Chapter Ten

A few days went by before Alessandra could leave. Elizabeth knew it was because of Ronon, but she didn’t press the issue. Alessandra was in her quarters preparing her stuff so could leave when a buzz came from her door. She paused a minute knowing that Ronon could be on the otherwise. Her skipped a few beats as she took a step toward it. She let it swish open and saw John standing on the other side. She sighed relived, but at the same time she was angry at Ronon for not coming to her. Why is he not trying to get me to stay? She thought to herself as she moved aside to let John come in.
“Hey, you’re just in time I’m about to leave.” she said her heart feeling heavy at the thought of leaving.
“You can’t leave.” he said knowing she wasn’t going to like what he was about to say.
“Yes, I can. “ she said as she turned her back to him and went back to packing.
“No, you can’t.” he was using his authority voice
She turned to him in surprise since he never used that voice with her before.
“I need you here.” he said hoping she’d understand
“No, you don’t.” she said her voice soft as she went to him
“You’re afraid of your feelings for Ronon.” He stated softly as he looked into her eyes” I get that, but you can’t just tuck your tail between your legs and hide.”
“I know.” she said as she sighed deeply” I need to go so that I can think and make the right choice for me.”
“So, you’re coming back then?” he questioned as he brightened up a little
“Of course I am.” she said as she gave him a smile” I’m only going to be gone for about three weeks. I need to breath. I need to go back to my normal life for a little while. When I come back I’ll know for sure if what I’m doing is good for me or if I just need to let go.” her heart nearly stopped at her words
“I’ll be here when you get back.” John said softly as he reached out to her pulling her into his arms.
She just let him comfort her. The warmth of him enveloping her. This was the place where she would always be safe. John was her safety blanket. She laughed then and pulled away from him.
“What’s so funny?” he asked with this cute little confused look on his face.
“I was thinking you’re like my safety blanket.” she said as they sat on her bed facing each other
“Ok, I’ve never had a girl tell me that before, but I’m glad you feel safe with me.” he said “ I feel safe with you as well. You’re like my comfort zone.”
“It’s the same with me. I’m glad we’re not dating, because it wouldn’t be the same.” she said
“I know.” he agreed.
“Although now when it comes to Teyla you might have some competition.” she teased
“Yeah she told me about the kiss on the cheek and flirting back on that planet you guys were on.” he smiled at her” At least it’s you and I know you’ll give her back. My two favorite women with each other is okay with me.”
“Of course it’s every guys fantasy.” she laughed
“Yeah.” he agreed as she got up
“To be honest with you I could never be with someone who’s been with my best friend it would be too weird.” she confessed
“I couldn’t let you be with her anyway. I love her to much to share her.” he confessed to her
“I know how that is.” her voice sounded heavy
“It’ll all come into place I promise.” he said as he stood up and hugged her tightly
“Thank you for being here for me.” she said softly
“Anytime.” they pulled apart and he picked up a bag of hers as she picked up her other one.
“Tell Teyla I said bye.” she said as they made their way to the gate room. Maybe Ronon will show up and I’ll tell him bye my self. Maybe he’ll convince me to stay here with him.
“I will.” he said” Anyone else you want me to say bye too?”
“Yeah.” she said answering his question knowing it was about Ronon.” I will come back in more clear state of mind I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to it.” he said as they walked up to the Daedalus.
“Col. Caldwell is waiting for you on board.” a soldier said as he took her bags.
“I’ll see you in a few weeks.” she said as she hugged him Well, he didn’t come to say good- bye so maybe he doesn’t care that I’m leaving.
“I’ll count the days if you’re not back I’m bring Ronon with me to bring you back here.” He said as he watched her get on board
The Daedalus took off just as Ronon came up.
“Did she go?” he asked nonchalantly
“Yes, she left, but she’s coming back.
“Did she leave because of me?” he asked
“No, she left because she needs sometime to breath and think clearly.” he said as they turned to leave” Trust me it’s a good thing.”
Ronon didn’t say a word he just walked in silence next to John as they went to the mess hall. I can’t believe she left me without saying good- bye. Maybe I should’ve told he how I felt. How I feel. How do I feel? I don’t want to lose her, but to take that step with her... I don’t know if I can. He thought to his self. She’ll come back and then maybe he’d be able to tell her everything or at least part of how he feels. By then he’d know something of how he feels about her. Until then he’d wait for her to come back to him. If she came back it would mean that she cared for him like he did for her. If she didn’t then he’d know she never cared for him. He was just one of her experiments she grew tired of.
