Misunderstanding
Chapter 18
"You okay?" L.B. asked after Luke had left.
"Ye...not really but I will be," Bo softly replied. "I'm sorry L.B., I don't know why Luke's acting this way," Bo turned away, unable to face his lover.
"Aw Bo," L.B. stepped forward and taking hold of his lover's arm turned him around. "You ain't responsible for the way Luke acts, ya don't have anything to be sorry for."
"But..."
"No! Would you blame me if Cooter or my folks had a problem with us?"
"No," came the reluctant reply.
"Come here," L.B. whispered, drawing Bo into his arms. He wasn't surprised when the first tears fell from his lover's beautiful eyes. As he felt them soaking his shirt, L.B. wished he had Luke back in front of him so he could knock him on his ass. Gently he lowered his lover back to the blanket. Never loosening his hold he offered Bo what comfort he could, hoping it would be enough.
Bo wasn't sure how long he had been crying, but judging by how wet L.B.'s shirt was, it must've been awhile. He could feel his face flooding with heat as the tears finally came to a stop. "Sorry," he mumbled against his lover's neck, too embarassed to face the other man.
"Do you feel better?" L.B. quietly asked.
"Yeah."
"Then there ain't nothing to be sorry about, or embarassed for."
"Can't hide anything from you, can I?" Bo said with a small chuckle.
"Nope," L.B. agreed, returning the laugh. Pulling back, he placed one finger under his lover's chin and raised his head until he could clearly see his eyes. "You want to talk about it?"
"Nothing to talk about, don't look at me like that babe I ain't trying to hide anything. I just mean, well we know Luke don't approve and there ain't nothing either one of us can do about that, so what is there to talk about?"
"Well how about the fact that he just ripped a piece of your heart out," L.B. suggested angrily.
"Ain't nothing to say. Yeah it hurts, but I'll be okay. Especially with your love to help me," Bo answered, leaning forward and brushing L.B's lips with a gentle kiss.
"I'll help all I can, I hope you know that."
"Yeah and I love you for it," Bo softly said, laying his head on L.B's shoulder once again.
"What is it angel?" L.B. asked when he felt Bo trembling in his arms.
"I'm scared," came the soft reply. "What if Daisy and Uncle Jesse get mad too? I don't know if I could handle having my whole family hating me."
"I don't think they will Bo. They may not be thrilled with the idea, but I can't see them hating you. For that matter, as much as I hate to admit it, I don't think Luke hates you either."
"You don't?"
"No, I'd like to say he does so you'd stay away from him and he couldn't hurt you again, but it'd be a lie."
"Thank you babe."
"Just telling you what I think," L.B. said, a small smile playing across his face.
"Guess there ain't no point in putting it off," Bo said after several minutes. Pulling away from L.B., he pushed himself to his feet. Holding out a hand, he pulled his lover up and after a quick, light kiss he turned away and started gathering supplies. A few minutes later, they had picked up all the evidence of their picnic and were headed back to the truck.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesse looked up from the newspaper with a smile. He knew it was probably silly, but he couldn't help being relieved every time Bo came home safely from Tri-County. Laying his paper on the coffee table, he stood up and headed outside wanting to ask L.B. if he would stay for supper.
Daisy sat back on her feet, feeling pleased with the results of her work in the flower garden. Looking up at the sound of L.B's pick-up, she stood up with a grin on her face. As she started towards the truck, the smile fell the moment she saw the distressed look on Bo's face. Breaking into a run, she hurried to her cousin's side, "Bo, what's wrong baby?"
Coming outside, Jesse saw Daisy rushing to the side of his youngest, a worried look on her pretty face. As quickly as he could, he raced towards his youngins, wondering what had happened to Bo and praying that it wasn't serious. "Bo, what's happened?"
"I, um, I need to talk to you, both of ya," Bo replied, barely able to look at them.
"Alright, well let's get you inside. Thank you L.B. for giving Bo a ride," Jesse began only to be interrupted.
"Actually Uncle Jesse, this concerns L.B. too," Bo said. "Could we go inside and talk, please?"
"Of course we can," Jesse agreed. Wrapping an arm around his youngest, he helped the blond into the house, concerned by the way his nephew was acting. Leading the way into the small structure, he helped Bo to the couch, surprised when L.B. took a seat beside his nephew.
Bo waited for his uncle and cousin to take their seats before he began. With a quick look to L.B. for courage, Bo turned to his family. "Uncle Jesse, Daisy, I need to tell ya something and I'd appreciate it if you'd let me finish before ya say anything. If you want me to leave after I tell ya, I will, I just hope you won't hate me too."
"Hate you? Bo, son how could you ever think we could hate you? I don't know what you need to tell us, but there is nothing that could ever make us hate ya," Jesse assured him.
"Uncle Jesse's right Bo, there's nothing you could do that would make us hate ya," Daisy voiced her own assurances.
"Thanks y'all, but maybe you should wait until ya hear what I have to say before you say that."
"Alright Bo," they both agreed. Exchanging worried looks, they turned towards Bo and waited for him to begin.
"I don't really know where to start," Bo said, licking his lips nervously. " You know what Mark Dawson did to me, but what ya don't know is what he said when I tried to tell him I wasn't gay. He said that there wasn't no way I was straight cause of what I was able to do," Bo skirted the exact words, not about to repeat them in front of Daisy. "It got me wondering and I talked to Chris about it, he told me he didn't think I was gay but that if I happened to fall in love with a man he thought it wouldn't bother me. Turns out he's right, I didn't plan it y'all but I realized right before the last attack that I was falling in love...with L.B.."
"You what?" Jesse yelled, shocked by what he was hearing.
Bo's entire body jerked at his uncle's yell and he would've bolted if not for L.B.'s hand on his arm. "I'm sorry Uncle Jesse, I didn't plan it..."
Jesse stared at his nephew, horrified by the fear he heard in the boy's voice, fear of him. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm down. "No Bo, I'm the one who's sorry. I had no right to yell like that, ya just surprised me is all. The first thing I guess I better say is; I don't hate ya, I never could, especially for who ya love. I don't really understand though, I ain't never known you to be atrracted to men before."
"Actually L.B.'s not the first guy I've been attracted to I just forgot about the other one. It was when I was about seventeen, nothing happened but there was a guy I was attracted to. I guess since nothing ever happened I must've convinced myself that it was just my imagination."
"So you and L.B. are...dating?" Daisy asked, finally finding her voice.
"Yeah Daisy I guess we are, I hope you can accept it."
"I only have one question Bo, does he make you happy?" his cousin quietly asked.
"Very," Bo sincerly replied, unconsciously picking up his lover's hand, he brushed his thumb across the knuckles in a comforting gesture.
"Then I can accept it," she told him with a smile. Standing up, she moved to stand in front of the two men. Kneeling down, she took their hands in her own, "Bo I love you and all I want is for you to be happy. If L.B. makes you happy then I have no problem, okay?"
"Yeah, thanks Daisy," Bo answered with a happy grin.
"And you L.B.," she turned to the other man, a stern look on her face. "You better treat him right, or you'll have me to answer to," she ordered, the stern look melting into a beautiful smile.
"Yes ma'am," L.B. agreed with a matching smile, relieved that at least one member of Bo's family could accept their relationship.
"What about you Uncle Jesse, can you accept me dating a man?" Bo asked. He was relieved that Daisy was not only accepting, but even looking out for him. Bo couldn't help thinking though that it should've been Luke who was threatening L.B. if he ever stepped out of line, not that he would.
"Well I told ya before Bo, I can't really understand it and it's not what I would choose for ya, but if you're happy then I can accept it."
With his uncle's words, Bo let go the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, relieved more than he could ever say to have his family's support. Well most of his family, he corrected, as the roar of a powerful engine was heard coming up the drive.
"It'll be alright Bo, your cousin loves you he won't hate you anymore than me or Daisy could," Jesse assured when he saw the fear on Bo's face.
"He already knows Uncle Jesse, he didn't take it good," Bo admitted. Leaning against L.B. for support, he was grateful to have his lover by his side as he faced his oldest cousin for the second time that day.
"What do ya mean sprout?"
"He means that Luke acted like an ass," L.B. angrily replied when Bo didn't.
"L.B. please..."
"He hurt you angel, and I'm not going to let him do it again," L.B. warned.
"Hurt him? Bo?" Jesse asked.
"It's alright Uncle Jesse, he just said some stuff that's all."
"What kind of stuff?"
"It doesn't matter," Bo replied, refusing to repeat the ugly words his cousin had thrown at him.
"L.B., could we leave? I ain't ready to face him," Bo asked, turning miserably to his lover.
"If that's what you want," L.B. agreed.
"Bo ya ain't got to leave, this is your home too," Jesse protested.
"I know that Uncle Jesse, I just ain't ready to deal with Luke right now, please understand."
"I don't like it, but you do what you need to. Are you gonna be home tonight?"
"I hadn't thought about it, maybe I could call ya later and let ya know."
"Alright," Jesse reluctantly agreed.
With a sad smile, Bo headed for the door with L.B. on his heels. He heard the back door opening as they stepped out onto the front porch. Feeling like a coward, he fled to his lover's truck, hoping to leave without having to face his cousin. Sighing with relief when L.B. climbed behind the wheel and started the engine, Bo relaxed into the seat as they pulled away from the farm.
"Do you think I'm a coward?" Bo asked as they pulled into the Davenport driveway a short time later.
"What? Where did that come from?" L.B. demanded.
"I ran away from Luke."
"That doesn't make ya a coward Bo, I swear," he said at Bo's doubtful look.
"I was afraid L.B., scared of what he'd say and that he might do more than just spout ugly words," Bo shamefully admitted.
"Bo you ain't got nothing to be ashamed of. You have every right to not hear that kind of stuff, and leaving instead of giving him the chance to hurt you again doesn't make you a coward, it makes ya smart. We both know that you ain't gonna back down from a fight so I don't see how you can think you're a coward."
"I did back down though, worse than that I ran," Bo miserably insisted.
"You avoided trouble in your uncle's house, spared him and Daisy from having to take sides. Besides I know that you don't want to see Luke getting hurt and if we'd stayed and he'd started spouting off, I wasn't going to stand by this time."
"I didn't think you would."
"Come on, let's go inside. I don't know about you, but I could use a nap after the day we've had," L.B. invited as he stepped out of the truck.
With a quick nod, Bo climbed out of the passenger side door, and moved to join L.B. at the front of the vehicle. Wrapping one arm around his lover's waist, he leaned against him as they slowly walked into the house. As they stepped inside, a sudden thought had Bo stopping in his tracks.
"Bo? What is it?"
"Cooter, what's he going to say about this?"
"He ain't gonna say anything Bo, Cooter already knows I'm gay remember?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot," Bo sheepishly replied.
"You want something to drink or eat?"
"Nah, now that you mentioned it a nap sounds real good," Bo answered.
"Nap it is," L.B. agreed. Taking his lover's hand, he led the way back to his bedroom, glad he had a full-sized bed to share with his angel. Stepping into the small room, he moved away from Bo and toed his boots off. Taking off his shirt, he left his pants on and climbed into the bed. "Bo?"
"Huh? Oh yeah," Bo mumbled. Toeing off his own boots and slipping off his shirt he soon joined his lover in the comfortable looking bed. "I love you," he whispered, brushing a gentle kiss across L.B.'s lips. Moaning with desire, he deepened the kiss, delving his tongue into L.B.'s mouth as it opened beneath him. Finally breaking the kiss, he drew back and gazed at his lover, desire burning in his sapphire eyes. "The things you do to me," he huskily whispered, a sexy smile crossing his face. With a heated groan, the sight of L.B.'s lust darkened eyes going straight to his groin, Bo leaned forward, nibbling on his lover's throat. Kissing and nibbling, he slowly worked his way down L.B.'s throat to his chest. Loving the sounds of pleasure coming from deep within his lover, he felt a strong desire for this man flooding through him.
"Oh God yes," L.B. moaned, the feel of his lover's mouth as he worked his way down his body turning him on like nothing else ever had. Tangling his fingers in Bo's thick blond hair, he held his lover against his chest, clearly telling him that he wanted more of his wonderful touch. As Bo nibbled at his chest, L.B. let his hands roam over the other man's body, lightly scratching the surface as he went, he grinned at the moans his actions were drawing from his lover. With a sudden surge of desire, he wrapped his hands around Bo's upper arms and quickly flipped him onto his back. "My turn angel," he growled, grinning down at the other man.
"Awww, yesssss," Bo moaned out as L.B. latched onto a sensitive nipple with his mouth. As his lover used his hands and mouth, playing Bo's body like a violin Bo could do nothing but respond. Writhing on the bed beneath his lover's skillful hands, Bo couldn't believe how good it felt. No girl had ever been able to make him feel this good, of course he hadn't really loved any of the girls he'd been with, maybe that was the difference. Suddenly he froze, the pleasurable sensations forgotten as he felt a hand on the snap of his jeans.
"Bo?" L.B. asked having felt the change in his lover. Drawing his hand back, he pulled himself to the head of the bed so that he was lying face to face with his lover.
"I'm sorry," Bo whispered, his face a study in misery.
"Hey now, you ain't got to apologize angel, I should've made sure you were ready."
"No dang it! You shouldn't have to ask," Bo cried out. "I don't know if I'll ever be ready and it ain't fair to you."
"You listen to me Beauregard Duke, it's only been a little while since you was assaulted so it's too soon to say you'll never be ready. As for fair, I'll decide what's fair to me and what ain't. I love you and if all I can ever have it what we've already got I'll be happy. Now you want to tell me exactly what it is that you ain't ready for?"
"I don't know if I can handle...I mean, well he made me use my mouth on him and I..."
"That's what I thought," L.B. said. Leaning forward, he gave his lover a gentle kiss, "Bo I ain't expecting you to do me. I know ya ain't ready for that."
"You ain't expecting me... but what about you?"
"Bo, believe me I can take care of myself, it ain't no big deal. Please let me make you feel good, let me show you just how good it can be."
"You shouldn't have to go without," Bo protested, though his resolve was weakening.
"You let me worry about me, okay?" L.B. said, leaning in for a kiss. Deepening the kiss, he used his hands to play with his lover's chest, pinching his nipples, raking his sides lightly with his nails, loving the sounds of pleasure. As Bo writhed beneath him, he transferred his kisses to his lover's throat, slowly moving towards his chest. "Is it okay?" he asked, as his hand hovered over the snap of Bo's jeans.
"Mmmmmm," Bo moaned his reply, the fire racing through his body making it impossible to think.
With a smile, L.B. unsnapped his lover's jeans, slowly lowering the zipper. "Raise your hips angel," he instructed. Tugging on Bo's jeans, he quickly pulled them down to his lover's knees, taking his boxers with them. Kissing his lover's inner thigh, he moved towards the other man's cock, stopping to nibble lightly at his ball sac and grinning at the jerk of his lover's hips. Pressing his lips against the base of Bo's cock, he sensously kissed his way up, roughly running his tongue along the thick vein as he moved towards the head. Wrapping his mouth around the tip of Bo's cock, he was glad he was ready to hold his lover in place as he instinctively bucked off the bed, seeking more attention. Attention that L.B. was only too glad to provide, slowly sucking his lover deeper into his mouth he began to hum as he sucked, knowing the effect it would have on the other man.
Bo couldn't help the tremor of fear that passed through him when L.B. opened his jeans, but he refused to give into it. Raising his hips when his lover asked, he felt a tug as L.B. removed his jeans and boxers. The sensations he was feeling as L.B. kissed his way up his cock soon had him forgetting his fear. The shockwave that went through him when his lover began to hum as he sucked his cock deeper into his mouth was nearly more than Bo could handle as he unconsciously tried to shove himself further down his lover's throat. Within moments Bo was screaming out his lover's name as he was struck with the most powerful orgasm he'd ever experienced. "Wow," he whispered, turning to L.B. as his lover once again moved up the bed and giving him a deep kiss.
"Liked that, did ya?" L.B. teased.
"Oh yeah," Bo moaned. "I wish I could..."
"It's okay angel, I promise ya," L.B. assured him again.
"No it's not," Bo protested, looking pointedly at his lover's crotch and the obvious bulge hidden beneath the denim.
"You really want to do something for me, don't ya?"
"Yeah, but I don't think I can handle, um, sucking you," Bo reluctantly admitted.
"Think you could manage a hand job?"
"Maybe, but that..."
"Would be wonderful," L.B. finished, refusing to let Bo beat himself up anymore.
Leaning forwad, Bo claimed L.B.'s lips in a passionate kiss, a kiss that ended only because the need for air forced them to stop. Slowly moving to his lover's throat, Bo let one hand drift to the top of L.B.'s jeans. With shaking fingers he opened L.B.'s pants and awkwardly pulled them down his legs, taking the boxers with them. Fighting down the fear that was rapidly trying to take over, Bo carefully wrapped his hand around his lover's cock as he used his mouth on the other man's throat and chest.
Knowing that Bo was facing one of the hardest battles he would ever face, L.B. was careful not to do anything that his lover might take as a threat. When Bo wrapped his hand around his cock and began to stroke it, L.B. forced himself not to wrap his own hand around Bo's in encouragement, but simply laid back and enjoyed the sensations. L.B. was harder than he'd ever been in his life, the pleasure he'd given Bo had turned him on in ways he never would've imagined before. So he wasn't surprised when after only a few strokes, he was shouting out Bo's name as he shot his load, covering them both with the sticky fluid. "Thank you angel," L.B. whispered as he collapsed back against the bed.
"I just wish it could've been more," Bo responded.
"Don't do that Bo. It was wonderful, you just have to be patient with yourself," L.B. told him. Leaning over, he gave him a gentle kiss before getting up and pulling his jeans back into place. Leaving the room, he returned a moment later with a wet cloth. Joining his lover on the bed, he gently cleaned him up, having cleaned himself in the bathroom. Dropping the wet cloth on the floor, he pulled Bo into his arms and pulled the covers over them both as he laid a gentle kiss on his lover's lips.
