After hours clinic duty

"Look, its a paper-cut you moron; put a band-aid on it, go home, cry to your mommie. Don't bug me about it because I don't care," House said, sounding annoyed as he looked at his watch. "You are the 16th patient I've seen today without an actual problem, my god don't you people have lives. It's 4:58 go bother someone else like a 7 year old by the looks of your tough 'I'm a gang member tattoos'; I'm sure everyone is just quaking." With that he limped out of the room, ignoring the furious looks the patient, a large bald man covered head to toe with tattoos was giving him and completely forgetting his GameBoy which he had left underneath the chair when the patient had entered.

Pushing the glass doors of the diagnostic office open, he was greeted by Cameron coming up to him with a fresh report on their actual patient. She said in one large breath "Patient is presenting with hourly new symptoms, he is going to have to be monitored all night- and Cuddy left you a message that you have to get the insurance paperwork to her tonight or else."
"Fine, fine tell her not to get her panties in a bunch I'll stay and finish it god-- annnd," he added gleefully, "it looks like one of you gets to stay with the patient--- ohhh who should it be? Lets ask the magic 8- ball" Pretending to get the toy and ask it, House continued "Ball says you Chase" He shot at the blonde aussie- "dont you feel special?"

"yea yea yea whatever" Chase replied, " At least the patient is better company then you."

"ouch I'm hurt that one really got me" House replied sarcastically and waved them off to do more work, deciding to ignore the papers for as long as possible. The clock ticked and ticked and soon enough it was after 11. Chase had come up from the patient's room to get some coffee and glanced over at House who was rummaging through his desk.

"What, you haven't started yet?" He asked pretending to be shocked, "you know Cuddy will have your ass if you don't give her those papers."

"I know," House replied irritably, "but you see a most pressing concern has come up and it simply demands my attention- my GameBoy is missing"

Chase thought for a moment before answering, "You had it this morning right before you left for clinic duty, you probably just left it in one of those rooms."

"I knew I kept you around for some reason" House answered back, and smirked as Chase pouted slightly, "oh don't worry, the hair is just as important," ignoring the protest at the comment, he got up and walked to the door calling back, "I'm going down to clinic room 7 if there are any problems with the patient, I'll be there playing my GameBoy or asleep in which case don't wake me up. Have fun with George."

Smiling at the annoyance on Chase's face he made his way down to the mostly deserted and pitch black clinic area. As he approached the room and felt around for the lights, House thought he heard a door open and shut. "Did you miss me already Chase?" He called into the darkness but frowned when no one answered. He shook his head it was late he had worked overly hard listening to the imbeciles in the clinic today and his leg hurt- maybe he had just imagined it. He popped a vicodin found the lights and unlocked the door, 'ahh there it is' he thought to himself. The GameBoy was just where he had left it under the chair; maybe he could finally beat the level he was stuck on. Lost in these thoughts, he jumped when he heard the door close. He turned to find the last man he had treated that day along with a similarly large and muscular man. House rolled his eyes, "Didn't we establish there was nothing wrong with you already, or do you have another equally dangerous and urgent symptom for me to ignore."

"You know," the man said slowly, "you really should be nicer to people, some of us demand and deserve some respect-"

"Oh, what, like you? My rat deserves more respect then you do; at least he is somewhat intelligent." House snapped, "now if you will get out of my way, I have to go do some important doctor work. You know, lives at stake that sort of thing, or maybe you don't know."

"No I don't think so, you see we don't take kindly to being insulted..."

"We?" House asked incredulously, "I only insulted you!"

"If you insult one of us you insult us all," the second man answered.

"Whatever," House muttered, "Just my luck to get two nut-jobs, I swear I am done with clinic duty; Cuddy can do it herself if she is so desperate." With that he tried to push through the two men but froze at the sound of a gun being cocked.

"Now," The man said, "I thought I said that you were going to stay here..."
