Chapter Nine
Chloe felt really bad for the way she had treated Clark. He had brought her flowers and a puppy face that made her want to forgive him on the spot. He had looked so sad and sorry when he apologized for his behavior at his apartment in Metropolis. She had not even said a word to him. She just sniffed and went back to working on her article. When she turned back around he was gone, but the flowers were in a vase full of water. Sometimes she really wondered how the hell he was able to do stuff like that.
She parked her car in the Kent drive and got out to hear voices coming from the barn. The door to the barn was closed. The door to the barn was never closed. She cocked an eyebrow and wondered who Clark was talking to. She opened the side and door and called, “Clark?”
“Chloe,” Clark said looking really surprised to see her as she walked in looking around at the work he had been doing.
“I came by to,” she started and then she couldn’t help but ask, “What the hell are you doing?”
“I’m making it so that the sun can’t shine into the barn for awhile,” he said hoping she wouldn’t ask further questions even though the look on her face read no such luck Kent.
“Why,” she asked thinking she might have traumatized him by not speaking to him earlier.
“For me,” a deep voice said from above and she looked up to see the most beautiful man she had ever seen in her life walking down the steps. He had on a tight pair of faded jeans and a tight black muscle shirt that showed off his tall, lean muscular frame. His eyes were a strange turquoise color and his hair was long and red.
Clark could not believe his eyes. Ronan was beyond beautiful and yet now he looked so…human.
Chloe realized that her mouth was standing wide open and she quickly closed it. She had thought Lana beautiful, but this young man made her pale in everything.
He stopped on the bottom step and gave her a dazzling smile. She felt her heart begin to beat a million miles an hour and that only happened when Clark touched her. This man was just smiling at her.
He skin was like smooth ivory and not a freckle on him. Aren’t red heads supposed to have freckles? God he was beautiful.
“I’m Ronan,” he said as he reached out a beautifully shaped pale hand and she noticed the Irish accent, “I’m staying here until the Kent’s have to move and Clark is keeping the sun out because I tend to suffer from terrible migraines.”
Clark could not believe how fucking human he looked. The magic was still there but it was hidden. The glow to his skin was gone but it was still beyond beautiful. What had he done to himself?
Chloe took his hand and it was strong yet gentle grip. It was like he was controlling his strength so he would not hurt her. It felt smooth and soft as velvet as she shook it.
She released his hand and Clark suddenly cleared his throat, “Why brings you by?”
“Right,” Chloe said forcing herself to turn away from the God before her to face another God, “I came to tell you that I forgive you for being an ass hat and that I’m sorry for being a bitch to you earlier, even though you had it coming.”
Ronan winked at Clark and he just smiled as he walked over and hugged her, “Thanks Chloe.”
“What can I say,” she asked as she squeezed him tight, “The puppy eyes get me every time.”
“My secret weapon,” Clark laughed evilly, “None can resist it.”
Chloe smacked his shoulder playfully and he rubbed it, “Now,” she said turning back to Desire in farm clothes, “How did you meet Ronan?”
“We became “friends” while I was in Metropolis,” Clark told her and Chloe being Chloe caught the hesitant emphasis on friends and almost died right there.
Ronan stepped down off the steps and she noticed for the first time that he was barefoot. His feet were shapely and looked whiter than snow. He stood a few feet from Clark and they looked to be about the same height, only Ronan was a little smaller in build than Clark. The contrast between the two of them was striking. Clark was light and golden to where Ronan was shadow and moonbeams.
Chloe smirked to herself. Lana was going to die, hopefully not literally, but she was overdue for a stalker or a good kidnapping. She looked at all the tarps nailed around the walls and ceiling and muttered, “Those must be some migraines.”
Ronan smiled and she almost swooned, “They can make me quite vicious.”
Chloe suddenly pulled the cross she was wearing from her neck and tossed it at him. He caught it and looked it over in his hand smiling at her, “Very pretty.”
Clark almost had a heart attack right then and there on the spot, “Chloe!”
She walked over and looked at his palm and saw that it was still perfect and smooth. She blushed, “Sorry.”
Ronan howled with laughter even thought this hurt him deep down inside. He had no idea why this hurt him but it did. This girl was obviously very intelligent if she thought he was a vampire. He dropped the cross into her hand, “I like vampires to.”
Chloe laughed nervously. She had no idea why she suddenly did that. He was beautiful, perfect, pale, didn’t like sunlight. Connect the dots!
“I’m sorry,” she said once more, “Its just that Smallville is a strange place.”
Ronan nodded in understanding, “Clark has told me some very interesting tales.”
Really,” Chloe asked, “Pillow talk?”
“Chloe,” Clark shouted as his head exploded into blue, yellow, and red glitter. He reached out to gently throttle the teeth out of her head when he was stopped by Ronan who snorted and then grabbed his stomach in laughter.
Both looked at him and then started to laugh along with him. Chloe looked down at her watch and realized that it was going on nine. She needed to get back to her paper. She told Clark they would talk later and she shook that beautiful hand once more and left.
Clark looked at Ronan and asked, “Migraines?”
-----------------------------------------------------
It would only be just a matter of time now until his plan would be set into motion. He was going to make Ronan pay for stabbing his stomach. What the Dark Queen didn’t know sure as hell wouldn’t hurt him.
Soon his ritual would be complete and he would make that little bitch pay. He was going to make him pay dearly.
----------------------------------------------------
That morning Clark was shocked and beyond happy when saw his friend get out of his Car, “Clark!”
“Lex,” Clark shouted as he ran up to hug his friend, “I thought you were dead.”
Lex smiled brightly as he returned the hug, “Well, I’m no ghost.”
Clark laughed, “I can see that.”
“Lex,” Jonathan said as he walked out of the house with some more things to put in the moving truck, “You’re alive.”
Lex wanted nothing more than to say “boo” to him and watch him jump, “I came to see Clark and you as well Mr. Kent.”
Jonathan raised an eyebrow when Lex walked over and handed him a document. Jonathan opened it up and saw that is was the deed to the farm. He looked at Lex who said, “It’s in your name.”
“I can’t accept this,” Jonathan said looking at the document.
“Please,” Lex said as he held out the compass Mr. Kent and Mrs. Kent had given him as a wedding gift, “Your gift saved me, let me do the same?”
Martha who heard the whole thing from the door stepped down to put a hand on Jonathan’s back, “Would you like some tea Lex?”
Lex smiled warmly at her and Mr. Kent extended his hand, “Thank you Lex.”
Lex shook his hand smiling not being able to say anything. He did this more for Clark than for anything or anyone else. Clark meant everything to him and it took almost dying to realize it.
“I have to be going Mrs. Kent,” Lex said warmly as Mr. Kent released his hand, “I have to go slay a long haired, long bearded dragon.”
Clark snorted and Martha laughed, “Thank you for this gift Lex.”
“I,” Lex began only to realize there was nothing he could say. Jonathan now realized that Lex really was helping them and put a hand on his shoulder. They had found even ground to walk on.
“Come to dinner whenever you are free,” Martha offered, “We always have room for more.”
Lex smiled, “I would love that.”
Jonathan gave him a real smile for the first time and Lex thought he would die. Jonathan Kent just gave him a real fucking smile. He nodded and Clark walked him to his car, “I’m glad you’re not dead Lex.”
Lex laughed, “How touching.”
“Hey,” Clark pouted while punching him playfully on the shoulder, “Where would Smallville be without its resident megalomaniac?”
Lex’s eyes widened in mock fury and his nostrils flared, “Megalomaniac?”
“Uh-huh,” Clark said, “You heard me.”
“Good day Mr. Kent,” Lex said as he got into his car closing the door harshly.
Clark stood there and pecked on the window. Lex pushed a little silver button and the windows rolled down for him to shout in a horrible English accent, “I said good day sir!”
Both just looked at each other and Clark was the first to snort, “It’s good to have you home.”
Lex turned on his engine and gave Clark another unguarded smile. He felt so free and un-judged when he was with Clark. He felt like he could do anything.
“Come over whenever you get the urge Clark,” Lex told him, “My doors are always open.”
Clark moved away from the car, “You bet.”
Lex nodded and the window rolled up as techno blasted. Clark shook his head as he watched Lex spin out of there like a maniac.
--------------------------------------------------
Ronan was laying on the sofa asleep when Clark made his way up playing quieter than a mouse. He froze when he saw that Ronan was topless. His perfect chest was pale as porcelain and glowed with an inner light like the rest of him did.
His supernatural beauty was back and it was blinding. Clark wanted to fall down on his knees and worship this sleeping beauty.
Ronan’s eyes fluttered open and glowing aqua orbs looked at Clark lazily. Clark knelt down next to him and Ronan smiled, “You look genuinely happy. What’s changed?”
“Lex,” Clark said, “He saved the farm. We don’t have to move now.”
“Your friend is alive,” Ronan asked, “That’s good news.”
“I can’t wait for you to meet him,” Clark said happily, “He’s really alive.”
Ronan smiled and Clark pushed on his smooth rock hard chest, “Move so I can squeeze in.”
Ronan closed his eyes and began to snore and Clark laughed, “Jerk.”
Ronan opened one eye and then grinned, “Okay.”
He moved over and Clark lied down next to him. Ronan put an arm around his waist and pulled him close, “Your parents must be relieved.”
“They are,” Clark said as he yawned loudly, “I’m sleepy.”
Ronan closed his eyes and breathed in Clark’s sweet scent, “Goodnight Clark.”
Clark could smell the jasmine and felt him self get lost in it as sleep took him, “Night Leannan.”
Ronan opened both eyes to gaze into Clark’s sleeping face to see Leif staring back at him. He blinked and saw only Clark. He let out a long sweet breath and fell back into a dreamless sleep listening to the even beats of Clark’s heart. Clark was doing the same with him.
