Chapter 2: A Surprising Development

Kimberly had just finished getting dressed when her communicator alert went off.
"Kimberly, this is Adam. I need to see you right away. It's an emergency!"
"Are you all right Adam, you sound funny" She answered.

"Alright let me call Tommy and the others."

Kimberly worried over the sound of Adam's voice, teleported directly to his room appearing in a pink flash. There standing in the middle of the room was a familiar looking naked girl. “Adam?” Kimberly asked.

Zordon and Alpha Five ran Adam through a series of tests. A few minutes later Zordon announced the results. “It seems the energy from the spell that Mindfucker cast on you to change your sex has not fully dissipated yet. Something has occurred to reactivate the spell.”
“What could do that?” Adam asked.
“I’m not sure but there was a surge in the Morphing Grid last night that may have had something to do with it.”
“What caused the surge?”
“It was probably an attack on the Grid by Lord Zedd. He attacks the Grid from time to time to see if a weakness can be found. Fortunately, he does not have the energy to conduct a long attack which is a good thing since we lose our ability to track monsters in Angel Grove when it happens. Where were you around 9:30 last night?”
“I don’t remember exactly, I remember being at Ernie’s up until he closed at 9:00. I was helping him test out his new juice coolers. And then I left to go home. The next thing I remember was waking up in bed after a bad dream.”
“Hmm, I see. I think there is a connection with the surge and your change. Your memory loss is probably a side effect. I should be able to reverse the effect but I must do some research and testing first.”
“Will it take long?” Adam asked hopefully.
“It may take a day or two.”
“A day… how am I going to hide this from my parents?”
“Couldn’t cal call and say you’re staying with a friend? You could stay at my house.” Kimberly said.
“But what about my voice?” Adam asked.
“We could use the voice modulator in the control panel,” Alpha Five suggested. “It will make your voice sound normal over the phone.”
“Alright that’s settled then,” Kimberly said.
"The remaining question is what to tell the othergersgers.” Zordon said. “Billy will recognize you as the woman he had sex with."
"No he mustn't know it was me, I don’t think I could deal with that."
"If that is your wish but he will know he slept with you. If you like, you can tell him a cover story that you are Kimberly's friend who was kidnapped by Mindfucker for his trap. However, Tommy will have to be told. As the team leader he is the only one in a position to protect your secret if the Rangers are called to action."
"All right", Adam said sounding very depressed, "all right."

They decided briefing Tommy was the first item on the agenda but Kimberly also noticed Adam was starting to look a little zoned out.
“Why don’t we meet Tommy at Ernie’s,” she suggested. “I think you need to sit down and it’s time for lunch anyway.”

Adam and Kimberly, after calling Tommy to join them, teleported to Ernie’s Juice bar where they met Tommy.
Over a meal of Ernie’s famous veggie burgers and his new mango juice coolers, Adam and Kimberly filled Tommy in on.

Adam began to notice something odd. Tommy and Kimberly had been snuggling up to each other during the conversation. It had started as simple hand holding but now Tommy’s hand had disappeared under the table and Adam was sure it was in Kimberly’s lap. It seemed odd, even though they had declared themselves a couple, they had always been reserved about public displays of affection.
