Chapter 11 : Realization
3 Months Later...
Jan and Kara both woke up, sat back against the headboard and looked at eachother at exactly the same time. Jan smiled at her and kissed her. "Good morning, honey." Jan said as he caressed the surface of his fiancée's tummy. "Morning, Jan." Kara said with a smile.
It was early in the morning, since they would have to work at the coffee shop today. Kara kissed her fiancé and then supersped them toward the shower. Hands cupped ass cheeks as they heavily kissed, their tongues rubbing, passionately kissing under the shower. They washed eachother's bodies after they had pulled away. Kara had removed her expensive engagement ring, having kept the ring a secret from her friends and loved ones. Now she had finally decided to wear it proudly. She wanted everyone to know that she was betrothed. They got out of the shower and put their clothes on, Kara finally slipping the expensive engagement ring around her ringfinger again, ready for the day.
Jan put his cellphone in his pocket, in case somebody would like to call him. It had been fully recharged the night before. He remembered how nervous he had been proposing to her so many months ago. She had accepted!! He was so happy, nobody would take this happiness away from them... or would one person? Someone like Lex Luthor? He shuddered at the rememberance of meeting Lex at his mom's coffee shop in Detroit. How he had treated him.
Jan and Kara went downstairs after together brushing their teeth, where they went to work. From serving schoolboys and schoolgirls to serving business men. Clark walked into the Talon and smiled, seeing his cousin so happy with Jan. Then he noticed something odd. Luckily, everyone else had been served, so the couple wasn't busy.
"Kara, what's that around your finger?" Clark asked his cousin as he sat on the barstool at the counter. "This?" Kara asked, grinning while showing it to Clark. "Jan proposed to me 3 months ago. I accepted, but I hadn't wanted to wear it until today." Kara said, her face beaming of happiness.
"Wow. Congratulations, you two!" Clark said, smiling his trademark Clark Kent smile.
"Thanks, Clark." Jan said to Clark, smiling as well. Just that moment Jan got a call on his cellphone. "Oh my, I haven't talked to Sven in years!" Jan said, as he walked off to take the call.
"Sven, buddy! How have you been?" Jan asked his highschool friend.
"Jan, dude! Finally! I thought I'd never get you on the phone. I've been doing great. What about you, though?"
"I'm engaged." Jan said.
"NO WAY!"
"YES WAY!" Jan said laughing. "We haven't arranged anything yet. Oh, by the way, I'm in Smallville right now. My mom is here too."
"Well, that's a coïncidence! I'm in Smallville on business!" Sven said.
"Wow, have you come across the coffeehouse the Talon yet? It's where I work and where I live with my girl." Jan told his friend.
"I'm just walking towards it now." Sven said as he disconnected and opened the door.
Jan slipped his cellphone back into his pocket and beamed. "Sven, you're here!" Jan said as Sven ran in and hugged his friend. "Long time no see, stranger!" Sven exclaimed as he looked at the counter and whistled. "That's one fine lady you have found, and dang, that's a mighty expensive ring!" Jan chuckled. "Yeah, pulled out all my savings." Jan said with a laugh.
Just then Lois entered the establishment. "Smallville! There you are! We are going to have to visit Chloe, your girlfriend, at the Daily Planet. She's asking for you." Lois said as she walked toward him. Then she noticed Sven. "Oh, hey..." Lois cocked an eyebrow. "Do I know you?"
"'Fraid not. Hi, I'm a friend of Jan's, my name is Sven." Sven said with a grin as he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, Sven." Lois said, smiling, and then she saw Kara. "Hey Kara. You're practically glowing." Lois said as she hugged her. "That's because I am engaged, Lois." Kara said and showed her her engagement ring. "You and Jan, huh? CONGRATULATIONS!" Lois exclaimed and hugged both of them!
Kara smiled and wanted to say something, when she frowned. "Excuse me." She managed to get out and ran, normally, towards the restroom. She barely reached the cubicle when she threw up!! Luckily it fell straight into the toilet and not all over the toilet.
She leaned against the wall, holding her stomach. What does this mean? Does this mean I'm... pregnant? Kara thought. Kara flushed the toilet. She then reached for a paper towel and dabbed clean her face. Kara then walked back toward her fiancé and the others. Kara tapped him on the back after he had made some coffee for Clark, Lois and Sven. "Can I talk to you for a second? In private?" Kara asked as she looked at her fiancé. "No worries, I'll happily take over for just a bit, say like 10 minutes. Five, maybe." Clark said. He remembered the lessons Lana had taught him when he had filled in one time.
Jan and Kara walked outside to the back alley and Kara leaned against the door. "Kara, honey, what's wrong?" Jan asked as he looked at her. Kara looked into his eyes, debating whether or not she should lie to her fiancé or not. Telling the truth prevailed over lying... "Jan... I just threw up." She bit her bottom lip. "I think I'm pregnant."
