Chapter 13

“Ay-yi-yi! Rangers! It really is you!” The robot said, and each and every person knew the voice, even if they didn’t know the robot.

“Alpha!” They exclaimed, and rushed over and hugged the robot, who, after a moment, hugged them back.

“Alpha! What happened to you!?” Jason exclaimed happily.

“You look so . . . different! So . . . tall!” Kimberly stepped back and walked around the robot, and gazed up and down at him, utterly fascinated and obviously ecstatic.

“Where were you!?” Rocky demanded.

“How long were you here!?” Aisha asked as she gazed up at the gleaming robot.

“This place was completely destroyed, and yet here you are! And in one piece!” Zack grinned.

“Yeah, Alpha!” Tommy nodded fervently. “How’d you survive!?”

“And how come we haven’t heard from you before this?” Adam finally asked the one question no one had really dared, and the robot gazed at them, as he grabbed his head with both hands.

“Ay-yi-yi, Rangers,” he all but whined, and the others smiled at each other at the familiar gestures. “One question at a time! You’ll make my circuits melt with so many questions! And these are brand new circuits!”

“Sorry, Alpha,” Tommy apologized sincerely. “But we never expected . . .”

“I know,” Alpha nodded. “I actually didn’t think I’d ever be needed.”

“But, where did you come from?” Kimberly asked. “And you look so . . . different.”

“I was in a stasis chamber deep underground. There are many levels to this place, Rangers, and much of them were unused. Unused that was until Billy . . .”

“Until Billy did some exploring and opened up several of the chambers,” Jason smiled indulgently. “Sounds like him.”

“So, are you saying that Billy built you?” Aisha asked, and the robot shook his head.

“No. Alpha Five built the form. Billy provided the information, and input the life, if you will, of Alpha Five into me. I’m Alpha Omega. The first, and last, of my kind.”

“Wow,” Rocky commented. “But that means you’ve been here for the entire time . . . right through the Zeo, the Turbo, and the Space Rangers.”

“Correct,” Alpha nodded, and Zack tilted his head.

“And no one ever discovered you?”

“Billy was the only Ranger ever to work in here on a permanent basis. The others, yourselves included, were too busy fighting the minions of evil from the outside to need to know more about the Power Chamber than you already did, or more than what was readily visible I should say.”

“Makes sense,“ Adam nodded, though he sighed. “But still, it seems kind of cruel to have left you there for so long all alone.”

“I was in stasis, Adam,” the robot explained, and the others heard the smile in his tone. “The passing of time meant nothing to me. I only woke because the Power Chamber came back to life,” he gazed around. “Well, mostly back to life.”

“I don’t know how much you know,” Tommy said. “But, to make a long story short . . .”

“The chamber has made my memory aware of what’s gone on, from the time I was put in stasis to this very moment, and I tell you, if I had that Prince in my hands, I’d give him what for!” The robot exclaimed angrily. “We need to get Billy back!”
