Chapter 11

Green

Flora Winters

I do not own Smallville

Summary: Something bad is going down in the small town of Smallville and it’s all Lex’s fault. He has always been too curious for his own good. If only he had not tripped and fallen that day while snooping around the Kent farm when the elder Kent’s were out of town and Clark was at school.

Chapter 11

The Goddess Kryptonia speaks:

Imagine a world where the sunsets would last for hours with amazing vibrant colors that one could not even imagine how to describe with language. A moon so close it takes up most of the sky as it plays in the heavens. A world of ice where even the mighty ocean waves are frozen in place. This is our world, our Krypton.

We are Kryptonia. The supreme Deity of Krypton. No other is our equal and all pale in power and beauty before us. Our power was absolute and those that did not bow to our will were dead before they ever hit the ground. We were not a cold, unfeeling Goddess. In fact, we were quite loving and quick to defend those that were just in our eyes.

This was when a certain man caught our eye. We looked down from our lofty height to see the most beautiful man we have ever laid eyes on crying at the base of our altar. This man was exquisite and pleasant to look upon. He begged for us to spare him the fate of being the next heir to the throne in the royal house of El. He did not want to go to Earth to undergo his right of passage. This beautiful man just wanted to be free and live his life as he chose not what his father dictated it to be. His crystal clear tears moved us and we decided that he must undergo this trial for we would make him the greatest ruler the house of El had ever known.

We stood from our throne and descended down through the celestial spheres to stand before him in the form of a mortal. For our true form is beautiful and terrible to behold. Our beauty would make a mans eyes bleed and his breath to freeze in his lungs. Women would shrivel and age in our very presence into crones before their time.

We sat before him in the image of a woman he desired the most, and when he looked upon us we knew we loved him. We smiled at him and he had this shocked expression on his face. He asked us why were we sitting on the Goddess’s altar. We laughed at him and the beautiful man looked around and told us to get down before someone saw which only made us laugh harder.

He looked at us confused and asked why it was we laughed. We told him that we were Kryptonia and his mouth fell open in shock. He told us that it was not funny to joke about such things and that it was dangerous to wear the color of the Goddess unless you were royalty. We smiled when he told us that it meant death to even have the same hair color as the Goddess. That was when we stood before him in a flash, “Tell us Jor-El son of the house of El. Why do you not wish to be ruler?”

He looked taken back and then he looked into our emerald depths and saw the truth falling to his knees hiding his face, “Goddess.”

“Do not hide your face from us Jor-El for you are beautiful in our eyes,” we told him and watched him slowly raise his head to look at us.

“Goddess,” he stuttered, “I don’t want this burden. I only wish to be free.”

We knelt down before him and he looked very taken back, “Goddess, I am not worthy of you being on your knees like this.”

We took his golden hands in ours, “We will make you great Jor-El,” we told him, “We shall make you the greatest ruler the house of El has ever known.”

We saw the look in his eyes. It was the look of how badly he wanted to please his father and he trembled like a child, “What is it you ask for in return, Goddess?”

We held his big golden hand to our cheek and kissed his palm tenderly sending delightful shivers down his spine, “All we ask for in return Jor-El is that you learn to love us.”

We saw the desire he had for our body in the way he looked at us. We were beautiful for we were everything he desired in a woman made manifest. We showed him wonders that dazzled his eyes, and his love for us grew. We would come to him in his dreams and in the flesh. We made him ready for the day his father would send him to Earth.

The night before he had to leave it was he who came to us. He chased us through the frozen courtyard until we allowed him to catch us in the maze of ice crystals. He pulled us close and drunk from our lips as if we were a chalice filled with sweet nectar to quench his thirst.

He made love to us on my ice altar in the center of crystal maze. His touch and caresses were gentle and filled with deep reverence. He mumbled and whimpered our name over and over as he moved above us. He trembled and cried out our holy name as his hot seed filled us which made us glow softly in his golden arms. We breathed in his scent pulling his head down to rest upon our breast, and he fell asleep like that.

We held him like that until light began to fill the sky and we told him that it was time. We gave him a mystical crystal in which to draw strength from us when he needed it. He kissed us and we sent him with our blessing.

A year passed and during that year he had only called upon us twice. Those two times frightened us for we had no idea what harm he could be in. The day he returned he came to us. We appeared to him in an ice cavern and he wept in our arms at the horrors and the pain of loss he had went through. He told us of the mortal woman he had fallen in love with and her tragic death by a jealous man. He told us that he would never love again and we asked him about us in which he replied that we were not mortal, he would never lose us.

Years passed and Jor-El became a great soldier, and a great general until finally he became ruler of the house of El. Huge celebrations took place with great feasts and entertainment of the highest quality. Offerings were made in our name and our altars were full of gifts. We were so pleased with our kind, loving, beautiful Jor-El.

As time went by he began to change as all mortals do. With great power comes the lust for more. We should have seen this coming but we were blinded by our love for him. Its kind of funny now that we think about it. Love blinding us, a God? We guess love really is the one thing a God can’t control or fight, but don’t tell the others we told you this. They might get upset and start smiting things. Children really.

Now where were we, oh yes. He asked us to be his bride and for the first time in forever we were stuck dumb. We felt like a silly little mortal who was about to blush and cry. We are Kryptonia. We are the supreme Goddess of Krypton. We said yes, of course.

His parents were more than a bit shocked when he told them that he had been with us for years. He introduced us as Toni which made us laugh. His father was awed by our beauty and his mother was more than pleased that he found someone so beautiful and kind. We blessed her with a long life and good health.

Our bonding ceremony had been beautiful from a mortal point of view. Just to be us we made emerald lights play in the night sky when the ceremony was completed. All the people took this as a sign that their Goddess was pleased, and she really was, until that night two years later when we caught him in bed with another woman.

The minute our eyes gazed upon this wretched creature emerald fire split the skies and the frozen seas began to melt and boil. Our wrath was great and most terrible to behold, just like our true beauty. We kept ourselves from him for days until our rage was just a deadly simmer. He cried out to us, telling us that he needed an heir. He cried that we could not give him one seeing as how our immortal body rejected his seed. Tears filled our eyes and for the first time, it rained on Krypton.

We stood upon the vast boiling sea letting the lightning dance in our palms playing along our skin. Waves would swell and billow around us as we fought to keep our pain under control. Little did we know that Jor-El was in awe of the events taking place and coveted out power more and more.

We could kill him. We could torture him. We could make him endure our cold, and we could make him endure our heat. In the end our heart ruled us. We loved him to much to harm him. He was our Jor-El and he always would be. We looked over the vast space between us and all of nature was silent and frozen.

Jor-El awoke when we appeared next to him on the great bed. He looked at us tenderly and pulled us close to his hard muscled chest. We wrapped our arms around him and told him that we forgive him and that we loved him. He pulled away and smirked as we felt something sharp stab us in the back.

We felt stunned because it was an odd sensation. It was a feeling we had never felt before. It stung, it hurt, it pained us. We could feel our essence being drained. He looked at us coldly, “Forgive me Toni, but I need your power.”

The crystal! He had used our power against us. We looked at him unbelievingly that he would do such a thing to us and our heart shattered. His smile tore us apart. We screamed and tried to pull away but the crystal drained our strength until finally we were banging against a crystal wall. He pulled out the crystal we were now sealed in and kissed our shell as it slowly crumbled to dust.

Our screams of rage, pain, horror, sadness echoed all around us and it was not pretty. We fell to our face in our crystal prison and wept. Our heart had betrayed us. We were trapped.

Jor-El drew power from us through the crystal to rule over all of Krypton with an iron fist. Everyone thought that the sudden death of his bride was tragic but he quickly recovered. He wore us around his neck like a trophy. He sat himself up as a God and raged war to bring all under his rule.

With us trapped, Krypton began to fall unstable. We refused and fought Jor-El when he tried to take power from us through the crystal. That last thing we remember was the screams and the darkness that took us. Our heart had betrayed us and in doing so destroyed our world.

Clark felt a tear slide down his cheek when she finished her story. He felt terrible for her and wanted to comfort her, but was afraid to do so. All he could say was, “I’m sorry.”

She smiled over at him, “We would like to be alone now,” she told him, “Lex Luthor will be with you tomorrow Kal-El.”

Clark nodded slowly and got to his feet, “Thank you for telling me Kryptonia even though it must have been very painful.”

She nodded and watched him walk to the door and called, “Kal-El?”

He stopped at the door and turned around asking, “Yeah?”

She looked down at his bare golden feet, “We should hate you, Kal-El.”

“Why,” he asked confused, “I never did anything to you.”

She looked up at him as a tear slid from the corner of a luminous emerald orb which made him want to go to her and froze when she said, “Because you were the one gift we could not give him.”
