pain. "Look, I have to go inside and get some help. Just sit here and I'll get someone to help bring you inside."
Clara was too worn out to say anything or leave. So, she just nodded her head. Gel opened her mouth to protest being left with her but Trudy was already gone.

Lex just sat in the café. It had been two weeks since Clara had just shown up and told him that she was pregnant with his child. Then turned around and left again. He had tried to tell her to stay and he would take care of her, but she wouldn't hear of it. Damn her! She was carrying his child.
Clara had told him that she would be back but she hadn't been back yet.
Different times, he would go into the city and look for her. Lex had no idea where she would be. Clara had always had a way of only appearing when she wanted to.
Lex was about the get up to get his coat and go look for her again, when he heard a shout.
"Lex, Amber, Jay, someone I need some help!"
'Oh great, what's her problem now,' he thought.
Lex got up and decided to find out why she was yelling.
"What do you want, Trudy?"
"Could you come down here, I need your help. There's a girl outside who's in labor and she can't walk. I can't carry her alone."
Lex's first reaction was to tell her to just leave the girl then a thought hit him. 'Clara.'
"All right, where is she?" he said as he raced down the stairs.
"She's right by the entrance."
Lex followed Trudy to the entrance and saw Clara lying there with a perplexed Gel sitting away and looking on. Lex reached down and picked up the missing mother-to-be.
"Clara, you'll be okay," he whispered, then looked at Trudy. "Come on show me the room you want me to take her to."
Clara was just barely aware of anything. She was in so much pain and she couldn't catch her breath. The only thing she was aware of was the fact that she was being picked up, and the familiar voice talking to her.
Trudy led Lex to one of the bedrooms on the ground floor.
He laid her on the bed and kneeled down on the floor next to her taking her hand in his own. Trudy just looked at him, "Lex, do you know her?"
Lex answered without looking away from the girl, "Her name is Clara and that child she's carrying is mine."
"What do you mean the kid's yours?"
Trudy was shocked, everyone knew that Lex had been with a lot of women, but even she thought he would have been faithful to Tai-San. Gel looked shattered and looked to Clara without pity - but envy.
"It's a long story, but I was with Clara when she got pregnant."
"You were cheating on Tai-San and you expect us to take care of your kid?"
Lex was angry. "I wasn't cheating on Tai-San. She and I were already split up when I got together with Clara."
"And you left her pregnant. Typical of you, only looking out for number one."
"Trudy, I told you it was a long story and I don't want to talk about this right now. The only thing I care about is Clara and the baby."
"Okay, just stay here. I need to get Amber and clean my hands." She looked at Gel. "Can you please get some things for me and bring them here? In my room, there's a sewing kit and shears, also, I need you to go into the kitchen and boil some water, those shears have to be sterilized. Get Sammy to help you and don't burn yourself."
"Get them yourself!" she spat, turning on heel with tears in her eyes and running off, shocking Trudy and Lex. Trudy went to call for her, but she was gone.
"I'll be back," she assured, going off for help.
Lex just looked at woman he wanted to love, "Clara, you're going to be okay. You're just going to have our baby. You can live here with me and we'll raise our baby together. They'll make both of us settle down for once in our lives."
Clara letting go of his hand looked up at Lex in between contractions, "Lex, I want you to promise me something."
"Anything."
"Take care of our baby. I don't have much time left. I can't take this anymore."
"No, we're going to get you through this, and we are going to raise this child together."
"Lex, I never told you, but I should have never gotten pregnant. This is going to kill me."
He thought is must be the pain that she was in. He knew nothing of children, let alone birth.
"What do you mean?"
Just then another contraction came and Clara let out a blood-curdling scream. Lex grabbed a hold of her hand again, "Clara, squeeze my hand."
He had no idea what else he could do.
Trudy finally came back with Amber and Salene, she'd found Sammy and he'd agreed to take care of the things Gel refused. Amber looked at Lex, "Okay, you can leave now."
He just glared at Amber; "I'm staying. I'm only going say this to you once. That's my child she's having so I'm not leaving. I'm here until the end."
Amber and Salene just stood there. "It's yours?"
"Yes, and would you like to help, please? I have no idea what to do."
Amber and Salene set right to work.
Trudy took the shears from the sewing kit and put them in the pot of water that Sammy had brought. Trudy looked at Salene. "Could you please find some clean blankets for the baby? I think there should be a bag of Brady's old clothes somewhere in my room. Just grab something and bring it back here."
She then went to Clara.
"Clara, I have to put my hand inside of you to feel if you're ready to deliver. Lex, hold her down while I do this. I'll do this as carefully as I can." Trudy put her hand inside. "Okay, she's almost there. Amber, I need you to get on the other side of Clara and when I tell you to, I want you two to hold her up as she pushes. I'll count to ten." Just then, another contraction was coming on. "Okay, now Lex and Amber hold her up. Clara push! 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9… 10. Good, again, soon will have a baby."
It was a long labor and delivery for both Clara and Lex, but he remained at her side the whole time. Amber flexed her arms, the weakness seeping in, but she vowed to stay, Trudy had delivered Baby Bray, she deserved a little help when she wanted it. Especially after Jay had left her for her best friend. Amber wished Jay was there now, along with Ellie and Jack, they could take turns helping.
Trudy stood at the foot of the bed ready to deliver the baby. Lex and Amber were on either side of Clara holding her up while she pushed. It was time.
"Okay one more push and we'll have a baby," Trudy assured her gently.
Clara pushed with everything she had left and the little baby slid right into Trudy's arms. "It's a girl."
Trudy cut with the shears, tied the umbilical cord with some thread, and wrapped the newborn in a blanket then handed her to Lex. "It looks like you're finally a father, Lex. Congratulations."
Lex just smiled, he was on the border of tears. "Look Clara. I can't believe it. You’ve made me a dad."
But when he looked at Clara, she was already gone. The mother had given everything she had to let her little baby be born.
Trudy walked up to Lex. "Clara said that she had been a car accident when she was younger, and had a tear in her heart. This was a risk. I’m sorry."
Lex just nodded; he was on the verge of tears, this time because of the woman who gave him his child. "Clara made me promise to take care of her."
Amber walked over to Lex, "I know you will. Here let me have her and I'll give her a bath so that we can put some clothes on her. By the way do you have a name for her?" She then reached for the baby.
Lex reluctantly handed the little girl to Amber. "Yes, I'm going to call her Angela. That was Clara's middle name. She would haunt me if I named the baby her first name. She always hated her name."
Lex just sat down in a chair next to Clara's body. Trudy was about to walk out of the room with Amber when she looked back. "Lex I'll help you with what ever you need to take care of her."
"Thanks Trud," said Lex and he put his head in his hands.
