Chapter 2

{Chapter 2}

Nick hovered closely to Sara as they walked into the small crowded cafe. The sound of 20 different conversations going at once made the diner come to life, dishes clinking in the back ground, the sweet smell of food making both of their stomachs grumble. He carefully guided her through the tables, his hand on the familiar spot on her lower back. They were originally going to get their food to go, but they both decided they couldn't wait to eat.

Nick's dark eyes scanned the place for an open spot, Sunday mornings always being the most crowded. He spotted Warrick sitting by himself at a small booth, newspaper folded out in front of him as he sipped his coffee. Sara spotted him too, tilting her head back in the silent question, 'should we join him?'

With out speaking he nodded, both shifting direction so they headed straight for the table.

"Mind if we join you?" Nick asked, already sliding into the booth, making room for Sara to take a seat next to him.

"No problem man, so what's going on?" He asked, laying the paper next to him on the red plastic seat.

"Not a lot, I'm going to take Sara on a road trip after breakfast." Nick smiled, feeling Sara's thigh pressed against his.

"He wont tell me where we are going, so I figured I should eat... it could be my last meal. If you find my body in the desert, you know who to blame." Sara joked, catching a hurt look from Nick.

"I'll be right back, got use the restroom. Will you order for me if the waitress comes?" Sara asked, sliding out of the booth.

Warrick's green eyes settled on the way Nick was studying Sara's behind as she walked away, his dark eyes riveted to the sight.

"Earth to Nick." Warrick waved his hand in front of his face to get his attention.

"What's going on between you two, you seem awful friendly lately. Anything you want to tell me?" Warrick asked already knowing the answer.

"I don't know what you're talking about man. We're friends." Nick threw out causally.

Before Warrick could interrogate him further the bubbly redheaded waitress came to rest in front of their table.

She smacked her gum loudly, pen poised on her writing pad, "What can I get ya?"

Nick started first; "I'll have a veggie omelet, extra spinach and tomatoes, no onions and light on the cheese. An order of sourdough toast, lightly buttered with grape jelly and a two coffee's." Warrick just raised his eyebrow as Nick continued to order expertly for first Sara and then himself, "I'll have the steak and eggs, wheat toast and a side of home fried potatoes."

Nick handed the waitress the menus that he didn't even need to open, a smile lighting his face. The waitress nodded, a hint of amusement in her eyes, scribbling on her pad of paper before looking towards Warrick, "And for you handsome?" Her blue eyes batted softly.

"I'll have a short stack of pancakes, bacon, sausage and ham. Two eggs, over easy and a side of sourdough toast." He too handed her the unneeded menu.

The waitress walked away with a nod and a wink, "Coming up."

"You got it bad Nick my friend." Warrick laughed.

Nick shook his head wistfully, "I really do." His eyes caught Sara's eyes, a full smile lighting her face as she walked back to the table, sighing happily as she sat down tiredly, resting her head on Nick's shoulder.

"You guys already order?" She asked, her eyes dropping softly.

Nick looked to her affectionately, his heart singing. "Yeah, it should be coming right up. I think the waitress has a thing for Warrick, so I have a feeling he'll be getting special attention."

Sara smiled, "Don't we all have a thing for Warrick?" She laughed feeling Nick still beside her for the briefest of moments.

Warrick saw it too, and started laughing. Yep he had it bad, and if the way Sara was cuddling up with him said anything, she had it just as bad.

"Wow... Nick this place is amazing!" Sara shrieked, jumping out of the Tahoe almost before the vehicle had come to a complete stop. Her white converse sneakers left impressions on the dirt as she jogged over to the edge, her feet coming to a halt as stopped and looked out over the rocky cliff.

He laughed at her urgency, happy that he had decided to share this with her. He knew she would appreciate it. "Yeah, I like to come up here when I want to think or just to get away. You should see it at night. All the stars are out and you can see all the lights, it's really amazing."

He walked up next to her, both sets of eyes roaming out over the cliff. Las Vegas lay beneath them, quiet and still from their perspective, looking so very tiny. A small breeze floated over the valley, picking up a trail of soft brown dust in its wake. Sara looked up, the bright blue morning sky littered with large fluffy white clouds. She took a deep breath, absorbing the silence into her veins as she shut her eyes.

It was already getting warm, the sun beating down against her skin delightfully, her body absorbing the rays. The dry desert temperature was already on the rise, the bright sun shining higher and higher with each passing minute. Sara turned her head, flashing him a full watt smile, her shoulder length chestnut hair whipping behind her as the wind picked up. The sun shone off of her hair, making the brown silk flash in small highlights of copper. He just studied her, watching as the stress of life slowly melted from her oval face.

He reached out for her hand, intertwining her fingers with his as he tugged her back towards the midnight black SUV. He hopped up on the hood, pulling her up with him as they settled on the vehicle. The metal protested at the weight at first, denting only slightly from their indentations. They rested their back flat on the still warm hood; the engine making pining sounds as at cooled its self down.

Still holding her hand in his, he pointed up towards the clouds, his eyes struggling to make out some form or definition in the shapeless clouds.

"What do you think that one is?"

Sara squinted her eyes, her heart racing as Nick traced small patterns with his fingers against her hand. She felt so comfortable, so loved.

"I'd say it's a rabbit?" She said in question, laughing as she looked over and saw him concentrating to see what she saw.

After a few minutes he shook his head, "A rabbit? No way... it's more like a hand giving a peace sign."

Sara rolled her eyes, "Alright Mr. Smarty pants... what's that one?" Her elegant finger pointed towards the sky, both of their heads leaning in towards one another as Nick tried to see what she was pointing at from her perspective.

He could feel the warmth from her body, her breath on his neck as she turned to look at him. The cloud was suddenly forgotten, her hand lowering as Nick turned his head further. Their noses were just nch nch apart, Sara's lips parting slightly. He turned on his side a bit more, wanting to study her, wanting to capture this image of her in his mind forever.

His hand came up to trace a few errant strands of hair off of her face, his fingers lingering against her skin.

"You're so beautiful Sara." He whispered out loud, the thoughts in his head filtering through his mouth before he could stop them.

Sara's breath hitched in her throat, her heart jack hammering in her chest as she felt a nervousness flutter inside of her stomach. "You're not so bad yourself Nicky." She purred, her voice sounding odd even to her.

She knew he was going to kiss her, her tired mind focusing solely on that. Her tongue reached out softly to coat her lips in a thin sheen of moisture.

His eyes grew dark, his face slowly hovering towards her. The fingers that were lightly resting on her skin, turned to cup her cheek, tilting her head to a better angle. He moved slowly, the wind whipping around them as he gave her every chance to pull away, to tell him to stop. Her eyes were drowning in his deep chocolate ones, her whole body waiting in anticipation.

His lips softly pushed against her own, so tenderly Sara felt her heart melting into a pile of mush. He applied only the faintest amount of pressure, the kiss remaining chaste. He pulled away as slowly as he had approached, a tiny grin in the corner of his lips. Sara smiled, her hand moving to wrap around his neck. She pulled him back down, taking the initiative and smashing her lips against his.

He groaned, the feel of her mouth against his own, the feel of her tongue tracing the seam of his lips. He parted his mouth, both tongues sweeping against one another as the kiss deepened. They lay there for several minutes, the warm rays of sun beating off the black metal of the hood as they embraced, exploring each other's mouths. Nick nibbled on her lower lip, breaking the kiss only long enough for them to fill their lungs with air.

She pressed her body against his, her free hand settling on his jean-clad hip, her breasts pushing against his hard chest. He rolled their bodies slightly, the metal beneath them denting even further as he settled some of his weight on top of her. She moaned, feeling his hard arousal pressing into her hip. He kissed her passionately, teeth barely scrapping, lips molding as one.

Timowlyowly passed, the sun rising higher in its ascent, as they were both content to just kiss each other. He broke away panting, eyes still closed, resting his head on her chest.

"Wow." He breathed, feeling the pounding of her heart against his face.

Sara laughed softly, threading her fingers through his short hair. She could not have said it better her self.

They both gave a small laughing as the dent of where he had just been popped back out. "Maybe we should get off before we dent it for real, Grissom would kis." s." Sara suggested.

He nodded, Nick slipping off the hood as he helped Sara down. She was about to protest his help, knowing damn well she could do it on her own, but she stopped, letting him put his strong hands on her waist. They stood their, looking into each other's eyes as he backed her up so the back of her legs were resting against the grill.

His mouth swooped in suddenly, capturing her in a breath taking kiss, his arms wrapping and holding her body to his. The air around them seemed to charge with electricity, wind surrounding them in a cocoon of time as they continued to kiss for long minutes. Sara arched her head to the side as his lips trailed wet kisses over her cheek and down the slender column of her neck.

Her knees felt like putty, her hands gripping onto his shirt as she felt her self grow dizzy with arousal.

His lips burned a fiery trail in its wake, his mouth moving over the center column of her throat before moving to the other side of her neck. The hand that was resting on her shapely hip moved up the front of her shirt, passing over the fabric of her cotton shirt. He cupped her heavy breast in his hand. Her nipple was hard and straining through the then fabric of her tank top, begging for his attention.

Sara let her hands roam over his chest, her nails lightly scratching through his shirt as she moved over each twitching muscle. His lips found hers once more, his hand moving from the outside of her shirt, under the hem. Her skin almost burned him with the heat of her arousal and with her low breathy moans that he captured in his mouth as his tongue moved sensually against hers.

He pulled her bra down, her curvaceous mound spilling into his hand. He kneaded the flesh softly, his fingers moving to take the hard peak of her nipple in between his fingers. She moaned loudly, knees buckling as he bit gently against her lip, making her lips full and swollen. He held her body up with his other arm wrapped around her waist, pushing her further back against the truck for better leverage.

He took a deep breath, steeling any and all remain air from her lungs as he pried his mouth away from hers. He gave her a sheepish smile of dark desire, his hand moving to place her bra back in its original position. He whispered huskily into her ear, his voice thick with accent, "You said something about getting naked?" He teased, making her body quiver.

She laughed out loud, her clouded eyes regaining some clarity as she remembered where they were. As much as she wanted him to take her right there and now, she knew it just wasn't practical. Sex could be messy and she didn't want to deal with the dust and dents. What would they tell Grissom about the large indentation on the front hood? 'Sorry Griss, me and Nick copulated on the Tahoe, you'll need to take a sledge hammer to get it straightened out.' She didn't think so.

"Your place or mine?" Her voice was breathless and wanton; her sun-kissed cheeks flushed with desire.

It was his turn to laugh, as he shuffled her towards the car, opening her car door to let her in. She tucked her self in the seat, watching as he shut her door and all but ran to his side. He gave her a dazzling smile, leaning across the seat to give her one last soft lingering kiss. He pulled her hand into his lap, wrapping his hand around it, not ready to loose contact just yet.

He tired spun against the loose soil as he sped out, the wheels giving a second of protest before they squealed. His special spot just became that much more important to him. Today was the first day of the rest of his life and he had Sara by his side.

The car ride was made in silence, both content to steal small glances from the corner of their eyes, hands tightly clasped together. He pulled into his dway, way, the purring engine dying into silence as he shut off the motor. They sat there for a few minutes, both trying to think of something to say.

"Are you sure about this Sar?" He asked softly, bringing her knuckles to his mouth.

His tongue darted out softly against the skin, before his lips covered each bone of her hand.

She felt her body swooning at his touch, at the look in his eyes as he looked at her. He wouldn't pressure her, pushing her into anything that she wasn't ready for, and that's what made her stomach flutter. She trusted him. He was her best friend, her confidant, the only person that she felt she could trust her soul with. She had shared things with him that no one knew, he knew her intimate secrets and she knew his.

She nodded her head, not trusting her voice. If she said anything she was sure she was going to blurt out her eternal love to him.

He let go of her hand, exiting the SUV and walking around to her side before pulling the door open. His heart was pounding in his chest, the excitement he felt making his toes numb. They walked to the house, holding hands, shoulders brushing with each step. Everything was perfectly calm, like the eye of the storm before a tornado hit. The heavy door shut behind them, both looking at one another for reassurance.

No words were needed, as they exposed their souls to one another. It happened in a blink of an eye, the flurry of the storm finally catching up with them as Nick pressed her against the door, kissing her with all the pent up sexual frustration and love he had within himself. Sara whimpered in his onslaught, her hands all over his body at once, desperate for the feel of his skin against her own.

He pealed his shirt over his head, breaking the kiss only long enough to throw it behind him. Sara did the same, her shirt fluttering besides his on the ground as their bodies melted against each other, skin on skin. Sara had only the briefest of glances at his flawless body, chiseled with fine marble, cut out of stone. She let her palms move over every hard muscle, moaning deep in her throat as he cupped her breast.

He moved his hands to cup her apple behind, pressing her further up the wall as she wrapped her long legoundound him, grinding her self against his large arousal. She could feel the outline of his steel, making her body react in a way she didn't even know she could. She was so hot, her blood boiling with need. He thrust against her center, feeling her hard button of pleasure pulse and jump with each stroke.

She was writing against him, her nails slightly scratching against his back as they consumed each other. He took a few deep breaths, breaking their heated kiss to rest his forehead against hers. He kept a firm hold around her bottom as Sara wrapped her arms around his neck. He carried them away from the door and towards the bedroom, steeling soft kisses as he walked blindly. She deserved more than to be taken against his door, maybe another time. He wanted to make love to her on his bed. He wanted to see her hair fanning across his dark sheets, as he loved her from her head down to her toes and everywhere else in between.

His bedroom door closed with a soft click, Nick's voice unsteady as he set her partially nude body on the bed.

He crawled towards her, Sara backing up so she was in the middle of his king sized mattress.

His eyes started to water at the realization that he could touch her, kiss her, and love her. "I love you Sara." The words were whispered shyly, as if he didn't know how she would react to the declaration.

"Make love to me Nick." She replied, her own eyes watering from the timid tone in his voice.

They spent the next few hours exploring each other over and over again, confessing their love for one another until they fell into an exhausted slumber. Nick's body was wrapped tightly around her nude and still trembling one. He kissed her shoulders and neck softly until he felt her tremors cease, her breath evening out as she fell asleep in his arms. Together they would be okay.
