ch 16

"Sara..." His voice was near tears.” Is something wrong?" What did I do? I must have done something why else would she want to leave?

"She walked over to the bed, kissing his forehead. "You need our rest."

"But.....What if I don't want you to go?" He was pleading.

Sara paused. "You don't?"

"No. I want you to stay......will you?"

Sara's eyes closed against the tears that spilled down her face. She wasn't hallucinating....he wanted her to stay. It wasn't just about the therapy anymore.

"So....will you stay?"

Sara wordlessly got out of her jeans and her T-shirt and crawled under the covers beside Grissom. He resumed his position spooned into her back and wrapped his arms around her body holding her close to him. I never want to let go.

Sara stroked his arm as her eyes closed. "Go to sleep, Grissom." He knew this was going to be one of the best sleeps he ever had.

The next morning, Sara woke up at 7:10. She looked over at a sleeping Grissom, smiling fondly at him before trying not to wake him. He felt her stir and opened his eyes. Sara was reaching down for her clothes. Grissom's hand on her back made her jump.

"Where are you going?" He groggily asked her.

"Make some coffee. I can't sleep."

"What time is it? I forgot to set the alarm."

"It's only 7:10. Go back to sleep for a little while if you want to."

"Naw, I'm up now. The ideas of coffee is good, mind if I join you?"

"Sure. And I think I'm going to go back to my place for an hour or so to freshen up."

"Oh." His voice was sad. Was it something I said or did?

"But I'll meet you at the therapist's," Sara continued.

"Do you know where it is?" He asked trying to keep positive.

"Um-hm."

"Never mind, you can just come back and get me. We only have my truck." He sat up on the bed. "We can go together."

"Okay."

He walked out into the other room and returned with keys. "Here. I'll see you in a few." He gently kissed her lips. Sara took his keys and gave him a smile before she left.

Grissom walked to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee. He then retreated to the shower to clean himself off before his therapy session. This one was going to be interesting with Sara there. He wondered if she would want to talk to him alone first and Sara alone and then with both of them. The thoughts swarmed in his head.

Sara had butterflies in her stomach as she pulled up to Grissom's townhouse an hour and a half later. She honked the horn. Hearing the horn he assumed it was Sara, he grabbed his spare key, locked the door and headed out to meet her in the truck. She's so beautiful. He got in the truck beside her. Sara drove away from the curb and toward the session.

They pulled up to the professional building. Sara put the truck in park and they both stepped out. Reaching for her hand he asked "You ready?" A smile was his only answer. Truth was, she wasn't sure if she was....

"My Doctor is Dr Duluth. She is on the second floor." He added trying to make light conversation. They took the stairs, at the top they turned right and walked down the hall he stopped. "We're here."

Sara mentally braced herself for being told to let Grissom go.... that it would never happen.

"I'll be right back." He assured her. "I just want to let her know we are here." He came right back. "Sara, she's ready for us." He smiled at her and held out his hand once again. This time though, Sara didn't take it. She insisted on entering the room behind him.

He figured she was nervous. Who was he kidding, he was nervous too. They walked into the office and Grissom took a seat with Sara right beside him.

The older woman extended her hand, "You must be Sara?"

"Hi." Sara gave her a smile.

Remembering he wanted to be called Grissom, she thought before she spoke. "Grissom has told me a lot about you. I am very pleased to finally meet you."

Sara wasn't certain how to take the comment and the doctor could tell.

The older woman spoke up. "How do you want to do this session?"

"However Gi...Grissom feels comfortable is fine with me. I could even leave if you want to talk to him one on one." This was a mistake coming here....

"I think it would be all right if she stayed for the whole session." He began "I invited her here for this." He looked over at Sara. "Will you be comfortable with that Ho..Sara?" He resisted the urge to use terms of endearment.

"Guess that's settled," Sara said weakly.

Dr Duluth looked at Grissom. "So how have your sessions been going? Have your previous patterns changed?”

He swallowed hard. This is going to be more difficult that I had thought. "I haven't been to the Brothel in nearly three weeks. Sara has been very gracious to sustain my needs."

The doctor looked up from her paper. "How is that working for you, Sara?"

Sara suddenly got up. "I'm sorry. I can't do this." She left in a hurry.

Grissom shot a look to the doctor and went after her. He got there just as the door closed. He ran out after her. "Sara..."

Sara heard him but she kept going to a waiting cab.

"Sara, please come back." He ran faster "Please..."

Sara opened the door, giving the cab driver her address. She got in and the cab drove away.

Grissom grabbed his knees as he bent over. What just happened?
