Chapter Fourteen
Piper was lying on her bed trying to sleep but the falling tears would not allow her to. She had lost so many by doing her duty as a charmed on. So many loved ones have left her and now one more was marked off the ever growing list.
She groped around in the dark and finally managed to reach the lamp and turn the light on next to her bed. She blinked several times in order to adjust to the light to see that Leo was not beside her. She felt like shit and she knew she probably looked it to. Everything had been slowly unraveling to just crash and shatter all at once.
Her little brother was now evil to the core. She saw how the power from the book of shadows just coiled off of him like sweet smelling incense when he performed that song on stage. So many questions were running through her mind. Was it all her fault? Did she fail him utterly? Had their ever been a chance to save him? What is the point in being a charmed one and do so much good only to suffer and lose those you love and care about the most?
The tears began to fall again and she hugged her pillow close. Where was Leo? He should here right here to hold her. She wiped the tears away and looked over to see the clock reading five a.m. Her door slowly opened and Paige walked in. She looked over to hear her whisper, “I couldn’t sleep.”
Piper held out a hand to her sister and Paige went and hugged her tight. Piper ran her hands through her soft red hair, “I’m so sorry Paige.”
Paige squeezed her tightly, “It’s not your fault Piper.”
“I tried,” Piper said ignoring her, “I don’t know what else to do.”
“Neither do I,” Paige said pulling away slightly so she could lay down next to her, “We both failed him.”
Piper let the tear slide down her cheek, “I should have let Leo take us to him.”
“You did what you thought was right,” Paige told her wiping the tear away with a finger, “I can’t blame you for wanting to keep us safe.”
Piper took a deep breath, “You don’t blame me?”
“Of course not,” Paige said soothingly while brushing her fingers through Piper’s dark hair, “I love you too much.”
“Piper smiled, “Thank you.”
“For what,” Paige asked.
“For being my sister,” Piper said hugging her tight, “I’m going to go make some coffee.”
Paige sat up, “I want mine as black as you can get it.”
“Ok,” Piper said and then asked, “Where’s Leo?”
“I’m not sure,” Paige said thoughtfully following her over to the door only for Leo to orb in, “I’m right here.”
Both of them turned around and Piper asked, “Where have you been?”
“Downstairs,” he told her.
“Why,” both asked.
“I was,” and be broke off only for Piper to glare, “Doing what?”
“Talking to the Seer,” he mumbled.
The both of them shrieked, “What?”
“Calm down,” he said, “She’s scared of Phoenix more than you two are.”
“What,” the both of them shrieked again only for Piper to ask, “How the hell do we know this is not some kind of trick?”
Leo shook his head, “We don’t, but you might want to hear her out.”
Piper looked to Paige, “I can’t do this.”
Paige took her hand, “Lets just go downstairs, make some coffee, and listen to her.”
Leo nodded, “All you have to do is listen nothing else.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” Piper snapped at him, “But I do want coffee.”
“Good,” he said, “Just don’t be surprised if I throw scalding hot coffee in the bitches if she so much as breathes the wrong way.”
“Just as long as you listen,” Leo said following the two down the stairs to see the Seer sitting on the sofa smiling up at them as they entered the room.

Phoenix was lying on a soft fur rug that was whiter than snow in front of a warm crackling fire with Spider curled up next to him. He gazed into the fireplace and watched the soft flames leap and dance to the song they were making. He really hoped his sisters stayed away for good this time. His hands were stained with enough blood. First the little boy’s blood stained his hands followed by Chloe’s, then Kal’s.
He held his pale hands up to his eyes and gazed at them. He could hear a soft voice whisper, “Oh, such pain.”
He looked around and saw no one. Spider had not even made a sound so he must have just imagined it. He looked back into the fire and felt his eyelids grow heavy. He shook his head and looked up at the pictures of his parents. A tear slid down his cheek, “I miss you two so much.”
He laid his head down on the soft fur rug and closed his eyes. A few minutes later sleep had taken him under his cloak of dreams. Spider licked the salty tear from his cheek and whimpered softly. He rested his head on Phoenix’s thigh when Phyre walked into the bedroom to see his angel lying on the rug.
He walked over and gazed down at Phoenix who looked like an angel fallen asleep in the snow. His vibrant red hair was splayed out and his robe was open to reveal a well tones porcelain chest. Those pale pink nipples were begging to be kissed and pinched.
He knelt down beside him and pulled him gently into his arms so he could take him over to the bed. Spider jumped up and wagged his long white tail without making a sound. Phoenix moaned softly in his sleep when Phyre picked him up in his arms.
He carried him over and gently laid him on the bed smiling as he curled up next to his beloved. Phoenix’s eyes fluttered open, “Kal?”
Phyre ran his golden fingers through his silky red hair, “I’m here Phe,” he cooed gently, “Go back to sleep angel.”
Phoenix smiled, “I love you superman.”
Phyre chuckled and that made Phoenix’s stomach jump pleasantly, “I love you to.”
Phoenix moved closer to him and smiled when a golden arm was put over him. Spider jumped up to curl up at their feet making Phyre yelp, “That tickles.”
Spider yipped making Phoenix laugh while Phyre shook his finger at him. He gently fell back to sleep and Phyre snuggled closer to him and closed his eyes.

Piper was seriously thinking about adding rat poison to the coffee she was making, and just serve it to the Seer with a sunny smile and a plate full of deadly chocolates. Which, of course, knowing her luck and all it would just taste yummier to the damn woman.
“So,” Paige asked, “What you’re saying is that this green stone is the only weakness Phoenix’s lover demon has?”
The Seer nodded, “Yes, I saw its effects myself,” she said while thinking how great this plan was going. There was no way she could take the two on by herself but this could give her the chance she had been waiting for.
Leo accepted his cup of coffee, “This rock can kill him?”
“Yes,” the Seer said, “The two of them fell into this cavern after Phoenix stole the magic from your book. Phyre was stabbed by one and would have died if Phoenix had not been there to pull it out.”
Piper nodded and handed the mug to her in which she accepted graciously, “Thank you.”
Piper smiled dangerously, “You’re welcome,” she said and then narrowed her eyes, “If we kill him will the spell he cast over Phoenix be broken?”
“Yes,” the Seer lied smoothly for there was no spell over the bitch. By all the dark gods of the Underworld the good guys could be so bloody stupid. She took a sip of coffee and said, “The spell in which your brother is under will be broken if Phyre is killed.”
Piper looked to Paige and Leo as the Seer said, “Good coffee by the way.”
“Thank you,” Piper said asking the others, “What do you all think?”
Paige rolled the green meteor rock around in her palm, “It’s kind of hard to believe that this little rock can kill him.”
“Yeah,” Paige said looking back at the Seer, “A little too hard to believe.”
“Look,” The Seer said finally getting frustrated with the fools, “You don’t have to believe me but I am the only one who can get you into the castle undetected.”
Paige put her glass down, “Why are you helping us do this anyway? I thought you served the Source.”
“I’m helping myself,” the Seer said, “That brother of yours is too dangerous and too unpredictable to be controlled by an indestructible demon with all the powers of evil at his disposal.”
“What do you get out of this,” Leo asked.
“Peace of mind,” she said, “Not having my life threatened every fucking day,” and then said to herself, “And ultimate power,” and finally added, “A normal balance of good and evil.”
Leo nodded, “May we have time to discuss this over and if we decide to go through with it, make plans?”
“Yes,” Piper and Paige said all at once looking at the Seer.
“Of course,” the Seer said nodding her head and then added, “But don’t take too long,” she told them and quickly flashed away.
Paige looked at the cup the Seer had been drinking out of, “She didn’t even touch her coffee.”
“That bitch,” Piper yelled before she thought.
Leo raised an eyebrow, “Why so upset?”
“No reason,” Piper said reaching for the glass only for Leo to snatch it.
“Well,” he said, “No reason to let good coffee go to waste,” and put it to his lips.
“No,” Piper yelled and smacked it from his hand causing it to shatter on the floor.
“What the hell,” he shouted.
Piper looked for something to clean it up with it, “It’s gross to drink after other people, especially evil demons from hell.”
Paige snorted, “What did you do? Put rat poison in it?”
“How did you,” Piper started and then realized her mistake.
Leo narrowed his eyes into his ‘I’m not please expression’ and picked up a phone book, “After all this is over I am going to get you a good doctor.”
Pipe rolled her eyes, “I don’t trust her.”
“Neither do I,” Leo said, “But right now she’s the only chance we got of getting your brother back.”
“Do you think we should do it,” Paige asked getting the broom and dustpan.
Piper rubbed her temples, “I don’t know.”
Leo got up and hugged his wife and kissed her on the head, “Whatever you two decide I’ll be right there beside you.”
Piper squeezed him and Paige smiled, “Get the mop woman,” she napped, “I’m not going to clean all this up by myself!”
“Fine,” Piper said and handed Leo the mop, “Help her.”

Phoenix woke up to find him self lying across Phyre’s chest and slowly pulled himself up. He felt something wet on his hands and looked down to see that they were covered in blood. A gasp escaped him as he turned to see Phyre’s head turned to the side with his eyes starring blindly into space.
He looked down to see that he was covered in blood and that blood was spattered all across Phyre’s naked chest where a green blade had been stabbed right into his heart. Phoenix grabbed the blade and pulled only for his hand to slip and he reached to grab and finally pulled it out screaming, “Kal, wake up!”
He shook him and finally slapped him in the face, “Wake up damn you!”
Tears were stinging his eyes as he pulled Phyre’s body up into his arms and started rocking, “You said you would never leave me!”
He held him close and screamed as everything went red.
