Chapter Nineteen
Morning sickness


The Doctor was the first to awake the next morning and while Nic laid in his protective arms he watched her as she slept. He then moved his hand down to her flat tummy and started stroking it knowing something so wonderful and precious was living inside it. Nicola awoke when she felt his top arm moved down to her flat tummy as he stroked it she smiled. She kissed his cheek. “I thought you were asleep”. He whispered to her and kissed her back. “Nope, just woke up”. She said with a smile. That was soon replaced with a frown on her face and her skin started to pale. She quickly got out of bed with her head bent over the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, throwing up the last of the last thing she ate the day before. The Doctor looked surprised but walked into be with her. He helped by moving her hair out of the way, when she’d finished she looked confused. “I can’t believe it”. She said with tears rolling down her cheeks. “Morning sickness is quite common in pregnant women, sweetheart”. He told her. “Didn’t you know that”? He asked. She shook her head. “I never had it with the Octopletes, as they were too quick”. She told him getting up and washing her face in the sink. Then flushing the loo. “Some women can have it for days or weeks and then after that it’s the big bumps, craving for things and endless trips to the loo because the baby likes laying on bladders”. He explained to her as they both brushed their teeth together. “We’re going to have to talk to my parents and I need to drop Pippy and her puppies back over theirs”. She told him who looked worried. She saw it. “Don’t worry to much, I’ll tell them I’ve met the man of my dreams: who’s swept me off my feet and has taken me to all places. I won’t say anything about the changes in me or the you've knocked me up thing”. She told him who spat out the toothpaste all over the mirror, she laughed. “When we capture that perv who raped me, I’ll give them a ring”. She said kissing his cheek and walking to the shower and turning it on, he was still looking at her when she turned around, she looked back at him with a smile. “What”? She said to him. “Are they nice people you’re parents”? He said coming over to join her washing her back and when finished that washed her hair. “Oh… Yeah. Just a bit protective over me. But don’t worry they’re lovely people”. She said to him. He nodded but just to tease him she sent him a picture of her father hitting her last boyfriend for hurting her feelings and causing him to gulp. “You know I would never hurt you”. He said enveloping her into a cuddle. “I know and I love you, no matter what happens”. She said kissing him. “I love you too”. He said as they pull apart. After they dried off they got dressed, as they would be going outside in a little while, after they ate some breakfast. (Beans on toast) they went into the control room. “Good morning, TARDIS”. Nicola said out loud. The TARDIS made a humming sound and Nicola looked to the Doctor for help. “I thought you said you were friends”. He said with a smile to her. “We are, I can talk to her spirit, but not the physical TARDIS”. Nicola explained.
“Oh right. She wanted to know if we slept ok last night”. He said. “Yes thank you”. She said to the TARDIS out loud.
