ch 11

A couple of hours later, Sara left a sleeping Grissom and quietly dressed. He woke up to find a cold spot where she once lay. She was just putting on her coat when he found her.

"Sara, please don't go." He croaked the words out.

She turned back around to look at him. What did he just say?

"Please." He begged. He took her hand and led her to the couch. She let herself be lead. He touched her face and looked into her eyes. "Sara, there is something you need to know."

“What's that?" Sara was almost afraid to ask. She was afraid of being hurt again, but she made herself make eye contact.

"I never stopped loving you."

Now it was Sara's turn to adopt the deer caught in the headlights expression. She stammered, "Can you repeat that?"

"I said I still love you. I always have, since Boston, for the last eight years. Always"

Sara gently leaned her forehead against Grissom's. "I love you too," she whispered.

"What now?" He asked not wanting to really know her answer; he was scared she was going to run.

"Do you want this, Grissom?"

He countered her question, "Do you?"

She gave him a smile. "I asked you first, Doctor."

"I think I do. No wait, I know I do."

Sara caressed his cheek. "Sure?"

"Never been more sure of anything in my life." He brushed her lips softly with his.

Sara's lips tingled with the kiss. Her eyes were still closed when the kiss broke. Then she remembered herself. "I should get going."

"You are still leaving? I thought we understood this? That you wanted me?" His voice echoed with hurt.

“We do, Griss. I just thought you might want to get some sleep or something before the shift."

"Come back to bed with me, please." He grabbed her coat to remove it from her shoulders.

The bold move startled Sara for a moment. This was very much unlike her Grissom. *Her* Grissom? Since when?

“Sara, don't make me beg."

A small smile played on her lips. "I don't know, Doc, that might be amusing to see..."

"You'd enjoy that wouldn't you.” A smile encased his face. “ Now come on, my bed is getting cold."

“Poor baby," Sara murmured soothingly, but this time she let Grissom take her hand.

He led her to the bedroom. "Are you going to sleep in your jeans?"

“Wouldn't you like to know?" Sara was grinning again as she went into the bathroom and closed the door to remove her jeans and her T-shirt. He had the bed opened and waiting for her when she returned. Sara would have paid to see his reaction on camera when she emerged in her panties and undershirt.

"You know you could catch flies with your mouth open like that."

He was breathless. "It’s just....just.....you are so beautiful." Sara leaned over to kiss his forehead before she slid under the covers again. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her against his chest. He could smell her hair. It was still a mess from earlier. Sara's eyes closed. She sighed in contentment as she heard the steady beating of Grissom's heart. He drifted off to sleep holding Sara in his arms. He never wanted to get out of bed again.

“I love you," Sara murmured to him before she fell asleep.

"I love you more than you will ever know." He spoke into her hair, but he was sure she understood what he had said.

“Get some sleep, Bugman," she murmured as she smiled sleepily.

"I will my love." He lethargically replied.
