Prologue:
Operations was rather surprised that he was able to get everyone into the room at the same time. Michael and Nikita were on separate sides of the room, which was understandable. Walter and Seymour were sitting and watching one of the screens, while Madeline was watching him expectantly, tapping her foot while her hips were cocked and arms were crossed over her chest. Yup, they all seemed to be wait for something.
"I am guessing that you have all heard..." He would have finished, if it were not for the now blaring music. He rubbed the bridge of his nose, then called out, "Not amusing, Emilie!" The music just cranked up a tiny bit louder, "Emilie!!"
The music turned down to a tolerable level.
"Thank you," He called back.
The music faltered a bit, as if responding in kind.
"As I was saying," He said 'saying' loudly, a soft snicker barely reaching Michael's ears, "I am guessing that you all heard that we are getting a new addition to the team?"
They all nodded and Operations chuckled.
"Emilie, dear, you can come out now." The music wobbled, as if a head was shaking. "Please, my dear?" The music wobbled again. "Do I have to send Michael up there after you?" The music wobbled frantically before fading out.
Chins dropped, all except for one, when a girl stepped out onto the catwalk above them. She didn't even look old enough to be there, but there she was. Operations recognized the song that slowly faded in. It was oddly appropriate for Emilie. A song called Sober. Nikita watched as the girl's tiny hands touched the railing. It flipped to another song, Misery Business, when the girl looked Nikita in the eye. Seymour jumped when the screens flickered.
"Will you, at least, come say hello, Emilie?" Operations asked.
Madeline was surprised by the man's fatherly actions towards the girl. They all gasped, except for Operations, when the girl climbed up to stand on the railing of the catwalk. Operations rolled his eyes and sighed. The girl jumped, landing on her feet, silently. Operations held his hand out for Emilie, who took it when she reached him, sticking to the man's side. Emilie's dark amethyst eyes drifted over the little group, smiling at Walter and winking at Seymour.
