Chapter 19

A/N: I honestly, as the years passed, didn't realize it had been almost two years or so since I've actually posted here!! I am so sorry about that . . . though I'm not sure people are actually reading this still anyway, but if anyone is still out there, this has been on my computer, and now it's online. :D And I'm sorry it's short, but I had to split it up to remain somewhat consistent.

So, when last we left our heroes, they were flying by the Skybase, former home of the Mechs, their toughest adversaries . . . ever.

“So far so good,” Jason announced as he studied his control panel carefully.

“Nothing here, Tommy,” Kimberly said, equally as sober.

“I‘m getting small sounds, Tommy,” Aisha said, uncertainly. “But nothing that would indicate any kind of living activity.”

“I’m getting what she’s getting,” Adam confirmed. “Just small readings. It could be just some residual activity from some onboard machinery that never got shut down or something.”

“I was getting activity,” they could hear the frown in Rocky’s voice. “But now I’ve got nothing. While normally I wouldn’t be concerned, this is the Machine Skybase we’re talking about.”

“Zack, open the formation a little further,” Tommy ordered. “Hang back a bit, but not too far back. I don’t want you to put yourself in any danger. Monitor the Base for a few minutes and see if the activity the others caught starts back up again. The rest of you maintain radio silence as we fly by. Don‘t break radio silence until we’re past the Skybase itself.”

“You got it,” Zack said, and for a few minutes, there was no sound as everyone followed their leader’s orders.

When they were safely beyond the base, Tommy finally broke the silence, as Zack caught up to them. “Zack, did you get anything?”

“Yeah,” he sounded puzzled. “But it really isn’t that much to be concerned about. It was just a few weak blips.”

“A few weak blips that started as we were passing, and then stopped once we registered it,” Jason shook his head. “I don’t like that.”

“Neither do I,” Rocky said, and Tommy nodded.

“Alright,” he said. “I’ll contact Andros, Red Leader of the Space Rangers, and have him keep the base under surveillance. I’m not saying anything is going on, but I want to know well in advance just in case.”

“Why do I get the feeling you haven‘t been as quite out of touch with the other Power Rangers as we thought?” Adam asked, amused, and Tommy sighed.

“Once a Power Ranger, always a Power Ranger,” he said, and he cleared his throat, slightly embarrassed. “And, once it was revealed exactly who that generation of Power Rangers were, well, I just wanted to let them know that if they ever needed me for anything, I was available.”

“And I went along for the ride,“ Kimberly chuckled.

“So, I’m assuming you’re going to introduce us sometime, too, right?“ Jason asked.

“And actually, now that we’re Power Rangers again, we can be a lot more helpful to them than we were,” Rocky said.

“Actually, right now, there’s a new group, and they’re somewhere out in the far reaches of space,” Adam said. “Some lost galaxy or something or other. I kept in touch with Carlos, and that’s what he told me.”

“Well, wherever they are, we’ll be there if we’re needed, but I really don’t think that’s what Zordon brought us back together for,” Aisha said, and Tommy nodded.

“You’re right,” he said. “But I’m still going to let Andros know about the suspected activity at the Skybase. However, for the moment, getting to Ardaxia and rescuing Billy is our number one priority.”

“You know, I’ve been thinking about that,” Adam mused. “I’m not sure going directly to Ardaxia is the smartest thing we can do.”
