Chapter 10
Chapter 10…
The next day had seen Justin with a goofy smile that would not go away. The young blond also remained standing most of the day thru his classes and moving very carefully. They had fallen asleep at 4:00 am that morning so they both had been understandably tired.
It was the last night for them in Rome. They had an early morning flight to Florence in the morning.
Brian smiled as he stood outside the Piazza were Justin had his last lessons. He held a single perfect white rose between his fingers. His eyes followed the rose as it spun between his fingers. His smile was gentle and his eyes were warm with tenderness as he remembered the night before.
Like the sound of silence calling
I hear your voice and
Suddenly I am falling
Lost in a dream
The sweat had cooled on their body from their lovemaking and it had truly been lovemaking, so slow and gentle. Brian had lain on his back and Justin had curled up to him, laying his head on Brian’s chest. The young man seemed to ponder something.
“Brian, can I ask you something?” Brian murmured his consent and waited for Justin to continue. The older man felt a bit worried why the blond had sounded so hesitant.
Like the echoes of our soul unheeding
You say those words and my heart stops
beating I wonder what it means
What could it be
“I know you dislike the words but I need to say them. OK? I just need to express the words sometimes; I need to make sure that you know.” He raised himself up so he could look Brian in the eyes. His voice was soft and hesitant as he continued with his request, “Would it bother you very much if I sometimes tell you that I love you?”
That comes over me
At times I can’t move
At times I can hardly breathe.
Brian could feel his heart almost stop in his chest at that simple request, the heartfelt emotion of it. He licked his lips and nodded a heart-stopping smile blossoming on his lips.
“I wouldn’t mind, sunshine, if you really need it…” His voice, a teasing tone as he continued with a leer. “ But I think our bodies speak so well. “
When you say you love me
The worlds goes still so still inside
and When you say you love me
For a moment there is no one else alive
That comment earned him a slap on the arm and a laugh.
“Ever the romantic… but seriously Brian.”
Brian arched his head up and lightly kissed the blond leaning over him.
“I won’t mind sunshine…Justin you know that...” a finger over his lips stopped him from forcing himself to continuing that sentence.
“I know, Brian. I know you care deeply for me…no need to say the words until you trust yourself enough and trust in me enough to say it. You show me every day.”
You’re the one
I always thought of
I don’t know how but
I feel sheltered in your love
You’re where I belong
Brian smiled his own version of a sunshine smile, pulled the blond in his arms down and devoured his lips. It seemed to go on forever until Brian broke the kiss and just looked into Justin’s eyes. The blond smiled widely.
“I love you too…”
And when you’re with me
If I close my eyes T
here are times when I
I feel like I can fly
Brian smiled to himself as he looked at the watch on his wrist. Five minutes left until the class gets out. Once again he reflected on the night before.
//It’s not so scary any more that he’s so in tune with me. Now we use it the right way. //
For a moment in time
Somewhere between the heavens and earth
We’re frozen in time
Oh when you say those words
They had made love deep into the night, falling asleep still sweaty. He had awoken sometime before dawn and just held his blond as he slept. Brian marveled at the strength of his lover.
He thought back to Justin stopping him from forcing himself to say the words they both knew he meant. He understood why the blond had stopped him and he was grateful but another part was resentful. He wanted to say it. It just wasn’t so easy.
When you say you love me
The worlds goes still so still inside and
This was the reason he now stood outside the house where Justin lessons were held, waiting for the young man. He had that night decided that he would show him, even if Justin would not let him force the words.
When you say you love me
For a moment there is no one else alive
Justin stood waiting for the teacher to review his work for the day. The final assignment had been a hard one. It was very objective.
“A moment in time.”
That had been the chosen theme for the drawing for the final class and Justin had chosen to draw the night he met Brian - the way they had looked under the glow of the streetlight.
“Justin, let me see…” his teacher stepped around to look at the paper on Justin’s easel. “A self-portrait, very interesting choice in lighting. Can you tell me a bit more…who is the man?”
And this journey that we’re on
How far we come and died
Celebrate every moment
Justin cleared his throat, aware that most of his class was listening.
“I drew the night I met my lover, the first time I truly looked into his eyes. I have imagined this scene from the outside looking in many times, but this is the first time I attempted to draw it. The interesting light and shadow play comes from the fact that we met under a streetlight outside one of the big clubs in the city.”
“It’s a lovely picture Justin and a very good self-portrait. Many young artists have trouble with that task. The lighting gives the picture a dream-like effect and makes it a very compelling piece. I think you should give this to your lover when you are done.”
“Done?” Justin asked.
“Yes… this picture is too good to remain colourless. I think you should consider transferring the picture to a different medium and continue working on it. “
“I will take that into consideration.” Justin smiled at the praise as he watched his teacher walk away. Some of his classmates came over to see his picture and the words from them were just as glowing.
And when you say you love me
That is all you have to say
I’ll always feel this way
Justin truly felt like this day could not get any better. A glowing review of his final assignment in the sketching class and the glow still had not faded from the night before. First there was the great sex and the promise that he had gotten from Brian. Just the knowledge that he could say the words when he wanted was euphoric.
When you say you love me
The world goes still
So still inside and
To know that he could now say the words ‘I love you’ to Brian without the older man running from him. Justin hoped that hearing the words would start healing something that was long ago broken in Brian’s heart. He silently cursed Brian’s parents, wishing all sorts of misery on the two of them.
When you say you love me
For a moment I know why
I am alive
Collecting his things, he packed the drawings that he had made carefully so that they could be sent by mail home if he wanted. Grabbing his backpack he headed outside with the other class, talking to them, exchanging e-mail addresses and promising to keep in touch.
He looked up as the group had stopped and as he spotted the black limo and the beautiful man standing outside it deep in thought. He smiled widely and walked away from the group.
“I guess my ride is here.”
When you say you love me
Brian looked up as he heard the blond’s voice. A smile spread over his lips as he straightened up and walked to meet his lover. He swept the beauty into his arms, stealing a kiss from those tempting lips and ignoring the envious sighs from the girls in the group.
Breaking the kiss he gave the white rose to Justin. A sly smile curled his lips as he looked into those lust-clouded eyes that were filling with happy tears as Justin saw what was in his hand.
“For my Prince…”
When you say you love me
Do you know how I love you?
