Chapter One

*Damn Lex and Damn Valentine’s Day.* Lane though as she sat at a corner table away from the party at the Talon. He should be here with me or at least taking me out but on no he’s at some damn meeting, again. Sighing she stirred her white chocolate mocha, usually this treat was a big pick me up but tonight it didn’t help at all. Tonight she had been all dress up in a sexy little black dress with silver designs across it, waiting for Lex to take her out like he said but all he did was hand her a small jewelry box with an apology then left.

Sighing again she stared at the room around her. Really, Martha Kent had done a wonderful job decorating the Talon. There where of lights all different kinds, from stars on the wall to long white veiled columns hanging from the ceiling as well as a disco ball that glittered from the middle of the room. Red heart balloons along with bubbles floated everywhere. All this put Lana in a depressing mood but what made is worst was the sickly sweet music. She and Cl……no she wasn’t going to think of him not tonight, it would make things even worse.

*And think of the handsome devil and he shall appear.* “Just my luck.” Lana whispered as she caught sight of him with Chloe. My god, does he look good. Black jeans molded to his legs and a dark blue pinstripe shirt with the sleeve rolled-up, making her mouth water and fingers itch to touch him. She knew she had to get out before he saw her, the look in his eyes always broke her heart and she couldn’t take with the bad night she was already having.

Casually as possible she walked around the edge of the room. Even thought the café wasn’t that big, Mrs. Kent had somehow managed to fit little vendors in so that they could sell their
festive gifts. Lana was passing just such a vendor when the lady called out to her.

“Looks like you’re a little down on love?” The lady smiled at her.

“Uh, no got someone. He’s just not here.” Lana looked around nervously not wanting to be caught by either Clark or Chloe.

“Maybe, you need a little euphoria elixir or romance remedy.” She said as waved her hands over the counter of products.

“I don’t think so.” Lana was hesitant to try anything new that she wasn’t completely sure of but wanted to get this little chat over with so she could escape.

“I tell you what I have something here that if you like it, I give it to you for half price,” the lady replied as she reached into a brass chest. “This is made with Jasmine and a mixer of aphrodisiac oils. I get the brilliant hue from red meteor rock.”
Lana took the little red box from the vendors hand and opened it without hesitating. In side was a gold tube of what seemed to be lipstick.

“This will make me or anyone fall in love?” Lana questioned.

“The first man you set eyes on.” The vendor replied with a knowing smile.

“Well who knows, maybe this color will look good on me.” Lana mumbled to herself.

Taking out the tube she watched herself apply it flawlessly in the mirror. The red hue was perfect for Lana’s color what she didn’t see was the shimmer that appeared and then disappeared from her lips because she was to busy noticing Clark in the mirror. He was standing not far from her still talking to Chloe.

“Clark.” With that one whispered name of Lana cares vanishes. She felt sexy and alive and her greatest desire was in the room not but a few feet away from her
