CHAPTER TWO

Chapter Two

Tarzan’s POV

Tarzan waited impatiently for Jane to come back to her room after the phone call. From his perch on the building he was unable to see her clearly once she left her bedroom making him nearly itch with the desire to move closer.
Expecting her to take her place at the window once again, he let out a disappointed grunt when she turned off the lights and crawled into bed. Oh what he would do to be in that bed with her. To pull her close, breathe in her scent, taste her soft lips.
These thoughts were doing nothing to calm him. Since Jane was in bed for the night, and safe, Tarzan decided to go burn off some of his energy before stopping in at his Aunts to make arrangements to leave soon.

Jane’s POV

Sleep didn’t come easy and when it did all it brought was fitful nightmares. Over and over again she saw him walking towards the jet, the thing that would forever take her love. Only in the dreams he didn’t hear her scream out. He didn’t stop and turn around to pin her with his intense gaze. Didn’t move towards her and pull her body tight to his in a powerful embrace. Instead no matter how hard she tried to make her voice loud enough to stop him the sound always came out a choked off cry causing her to wake with hot tears burning trails down her cheeks, with sobs so strong that her entire body would be shaking from the loss.
The fear and pain of seeing him leave her all alone night after night was fast becoming too much to bare. Instead of waking up rested Jane woke up more exhausted then if she had not slept at all. She had to put an end to this. She had to see him before the dream really did became a reality.
A quick look at the clock told her that it was almost time to get up so it didn’t pay to attempt any more sleep.
While showering and getting ready for work, she tried to focus on her obligations at work but no matter how hard she tried her mind kept returning to how she would track him down. Even if she could find him would he talk to her or run the other way. After everything she put him through it wouldn’t surprise her if he avoided her all together but she had to at least try to fix this mess she created.
All day Jane found it impossible to focus on work. Several times Sam had to snap her out of the daydreams that seemed to overpower a good share of her thoughts.
Once work was finally over, Jane decided to take a walk through the park on the way home secretly hoping Tarzan would make himself known.
Several times during her walk she could have sworn he was right next to her but the second she looked there was no one.
It was already dark out before Jane remembered that Nikki was supposed to be leaving to go stay with her parents for a few weeks. It was probably to late already to say goodbye but that didn’t stop her from starting a fast jog the rest of the way to the apartment. Sure enough the place was empty, and there was a note on the coffee table.

Jane,

I waited as long as I could. I’ll call when I get there so you know I arrived safely.

Love,
Nikki

God knows she loves her sister but the thought of not having to deal with her for awhile was enough to bring on a slight smile.

Tarzan’s POV

It was early morning still, and the sun was barely peaking out, but all he could manage was a short nap before the pull to go to Jane had him back at his usual spot across the street from her window. She was already awake and just getting out of the shower when he arrived, and to his surprise the window was still open giving him the perfect view. He watched her every move, and when the towel fell from her form his breath seemed to nearly choke him. It was times like this that wearing cloths really didn’t make sense. His eyes followed Jane’s every move, memorizing her body from head to toe while she moved around the room gathering her cloths for the day. Before long he had to adjust his position in the hopes of finding a more comfortable stance with no avail.
The rest of the day went by surprisingly fast. He was able to fill a good part of it with thoughts of what they would do once away from this place. There were so many things he wanted to show her. Things she had never imagined possible.
So engrossed in thought, he nearly let Jane leave her work without noticing.
It took just seconds to catch up however. It was easy to notice the way she was looking around in search of someone. He couldn’t resist the urge to get as close as possible, and was nearly caught several times but with quick thinking he managed to remain out of sight.
Was it possible that she was actually searching for him? That thought alone brought on a hopeful grin. Maybe she changed her mind finally and realized what her heart had known all along.
Just as he was about to risk rejection again, Jane took off at a fast jog. Determination evident on her features he decided to hold off on that thought, and merely followed worried what could be wrong.
He almost followed her into the building only remembering at the last minute the mistake he was about to make. Skillfully Tarzan climbed up her building with ease stopping just outside of the bedroom window. It took her a few minutes longer than him to make it up to the apartment.
Jane’s POV

Once inside she only hesitated long enough to read the note, before making her way into her bedroom. The first thing she did was walk to the window and open it.
Leaning against the sill, Jane closed her eyes and took a deep calming breath trying to relax. She nearly turned away until something caught her attention just outside the window. Instantly everything seemed to freeze. All she could focus on was his face. It hit like a lightning bolt straight to her heart that she was definitely without a doubt in love with him.
