On The Way To Heaven

Yvette then heard a knock on her door. She went to open it revealing Spinner.

Spinner- We gatta go babe...
Yvette- Hi you too!
Spinner- Sorry!

He kissed her and smiled

Spinner- Lets go

He grabbed her hand and the started walking. Spinner happily hummed and spoke to her about a TV show he had been watching. Yvette, for her part, wasn't paying attention at all. She was too busy thinking of the night before. She hadn't really yet.

*Night Before*

Craig kissed her pulling her tighter to him. He was pulling off her sweater and all she could do was give in. She didn't want to hide, run, fight him. All she wanted was to feel him near, closer than anyone ever.

Yvette shuddered at the cold air. Spinner, noticing, pulled her closer to him and kept talking. Yvette didn't really notice. As they walked into school her heart raced. Her head repeated Craig's name over and over.

As they walked into the class room Craig turned in his seat to look at her.

His first reaction was to go and hug her. Kiss her. Sit next to her and just be near her. But then reality sank in as everything around her became visible again and Spinner appeared.

Yvette wanted to run to him. Just let him hold her till they tired... which she thought wouldnt happen. But Ashley walked over to Craig bringing her to reality

Craig- Hey Ash
Ash- Hey... what happened yesterday?
Craig- I um... I just went to the nature reserve to take pictures... i guess i lost track of time... my reception was really bad too so i couldn't call.
Ash- Ok... well how about you come over this afternoon?

Craig didn't know what to say. He wanted to say no but he knew there was no way Ashley would be ok with that and seeing Yvette sit down next to Spinner and hold his hand made him say yes.

Yvette- Spinner, can we watch a movie tonight? The new one that just came out?
Spinner- The porn star one or the comic book one?
Yvette- either

Yvette didnt really care about the movie though...

At lunch, while Spinner was at a soccer meeting, Yvette sat alone with Marco at a table outside.

Marco- Wow... so wait... you're still going out with Spinner?

Yvette had just told Marco everything that had happened the night before... and about her being sick. He hadn't freaked but had hugged her and still was.

Yvette- Yeah...

Marco stopped hugging her and held her face in his hands

Marco- You are crazy. You love Craig, he loves you.
Yvette- Marco i dont wanna hurt him
Marco- You aren't going to hurt him unless you pull away from him
Yvette- Marco... hes been through so much... if i get close to him and then... well he'll be so hurt
Marco- I know... Think of it this way. He loves you Vett... if you never give him a chance to love you.... then he'll always live with that... that will hurt him more... let yourself love him

When the bell had rung and Yvette and Marco had hugged and said bye, Yvette walked to class alone

suddenly out of nowhere she heard someone call her

Craig- Vett...

She turned around and saw him.

Yvette- Hi...
Craig- Hey... Are you feeling ok?
Yvette- Im fine Craig... I'll see you later ok? I have to go to class
Craig- No... please Vett... we need to talk...
Yvette- Well you are going to Ashley's today... Im going out today so theres no way today Craig...
Craig- Yvette please...
Yvette- ........ bye Craig... i need to get to class.

She walked off, hating herself.

*later- that evening at home*

Yvette- Thanks Spin

He handed her a coke and sat next to her on her bed.

Spinner- No prob babe... are you feeling ok? You look funny
Yvette- No im fine...
Spin- ok

Yvette smiled at Spinner. Yvette really liked Spinner... but what was she supposed to do now? Things were different now...

Yvette lay on her bed quietly, awake, at 2 or so in the morning.

Yvette- Damn it...

She pounded her fists into the bed.

Yvette- Its not fair...

She got up and started pacing her room. She wasn't able to sleep. She needed a sign, any. She needed him there...

She lighted a couple candles in her room and then went to open her bedroom window.

Yvette questioned God every night. She questioned why she had to die... why she had to find love only to realize that she wouldn't have it for long....

Yvette- Tell me why... please just tell me what's your plan and i'll stop asking...
Craig- Who are you talking to...?

His voice startled her. She looked down to see him climbing up her tree.

Yvette- Im talking to God
Craig- Why?
Yvette- Because i want answers...

He slipped into her room and stood next to her looking out the window.

Craig- Maybe we aren't supposed to know...
Yvette- Maybe... i still want to.

Craig kissed her forehead. His head filled with all this love... all this feeling of just wanting to help her. Help her find herself in this life she didnt understand

Craig pulled Yvette down upon him when they were done. She felt his arms wrap about her.

Yvette- Mmm... Im sleepy

Craig kissed her

Craig- Go to sleep...

Yvette nodded. Soon Craig had fallen asleep but she still lay awake, wondering.
