Chapter 15
Outskirts of Edge City at that same time…
Chloe and Davis had finished some take out a while ago and were now laying on the hood of the car they had been travelling looking up at the stars. Davis had told her to look at a certain constellation but she replied, “Maybe its sleep deprivation but I can’t exactly see a toga clad woman in those stars up there?”
His gravelly voice stated, “Its Demeter and her daughter…uh…Persephone. Who’s taken by Hades to the Underworld.”
“I know how the girl feels. I’m in the same situation,” Chloe thought as she got a sad look on her face but turned her head to listen to Davis’ story.
“Demeter, she enlisted the gods help to find her daughter, but when Hades offered Persephone her chance at freedom…to everyone’s surprise Persephone chose to live underground with her dark prince.”
After the story finished they both watched the sky a moment longer. Davis thinking calmly, Chloe with conflicting emotions. She wanted to help Davis but she also wanted to be back in Smallville with Clark, her cousin, the League and even Jimmy even though they weren’t talking every much she still cared about him.
“We’re actually gonna pull this off aren’t we? Find some place to slow down, build our lives together?” Davis asked with a slight grin as he turned his head to face Chloe.
Chloe knowing Davis needed her reassurance she’d be there to keep the monster at bay turned her body towards him and smiled a small smile saying, “As long as we can keep the gods from hunting us,” but when he looked away she gulped down the vile in her throat hoping to god he couldn’t hear her heart pounding in her chest like Clark could. She hadn’t wanted to do it but earlier that day she had pressed the emergency locator button on the back of her phone Oliver had put in and taped it to the bottom of the back seat. Davis was losing the battle and she didn’t know how much longer he could hold out she was getting really scared and now hearing this story and having to play along to keep Davis calm was pushing Chloe to her breaking point.
Suddenly as they were getting ready to head out again a blur of red and yellow that turned out to be Bart or Impulse flashed by them causing Davis to fall to his knees and as she knelt beside him to ask if he was alright Clark and Dinah as her alter ego Black Canary appeared.
“Clark what are you doing?”
“What I have to. Now please stay out of this.”
“No, I won’t. Things were going well until this. Now stop.”
Suddenly Clark fell to the ground with a groan and when he hit the ground everyone could see Oliver as Green Arrow standing behind him with a his bow out and when they looked down there was a green kryptonite dart in the back of Clark’s shoulder. Chloe tried to go to him to help but suddenly there was another flash of red and yellow and then black, she was unconscious.
"Dude did you have to shoot him like that?” A female voice said from the air and then suddenly Ariel landed right in front of Oliver in her Firinne costume of dark pink T with the Kryptonian symbol for Truth on it with a blue leather body length coat over it and blue leggings which were under a short dark pink skirt with a silver belt with the future Superman symbol on it but still in this present time was the symbol for the El family of Krypton and dark pink high heeled boots with silver designing and buckles. She also wore her Legion ring and a silver bracelet with the El family symbol on it and words that were so small people could see them but not read them.
“You couldn’t have done it face to face you had to do it back stabbingly, literally.” She said pointing down at her father who was struggling to move at the moment.
“I didn’t want him to attack before I could get one off.”
“Ohhh, okay. I can definitely see why you don’t join the official League until much later,” she said without giving explanation.
“How are we gonna transport Mr. Beasty to the geothermal plant?” Bart asked.
“That’s why I’m here. Give me those plastic ties,” Ariel said holding her hand out to Dinah. Dinah handed them over and before Davis could think of doing anything Ariel punched him out and tied his hands together in front of him. She then put him on her back and ran off towards the plant with Bart right behind her with Chloe and Dinah and Oliver following right behind on his bike.
