The Sex Machine Myth
Author’s Note: This ‘Fic is very different from my normal style.
Narrator: On this episode of Mythbusters, the team examines the myth that it’s good to make love “like a machine”.
(Shots of the team members looking at various sex toys)
(Adam dancing around with a dildo stapped to his head)
Jamie (Looking skeptical, holding a 2-foot long black dildo): I would think this could do some damage, couldn’t it?
(Kari and Torry fencing with vibrators)
Grant (Sitting next to a robot that looks like him, holding a piston engine): Now the trick is, getting him to not just fall apart right in the middle of...his special night.
(Scene change, Adam and Jamie are at the worktable where they address the audience. A James Brown bobblehead sits on the table, and Adam is poking it with his finger)
Adam (Faux James Brown voice): I’m a sex machee-nah!
Jamie: But is that really such a good thing, Adam?
Adam: Well, the myth would tell us yes. It’s supposed to be because machines are precision and don’t get tired.
Jamie: Sure, but the other side to machines is that they aren’t sensitive and can’t adjust to their lover’s needs. Basically, the human element is lost.
(Scene change, Kari, Grant and Torry are looking through a box of vibrators)
Kari (Pulling out a vibrator with three prongs): Well, no human being has these (She flicks the clitroral stimulator)
Torry (Pouting): I’ve got one.
Grant (Shrugs): Well, human beings may not have the extra parts, but the vibrator doesn’t have the ability to turn YOU on. You have to get the ball rolling.
Torry: Wait, so our challenge is to build a machine that can do the WHOLE act of lovemaking.
Grant: Or as close as we can get.
Kari: So will it be able to have sex with both men and women?
Grant: Well, I think the only way to go is design a machine for women.
Kari (Claps her hands): All right!
(Footage of James Brown singing “Sex Machine”)
Narrator: James Brown seemed to think that being a sex machine was the way to go. Will the gang be able to build a machine that lives up to the myth?
(Commercial break.
