From Lust To Love

From Lust To Love

Fandom: Law and Order: SVU
Rating: not sure...I think I'll give each chapter It's own rating.
Pairings: Casey/Olivia
Things you should know:
1. I don't own any of the characters in this story.
2. If same sex relationships bother you, you shouldn't read.
3. This story doesn't follow any specific timeline or episode. In fact it will probably have very little to do with the actual case as I do not know much about law or police work. It's a shippy fanfic based on the feelings and relationships of the characters, in this case Olivia and Casey.

Part 1: Secret Thoughts
Rating: PG-13 (I think)

Detective Olivia Benson sat at her desk, her head bent over a file. Something about this case just didn't make sense and she was determined to figure it out. She was so engaged in her thoughts she didn't notice ADA Casey Novak striding toward her. Olivia jumped when Casey spoke. "Hey Liv. What are you doing here so late?" Olivia rubbed her creased brow. "Is it late?" Casey perched herself on the corner of Olivia's desk. "It's after ten." Olivia shrugged. "I didn't notice." Casey couldn't help notice Olivia had suddenly become tense. She'd noticed that a few times when they'd been alone together.

Olivia was noticing a few things herself. She took in Casey's carefully put together appearance. She loved the way the unforgiving lights of the precinct brought out the shine of Casey's now blonde hair. Her eyes drifted over Casey's crisp white button down shirt. It was formal yet something about the way Casey wore it made it sexy. Olivia's eyes travelled down taking in the way Casey's midnight blue skirt was just long enough to be appropriate for work and the material clung to the toned thighs underneath. Olivia felt her temperature rise as her gaze swept over the bare shapely legs of her collegue.

"Tough case?" Casey was simply trying to keep the conversation going. Olivia nodded. "I've missed something. I just can't figure out what." Casey hopped off the desk. "You need a break. Come on, let's get some coffee." Olivia looked up at Casey wondering if the offer was a friendly gesture from a collegue or something more. She secretly hoped it was the latter. Despite her reservations Olivia decided to accept. She got up and grabbed her jacket from it's hook. She followed Casey out of the police station.

Once outside the two quickly fell into a comfortable step. Neither spoke but both of their minds were filled with burning questions. Casey would occasionally glance at Olivia and be greeted with a small smile. She couldn't help but wonder, "What does that smile mean? Does she know I'm attracted to her? Can she see how just being near her makes me blush?" And Olivia after recieving a smile in return would wonder, "Does she feel the same way? What is that I see in her eyes?"

Reaching the coffee shop their steps halted. Casey pulled open the glass door and held it for Olivia. "After you Detective." Olivia giggled and stepped through. "How chivilrous of you." Instead of simply ordering coffee to go, Olivia suggested they get a table and talk.

Soon they found themselves in a cozy corner booth sitting across from each other, sipping slowly at their coffee. The table was so small that their knees bumped under the table every time they moved. Casey would hide her blush and grin by taking another sip from her cup. Olivia didn't have to attept to hide her reaction. Her face was like stone. She was unreadable as always. She had noticed Casey's reactions though. And taking a leap she spoke, "What's on your mind councilor? Dirty thoughts?"

Casey choked and sputtered. She couldn't believe Liv had the audacity to call her on her private thoughts in a public place. Olivia reached out and placed a hand on Casey's arm. "Are you ok?" Casey felt the blush creep back into her cheeks. She loved the feel of Olivia's hand on her arm. So warm...so gentle. And yet firm. She wiped a drop of coffee from her lip with her free hand and met Olivia's eyes. Concern. Olivia was concerned. Casey nodded. "I'm fine." Olivia's hand retreated. Casey was sad to have the contact gone.

The conversation turned to safer topics. The case at hand dominated the conversation. But as Olivia spoke, Casey's mind drifted away. She couldn't hold on to the words. Images of Liv drifted in her head. Olivia the first time she'd met her...strong, determined. Olivia's weaker side which she'd rarely seen...sad, softer. Olivia as she'd been just moments before...lusty eyes, brazen even. Casey tried imagining what Olivia was like in private moments away from prying eyes, when her defenses were down. Would she smile easily? Would she laugh with real happiness? Would her eyes sparkle and dance? Would she dress less formally and move more gracefully? A picture popped into Casey's head just then that made her face become crimson. Olivia in a peach sundress standing in a sunny room with her arms outstreached and an ice-melting smile.

Olivia's voice brought Casey out of her daydream. "Casey?! You haven't heard a word I've said!" Casey's face would have blushed a deeper red if it was possible. "I'm sorry Liv. I must be tired." Olivia could tell Casey wasn't thinking about sleep. "You're face is red. Are you ok?" Casey nodded. "It's the coffee. It's...(she paused)...hot." Olivia let a little smirk play on her lips as she thought, "That's not the only thing that's hot."

It was Olivia's turn to daydream but unlike Casey she didn't get flustered over the little things. She imagined Casey as she hoped she'd someday get to see her. In her head Casey was lying in bed on her side looking into her eyes. Her naked body covered only with a sheet. Her hair loose and wavy, tumbling about her shoulders. Her eyes bright with love. Her creamy skin flushed gently from love-making. Olivia surpressed her pleasant thought and shifted in her seat. "I have to get back to work." Casey nodded. "I'll walk you back."

Casey and Olivia stepped out of the coffee shop into the brisk New York night. Keeping the same stride, the made their way back to the police station. Once outside they stopped. Olivia took Casey's hand for a second. "Thanks for the coffee." Casey squeezed Olivia's hand in return. "Anytime Liv." Olivia let go of Casey and disappeared into the building. Casey stood there for a moment mourning the parting. With a sigh she thought. "There's always tomorrow."
