HOORAY - THE LAST CHAPTER FINALLY. I FINALLY MADE IT, LOL. I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO END THIS STORY. BUT HERE IS THE (short) ENDING. A BIG THANK YOU TO MY FAITHFUL READERS! =) THE ENDING MIGHT BE A BIT „TAWDRY“, BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE IT THOUGH.

The first thing John saw when he woke up again, was Luka's face. He was startled because for a moment he really thought he was in paradise.
„Am I dead? Or is it really you?“ He whispered, still a bit confused. He stretched out his hand and caressed Luka's cheek.
„Dead?! I don't want you to talk that way!“ Luka seemed to be appalled, but he lovingly took John's hand and held it fast. „I'm so happy that you are okay. How could you... with that insane speed. No wonder that your car crashed against a tree. The car is scrap metal now, but fortunately you only had a slight concussion. John, why didn't you take care of yourself?!“
„I followed the ambulance because I wanted to know which hospital... Stop! What happened with you? Are you hurt?“ Suddenly the memories came back and John was worried about his beloved.
„Don't worry about me. I'm fine.“ Luka smiled and pressed John's hand.
„But you...“ John was still confused when he looked into Luka's flawless face. There weren't any injures in it. „They put you into the ambulance. That's why I did follow it. I was so scared that something bad happened to you.“
„Me? In an ambulance? But no, I'm completely uninjured.“ Luka smiled, although he seemed a little confused too.
„But I have seen your shoes... I mean, all I could see from the man on the stretcher were his shoes. They looked like yours and I thought... God Luka, I was sure that car hit you.“
„So have you been worried about me? Does that mean I'm not indifferent to you?“ Luka couldn't suppress a grin.
John could feel how his face reddened. But he didn't want to begin to lie now. „Yes, I realized that I'm still in love with you. Maybe I will always be. I'm so happy that you are uninjured. I can't believe that nothing happened to you though. I was sure I have recognized your black shoes.“
„Ah John, my sweetheart. Before you ask, I love you too. But I have to confess that you don't have any idea about shoes. They were cheap, you know. And pretty confortable. I guess thousands of people have the same shoes. Whoever you saw on that stretcher, it wasn't me. But I saw you getting in this red car. When I heard about the accident, I immediately got the feeling it was you. And I didn't lose any time to find out which hospital you are in.“
John hove a sigh of relief. Now he could believe again that everything would be fine. Destiny had given them a second chance. And this time they wouldn't threw this chance away. He was sure!
„Luka, I have to talk with you. Our separation...“ He began, but Luka put a finger over his lips.
„Shhh, don't worry about that.“
„But I have to tell you something.“ John insisted. „This misunderstanding was a bit embarrasing, but it also made me realize that I still love you very much. If you want... I mean I would try it with you again.“
„What about Samuel?“
„He is a nice guy. I really like him. But he is not the one for me. He will be sad when I leave him, but I'm sure he will understand.“
„That's good. I also want to be together with you again. I can't live without you anymore. I know it sounds gaudy, but it is true. When they will discharge you from the hospital I hope you come back with me to Chicago. Let's have a new start.“
„A new start... That sounds good.“ John smiled and took Luka's hand again. They both suddenly knew everything would be fine between them.
