Ch11: invisible allies
Daniel walked back to the mess hall and sat down with Jack, Sam, Jacob, Martouf, Anise and Teal’c. Anise was digging into a bowl of jello with a smile on her face. Daniel sat down next to her at the end of the table.
“So did I miss much?” Daniel said as he sat down.
“Anise has had her first taste of jello,” Teal’c said with a smile on his face.
“But Marty here hates the taste of it,” Jack gave a little glare at Martouf. “How can you not like jello!?” Jack squaled.
“I am sorry if I have offended you colonel, but I just do not like the taste. But I do like this choc chip I-scream,” Martouf replied, digging into his ice-cream.
“It’s called ice.. cream,” Jacob corrected him.
Sam smiled because Martouf looked like a little kid while scoffing the ice-cream.
“So, any updates on Nat?” Jack asked Daniel. Jack noticed that Daniel didn’t seem as confused as he did before. Daniel told them about his hopes that Nat is fighting Amounet.
“We’ll head back to the Tok’ra base and come back in two days for Natalie,” Jacob replied.
“WHA!? WHY are you taking nat?” Jack squealed. He plonked his spoon down on the table.
“We want to try out a new-“ Anise began but was cut off by Jack.
“NO! No more experiments! Last time u gave us those arm bands that almost got us killed! No more experiments!” Jack complained. Jacob re-asured Jack that Anise has been working on an updated device to remove the Goul’d.
“Dan, what do you think Nat would want?” Sam asked Dan.
Dan shrugged “Nat would probably want to do the same as what the rest of us would do.”
“And what’s that?” Sam asked.
“Whatever possible to be free,” Daniel replied.
* * * *
“Amaunet.”
Amaunet/Natalie sat up in the bed and looked around the cell but didn’t see anyone there.
“Who’s there? Show yourself!” Amaunet said angrily.
“That I cannot. The ‘Tauri shall see. But I shall tell you who I am. It is I, Nerti.”
Amaunet got up from the bed and walked upto the bars, unsure where to look. “Nerti? Free me!”
“In time.. But first I want to make a deal.” The invisible voice said.
“I seem to be making a lot of those lately. What do you want?” Amaunet asked.
“I can free you, but in return I want you to give me all the knowledge you gained from your new host,” Nerti explained.
“And why would you want my new knowledge?”
“I heard everything your host said about arriving from the future. I have been hiding myself here for weeks. Ever since they destroyed my army. I have been waiting for the opportune moment to destroy them,” Nerti explained.
“Let me guess, this is the opportune moment,” Amaunet finished Nerti’s sentence. “Agreed. Once you get me out of here, THEN I will provide you with the knowledge of my host,” Amaunet explained.
“Agreed. I will let you know when it is the opportune moment to free you.” And with that Amaunet was left in silence.

[Dec 29th 2002: Tonight Jacob and Matrouf are going to come and get Nat to take her back to the Tok’ra home world. I asked Jacob if I could go with them, but Jacob said that I didn’t have to be there. Honestly, I want to go for two reasons. The first is to support and be there for Nat. The second is because I feel like I want to be with her more than with Sha’re. Today Hammond let me take Sha’re outside of the base. I took her to the park, showed her my apartment, etc. I felt like I couldn’t talk to her today because I feel bad for not loving her like I should anymore. I think she noticed my quietneI trI tried to talk to Nat again today. Even though she didn’t show any sign of it like last time, I know she’s still fighting Amaunet. I just hope this new technology that Anise has been working on will help free Nat. Janet thinks that even if we can free Nat from Amaunet, she could suffer from post traumatic stress, even if she’s only been a host for a couple days. Sha’re seems to be doing alright after being a host for over a year. I heard her having nightmares last night in the VIP room. I stayed by her side all night and I I realised something. I think ive realised that my relationship with Sha’re is over. But she will always be an important person in my life.]
Daniel closed his journal when he heard someone entering his study. It was Sha’re.
“Sha’re.”
“Daniel. Jack asked me to tell you that Jacob will be arriving soon. Also, I wanted to talk to you,” Sha’re said as she sat down next to Daniel. Daniel didn’t say a word. He looked down at his journal. Sha’re held Daniel’s chin with her fingers and turned his face so that he looked right at her.
“I always kept hope that you would come and find me. I wished for the day that I would be free and that we could be together again. But since I got here, you had that same look on your face like you did when you saw I was pregnant. I know that must have been a hard thing to see, but now I am free, I need to know if you still love me Daniel. If you don’t, I am to return back to Abydos. I have no place here unless it is with you.” Sha’re put her hand on Daniel’s. Her face pleaded with him.
Daniel didn’t know what to say. He intwined his fingers with Sha’res and looked at her.
“Sha’re. You will always be important to me. I love you, but not in that way anymore. I’m sorry that I couldn’t save you last time and I’m sorry our marriage had to turn out this way,” Daniel said. He watched as Sha’res eyes became teary and his chest hurt as he watched her cry. Daniel put his arms around Sha’re and he kissed her forehead. They hugged for what seemed like hours until Sam knocked on the door.
“The Tok’ra are here.”

Nat was handcuffed and led to the gate room by Teal’c and Jack, who were each holding one of her arms. Jacob and Martouf were already waiting with the gate already dialed. Armed guards stood along the wall, like a firing squad with their guns pointed at Nat. The rest of Sg-1, along with General Hammond and Sha’re stood next to the ramp. Amaunet saw Daniel standing by Sha’re with one arm around her shoulder and smiled.
“So you finally got the girl, Daniel Jackson,” Amaunet said, smiling. Martouf and Jacob took Amaunet/Nat from Jack and Teal’c and made their way up the ramp. Suddenly Jack and Teal’c were thrown across the room. They hit the wall and fell to the floor. Sam grabbed her gun but had no idea where to point it. A female laugh could me heard. Nerti uncloacked in the middle of the ramp, blocking the path for Jacob and Martouf to take Nat through the gate. Nerti held up her hand device and threw Sam against the wall. Sam was knocked unconscious as she fell to the floor.
Amaunet caught Jacob and Martouf offguard when she kicked in the back of Martouf’s knees, causing him to fall to the ground. She turned and kicked Jacob in the chest. Then, quickly turned back around and kicked Martouf in the stomach. Both Tok’ra were now unconscious and Amaunet began running back down the ramp towards Daniel and Sha’re. Hammond ordered the guards to fire on Nerti but Nerti put her personal shields up before any bullets could get her. She continued to knock out the guards with her ribbon device as Amaunet ran upto Daniel and Sha’re.
“Sorry Dearie, but I’ll take what’s mine now,” Amaunet said to Daniel. Daniel tried to throw a punch, but Amaunet ducked and threw an uppercut into Daniel’s stomach. Dan bent over in pain. Amaunet grabbed his shoulders 4 suport as she kneed Daniel in the groin. He bowled over in pain and felt useless as Amaunet grabbed Sha’re, pulling her up the ramp. Amaunet held Sha’re in a headlock from behind, using her as a human shield.
“Come Amaunet,” Nerti commanded then dissapeared through the gate. Amaunet watched Nerti pass through the gate and smiled. She contined to hold onto Sha’re as she backed up until she was a foot away from the gate. The few guards that were left, along with General Hammond, stood and watched because they didn’t have a clean shot at Amaunet. Daniel began to feel well enough to stand up.
“Let her go Amaunet!” Daniel yelled.
Amaunet/Nat smiled. “Which one? Your wife Sha’re or your new girlfriend Natalie?” Amaunet smiled wickedy. Daniel saw the hurt on Sha’res face as Amaunet said the word ‘girlfriend.’ Amaunet put her lips on the back of Sha’res neck. “You’ll find out everything soon enough,” Amaunet whispered. Sha’re felt like her neck was on fire as Amaunet jumped out of Nat’s mouth and into Sha’res neck. Nat dropped to the floor, unconscious. Sha’res eyes glowed and she smiled. She blew a kiss at Daniel and ran through the gate.
