Chapter 14
A/N: Serious amounts of spoilers for the Gold Ranger story Arc
=============================================
“Which was what we were just discussing,” Rocky said, and sighed. “We want to go after Billy, but . . .”
“All we know is that he’s on some planet, or at least, was on some planet called Ardaxia, and that was at least a year ago, so we aren’t really sure if he’s still there or what,” Aisha said.
“And on top of that, we don’t have any idea on how to get there. We may still have our powers, but we don’t have any Zords to go with them,” Kimberly sighed.
“I believe, Rangers, I can help you with that!” The robot all but giggled, and the others stared at him.
“Then, you know where there are Zords!?” Kimberly asked, excited, but Alpha shook his metallic head.
“Not Zords exactly, no,” he said, and the others looked disappointed. “But Billy was working on a special project before he became distracted with other matters and the battles started to escalate. At least, he was until he got sick and had to leave.”
The other Rangers smiled as Tommy nodded. “I remember he was working on something around the time Trey surfaced as Gold Ranger.”
“And I remember that we thought for a while that Billy was Gold Ranger, because every time he disappeared, it coincided with Gold Ranger helping us out,” Adam added, also smiling.
“But it wasn’t?” Kimberly asked, and Adam shook his head.
“No. It was a guy, or rather three of the same guy, named Trey. But after that, things started to get really crazy, and we never discovered what, exactly, it was Billy’d been working on.”
“The project, was it you?” Zack asked as he gazed over at Alpha, and the robot shook his head.
“I will show you what it was,” they could almost hear the robot’s grin, and he turned away. For a moment they stood still, but Alpha waved them forward. “Come on. Come on.”
They looked at one another, shrugged, and followed the tall, gleaming robot out a door in the very back of the room, down several corridors, and to an elevator. Silently, they entered, and for what seemed a very long time went down.
“Alpha, can’t you even give us a hint of what you’re going to show us?” Zack asked, unable to stay quiet, and the tall robot actually giggled.
“I could, but then it’d spoil the surprise, and I just know you’re going to like this. Billy designed them, and then built them . . .” his voice dropped, and they knew he was sad. “Well, mostly built them. There are some things that still need to be done, but his illness prevented it from being finished. Then, the changing of the Rangers made them almost useless, as he made them to go specifically with each of you . . .” he looked over at Zack, Jason, Kimberly, and Aisha. “Although, he didn’t plan for you . . .”
“As we were no longer Rangers by then,” Aisha swallowed, hard, and he nodded.
“But prepared for what?” Adam frowned, and suddenly, they all stopped and stared as they entered a very large, almost impossibly large room, and as one, all their mouths fell open at the sight that greeted their eyes.
