Brilliant! one of my favourite scenes. I love the back story. A bloodied and tortured Mal is a very sexy sight.

OMG, Ertia! This is TASTY beyond belief! I love you, love your swai and shiny way with words. The Wash/Mal torture scene is imbedded in any browncoat's mind who has read it, and your fic here just...makes the branding so much more real for me. I wish Joss had you to show him how to REALLY film that scene. Thank you for this. It was soooo good. And the dust and sulfur caked love scene with Mal and Zoe was so pitiful at starting, then so sensual as she came to him...left me a bit verklempt. We're lucky to have you writing for us. Keep it up.

I was a little worried when I reached the Mal kinda forces Zoe part, but somehow you recovered it and made it work. Very good job, even if I am a little weirded out by the possibility.
